Great video. I love GF milk paint, so easy to use and great coverage. I just bought an old church altar chair to paint, of course, I'm struggling with color choices. Sometimes choosing the color(s) is the most difficult part. I like this finish - a lot - does it work best with bright colors washed with dark or can a pale yellow be used as base and washed with darker color.
Hi I am getting ready to paint a bathroom cabinet. I have been watching your abc of chalk paint. I saw that you painted your bathroom cabinet with Dixie Belle paint and really liked how it came out. I am torn between General Finishes Milk paint and Dixie Belle with a top coat for added protection. Which paint would you recommend? Thank you
Hi Sharon, great question! I really like how my bathroom cabinets came out with Dixie Belle. I think for a small project like that I would go Dixie Belle with the Gator Hide (dixiebellepaint.com?aff=177). I plan on painting another bathroom cabinet in our house soon with General Finishes, so I'll keep you updated with that!
Roots & Wings Furniture LLC thank you! I have been researching different types of paint for this bathroom cabinet and as u probably already know there are a ton of different types. I just want to do it right the first time. Since you have used both Dixie Belle and General Finishes why would u choose Dixie Belle?
Hello Jenni! As a newbie, I really love and appreciate your videos especially these paint reviews! Would you consider reviewing any of the following? (not in comparison of each other just their individual performance in general) 1. Wise Owl OHE 2. Behr Chalk & Enamel 3. Benjamin Moore Advance Enamel I would love to hear your thoughts :) Thanks!
I would look up your local retailer for General Finishes and see if they have sample swatches in store you can look at and match. Online the colors can be very different from real life.
I don't like foam brushes because I find they are not as durable as a bristle brush, and I find them a bit harder to clean (personal opinion). I think it would work for painting a small piece however!
@@RootsWingsHome OK thanks a bunch.. i typically throw the foam brushes away and just include them in the cost of the project. I have purchased high end brushes but i can never get them clean and they end up being disposable anyway... plus they leave brush strokes... but this milk paint seems to do pretty good with leveling out and not leaving brush marks. THANKS FOR THE REPLY!!! GREAT VIDEO
@@spkendrick I understand! Check out this video on how I was my brushes, I feel like they usually come pretty clean and I can use them for a long time! ua-cam.com/video/T9bev2mIFDo/v-deo.html
It really is a medium gray. Seagull is a really light gray. Another newer color they just came out with is called Perfect Gray - check that one out for a good medium gray as well!
Thanks for the info. Great review!
Thank you for watching 💕
That is a beautiful color! I have tried general finishes gel stain on my kitchen cabinets and loved it. Thank you for the review on the paint.
I love this Driftwood color! Thank you for watching!!

Choosing the color can be tough. It works best with bright colors washed with darker colors I think. Good luck on your project!
Thank you Jenni for another great review. One question about general finish...how would you describe the odor?
Hi Tammy! I don't notice much of an odor to it, less than some other paints in fact. I will say though, I use it so often I could just be used to it 😃
@@RootsWingsHome Thank you!

I didn't have any more paint reviews on the schedule, but I will consider it!
Can you blend two different colors with a smooth transition like chalk paint?
I want to use a clear glossy topcoat over the milk paint. What do you recommend?
I'd recommend General Finishes High Performance Top Coat, in whichever sheen you desire! They do have a gloss and semi-gloss option. amzn.to/2YOmrvU
Hi jenni ..... Love the color snow white for my kitchen cabinets but want a gloss finish. Can I use general finish gloss high performance top coat?
Can you show all your color swatches? I'm looking for Reverant gray and Seagull gray but cant seem to buy a sample anywhere. Thanks

Does this paint work on laminate cabinets, any special prep work? Thanks
Have you ever applied this with a foam brush? And if so what are your thoughts on a foam brush

I know you said driftwood was a medium gray however the pictures posted on Amazon make it appear really dark...is it or is Seagull a better choice?

Roots & Wings Furniture & Home Thanks for the quick response...what about Empire grey?🤔
hi, l love you all your videos are great . Would you put a top coat

Thank you from Minnesota!
What type of alcohol did you say that you used?
Denatured alcohol. I mix it 50/50 with water in a spray bottle.
Roots & Wings Furniture LLC Thanks!
Either drop the music or greatly reduced the volume. It makes it too difficult to understand what you are saying.
