I see where Mr Beast got his inspiration
Mr Beast WISHES
Yep
The race between Steven and Russell to see who uses Pertwee’s Take Away as a pivotal set piece first has officially begun
omg please!!
Surely this race would be won by Big Finish
Sean Pertwee does a cameo as a fast-food owner in the episode The Legend of Ruby Sunday.
Next rumour: the Fourth and Sixth Doctors co-owned a BAKERy
Ever seen those Tom Baker greeting cards from back in the day? Tom Baker's company made those. No joke.
This isn’t a rumour though, he did own a burger joint
The Fabulous Baker Boys.
😂
Booooo!
Main course: Planet of the Sliders
Side dish: The Slaw of Axos
After dinner: Spearmint from Space
I’ll have the Inferno burger… hold the green screaming sauce please
free werewolfification with meal
Oh wow, that would’ve been brilliant! I’m imagining some kind of chilli burger with guacamole.
Way better than the Grean Death Burger.
@@alexianempthat one would be a bit maggoty.
@alexianemp Whatever you do don't order the devious burger you'll never get your order
[ Does that count? It's a fan film and it's mostly about the second and a half Doctor but purtwee was in it]
Possibly the funniest commentary I’ve seen, but I didn’t laugh harder than the moment Pertwee’s Burgers was revealed. My favourite Classic Doctor just got even better!
SO good
@@JoshSnares it’s Moffat saying “what? Sorry? *Doctor Who* did?” that gets me every time.
Pertwee also once had a cheetah as a pet, which he often took for walks on Wimbledon Common. Until, one day, the cheetah chased a bird over a hedge and landed in the middle of someone's picnic.
Just when you thought you knew everything... this is about as crazy as another missing episode being found 😭
like.... literally finally some good info!!!
Fascinating! I think it’s interesting that this wasn’t common knowledge, given the obsessiveness of fans and the fact that the business’ existence was publicly available knowledge. Not often that something like this happens, it’s a rare treat
There seems to be a few people who did know already (there always are!) but this was new to me!
I learnt it from one of Toby Hadoke's podcasts only about 6 months ago
I always thought that Pertwee played the Doctor with relish... now I know why ;)
As much as I want and need, the missing episodes to be found, I think footage of Jon Pertwee partying in Ibiza, just might be more entertaining.
The Boom commentary was so unhinged I love it! I genuinely didn't know this, that is really interesting! Shame I wasn't alive back then as I would've loved to try a Pertwee burger!
Soooo unhinged, loved it! I want more!
The commentary was so chaotic and I’m here for it! 😂 glad it’s a true story
it was soooo good, i hope theres more in the future!!
Given Pertwee's role in the radio sitcom the Navy Lark I could see him owning a fish & chips takeaway.
Love this! Did you know there was a whole other strand of Pertwee burgers though?
At the UK Harvester Restaurant chain for a few years you’d be greeted by a life size, moving model of Jon Pertwee dressed as Worzel Gummidge and “Worzel Burgers” were a big part of the menu… with Jon as Worzel also appearing on all the menus… He truly was the Burger King 🤣
Can't wait for this to show up on the wikipedia page.
Oh my god, this changes everything.
i'm vegetarian, but i would eat a pertwee burger... you can't turn that down
The Third Doctor when he meets a karen
'i wanna speak to the manager about my order'
"how dare you go galivanting around like that!'
Unruly customers dispatched quickly via Venusian aikido
Wild, I used to go to the kebab shop that the burger shop became almost daily on the way home from school like a decade ago. Never knew it had Doctor Who connections!
Honestly RTD and Steven Moffat bantering should be it’s own show
I lived on Gunnersbury Lane in the mid to late 70's and picked up takeaways from there regularly. The place was very much promoted as being linked to John Pertwee - pictures of him were up on the walls. From what I remember, it was a fairly small place.
Cool I can't wait to see a crossover were The Third Doctor visits Bob's Burgers.
It's really cool to see confirmation on this! I was already familiar with it having heard it brought up in old con footage, I believe from the man himself, but it's one of those things that's always had me wondering "wait, is this actually real?"
Boom might have the funniest commentary I've seen, I didn't learn that much but I laughed my arse off
Waiting for an expose in DWM with faithful reconstructions of the Pertwee Burgers takeaway menu (available as printed menus for those who buy physical copies) and a 3D CGI recreation of the store's interior, similar to what they do for old set designs 🍔
Omg I would LOVE!!
I hope there was a discount for anyone who rocked up with a copy of the Jon Pertwee Recipe Book.
Well, that's wild. I've never heard that story before, and I'm a Pertwee fan. Thanks, Josh!
Every Doctor should have their own takeaway! Bring on Hartnell's kebab and Davison's pizza!! 😂
Jodie’s Juice Bar???
@@JoshSnares I'll have the sylvester sausage.
How about Tom and Colin’s village bakery
mind you, smith’s crisps and Tennant’s lager are already available in Britain. 😂
what alternate timeline is this hahahahaha
it feels so wrong but so right
I am going to be so ready when this comes up at Doctor Who trivia this year.
Bizarre! We are entering the Twilight Zone! 😂❤❤ I relish your videos!🍔
This in-vision commentary was magnificent in general! At this point, I'd be up for a Doctor Who showrunners podcast.
We've got to get our hands on a TARDIS stat! I gotta have one of those burgers!
Hungry Pertwees, McPertwees, PFC. Pertwee was a goer wasn’t he
Pertwee also co owned a wine bar in Windsor with Peter Rogers, that was shown in ‘Carry on Loving’.
