Cool video but I'm a car data nerd anyway so I love these kind of vehicles. It's cool that you're starting with a brand new unmodified car so you can track the progress as you modify it.
That intercooler is definitely helping you make that power. With the stock intercooler, IAT's creep up pretty badly with the FL5's which would decrease your power a fair amount.
Well, the stock fl5 from hondata did 327 crank hp, so with a 10% drive train loss that puts you exactly at 294 whp. Not sure if the intercooler is doing anything tbh.
@Adam A. the 327hp from factory isn't going to tell you much at all. 10% loss is probably on the optimistic side when realistically its more lile 15-20% loss. I can tell you from personal experience that the one I drove the other day with a stock intercooler had IAT's of 103°f and the outside temps were 35°....imagine what they'd be on an 80° day...the stock intercooler is garbage
Most factory intercoolers are 100% made for production, ie cheap! Plastic wnd tanks, small cores, etc. Once you hit roughly 100°, timing starts to get pulled. In the summer you are losing substantial power due to lack of cooling
@@jdubbsvt85 I agree the stock intercooler isn't that great, I own an fl5, I'm certainly going to get an intercooler upgrade asap, and later on an oil cooler upgrade as well. 20% is high for fwd though, I would say 10-15%. I never seen anyone say 20% for fwd. Also you have to consider they are in california with 91 octane, which is gonna make a difference as well.
