I got to see him 3 times, The last one was the 4th of July 1970, he played the Star Spangled Banner at midnight. He was great & innovative but he never played with his teeth he was a show man too.
Given the brilliance of Jimi's guitar playing, it's no surprise that little is ever said of him as a vocalist. Great sultry, bluesy sounds. No one can pull this off. Jimi alone.
Some very cool photos here ! i bought most of Jimi's vinyls in the 70s and bought the EP Vinyl that hit the UK charts about 16 weeks after he died. Had 2 songs on one side and one on the other. Voodoo Child, All Along The Watchtower and Hey Joe. Fabulous times for me as a teen
After all the jacks are in their boxes And the clowns have all gone to bed You can hear happiness staggering on down the street Footprints dressed in red And the wind whispers, "Mary" A broom is drearily sweeping Up the broken pieces of yesterday's life Somewhere, a queen is weeping Somewhere, a king has no wife And the wind, it cries, "Mary" The traffic lights, they turn blue tomorrow And shine their emptiness down on my bed The tiny island sags downstream 'Cause the life that lived is dead And the wind screams, "Mary" Will the wind ever remember The names it has blown in the past? And with this crutch, its old age and its wisdom It whispers, "No, this will be the last" And the wind cries, "Mary"
Eine herrliche Aufnahme wo man auch das Schlagzeug vom Mitch sehr gut hört.Grossartig. A wonderful recording where you can also hear Mitch's drums very well. Great.
This song sends chills of happiness down my spine gives me goosebumps all the while completely warming my soul. What more could you ask for from a song.
That's a beautiful video. So beautifully done. Really good. Thank you very much Piraten Jenny! I love it! Gorgeous photos of the beautiful Jimi, and the lyrics are done so perfectly. Very pretty.
It's been a long time since I've heard this song and every other day i sometimes sing this song it's another song that sticks out in your head even on a windy day and the wind cryes mary.❤u jh 😊

Jim Marshal Hendrix was not only a wizard guitarist, he was an accomplished poet too as this song proves. Unfortunately the guy who subtitled this great song did unsatisfactory job by putting purple lyrics against a dark background and the subtitles are late coming dragging behind Jimi's voice particularly the concluding lyrics of the song

The lyrics are profound poetry
Jimi bringing life to every side of reality, will the wind ever remember............
After all the jacks are in their boxes
And the clowns have all gone to bed
You can hear happiness staggering on down the street
Footprints dressed in red
And the wind whispers, "Mary"
A broom is drearily sweeping
Up the broken pieces of yesterday's life
Somewhere, a queen is weeping
Somewhere, a king has no wife
And the wind, it cries, "Mary"
The traffic lights, they turn blue tomorrow
And shine their emptiness down on my bed
The tiny island sags downstream
'Cause the life that lived is dead
And the wind screams, "Mary"
Will the wind ever remember
The names it has blown in the past?
And with this crutch, its old age and its wisdom
It whispers, "No, this will be the last"
And the wind cries, "Mary"

Yes, me too. Beautiful, the song and how Jimi sings it. He had such mastery. His voice is as beautiful as his guitar.

Ähhhh, sorry. am i the only one who suspects this is not Jimi Hendrix and his band?
Compare these lyrics to those from someone like Kurt Cobain. Jimi was a poet. Kurt was a self-destructive clown who had too much time on his hands.