Wonder if they used the secret sauce of life
"But he had Pertwee's Burgers."
"He what??"
So glad someone decided to investigate this and it turned out to be true hahaha, nice work
A nice, tasty burger with a side of baked (Sontaran) potatoes and an Iced (Warrior) glass of coke. That better have been the menu
John Levene worked as a dishwasher.
Really? Dam.
I am now prepared to believe any Pertwee-related story!
At the same place?
I heared Pertwee had planned to open up a Chips and Buger bar with author William Golding.
They were going to call it 'Lord of the Fries'.
A Bessie Burger with Dalek fries and a Master Milkshake?
I'm heartbroken I can't get a Pertwee Burger! Sean should re-open it in his father's name 😃 Thanks for this little video Josh, so much fun! More bite-sized Josh vids! We must have MOOAARR!! x
Second Doctor: I see you have done the burger joint yup a bit… I do like it.
Third Doctor: Coming from you, that’s quite a complement.
Second Doctor: The food is certainly very delicious.
Third Doctor: I know indeed.
I think the restaurant only closed because of how Pertwee became the acror of Worzel Gummidge in 1979. You can't both act and own a business, so Pertwee likely opted to close the restaurant to focus on his new role.
Shortly after this story broke, I found that Acton Gazette story, and posted it on a DW forum. Looks like you used my crop. Now, I can say I helped to beautify one of your videos. 😉
Next thing you know, David Tennant and his father in law actually own a barber shop in Bristol
Incredible work as always
thank you 😌
He used the TARDIS to deliver the burgers before you ordered them.
He was also good mates with my grandad. They used to go out on my grandad’s boat in Mallorca quite often 😂
Omg I love that
Came expecting a joke. Ended up learning something genuinely fascinating.
I kinda wanna try a Pertwee Burger now
Same!!!
I clicked on this video not realizing it was from Josh Snares. This makes it even better! 😉
That man never fails to amaze me 😂😂
I cant believe it, that's on my road 😂
omg small world
I love how you managed to do make this video in such a short space of time, because the topic is SO up your street. Also does this mean that Pertwee was literally a ham fisted bun vendor?!
Thought this was a pisstake. This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen
Literally making the thumbnail I was like “no one is going to believe this is serious” 😅
If the BBC ever decides to open a doctor who fast food restaurant. Maybe in an area similar to the Doctor who experience…
They should definitely name it after Jon pertwee and have the restaurant themed to unit and Bessie.
Sean Pertwee used to work there sometimes as a summer job.
I'm watching the video commentaries now and I am laughing so hard my nose is literally bleeding 👃 🩸
Lol.... I genuinely thought my grandad was f'ing with me when I was a kid back in the u.k 😂 He liked to tell a 6 year old me DrWho made him dinner at his shop ... I was like b.s grandad 😂
My life has changed after hearing this information thank you!
Woah! Never knew about that! Craziest thing is that this isn’t even the strangest thing Jon Pertwee did in his life. His wikipedia page alone is a wild ride!
This is a delightful little story! Thanks for sharing! I'm sure Russell's already been on the phone with the kebab shop about filming there...
There's a whole story in this. Or at least a throwaway joke for an upcoming episode. Acton, eh? And to think the Cybermen were right underneath them. Not the best place to be when people up top have been snaffling burgers.
Someone mentioned this on xitter, today, even included a clip from a commercial for it! 😱🤯
1:35 - How could I possibly forget that?
Thought it was only Ncuti who had the buns.
This while thing sounds like a misremembered memory... but to learn it's true is so wild. I hope Russell and Steven apologised!
Love your quick little vids Josh
well burger me , new facts
This is the content I live for! 🍔
I didn’t know Jon had that much time to present WhoDunnit and do worzel gummidge while flipping burgers.
I used to eat there regularly at the time, the burgers were very good. Worth the half-hour drive just to say you'ld been there :-)
This was good! Made me laugh. Something I never knew about my favorite Doctor. Thanks for posting this and telling us about it.
Absolutely true !! it was actually opposite Acton town station it was a Saturday night treat as a kid however I don't think he ever was there😂
Apparently one of the first 2 Doctors owned a 2nd hand HiFi shop on London's Edgware Road.
I'd like to think it was Hartnell.
People know, I'm sure, Purtwee owned a hair dressers outside a tube station, Hammersmith I seem to remember..
Not 100% sure it was Hammersmith, maybe it was Acton tube station.
Could I have the Cheeseburger with Sir Reginald Style's famous Roquefort?
I’m shocked no one’s ever really brought this up until now
I wonder if one could also get his legendary spaghetti flan at this place.
sean pertwee should've inherited pertwee's takeaway smh my head
Absolutely wild stuff. The More You Chow.
Wow. I thought I knew it all. Fascinating!
I'll gladly pay you Tuesday...
Fascinating!
there is nothing that the Pert hasnt done.
Blooming heck. I ate at the chicken shop next to it a few weeks ago. I was so close....
This, I did not expect! 🤣
I see the 3rd Doctor loves America
Now I'm starving, earl, we got any burgers back there?
This is the kind of online content I want to see. Instead of Ian Levine doing his Jekyll and Hyde routine
"Gunnersbury"...
I gave it a shot 💀
I did not know he owned a Burger Joint.
Why doesn't this surprise me in the slightest?
fyi this isn't in the doctor who oddity playlist (no idea if that's intentional since it's a different style)
Great little piece of DW info! 🙂
thanks :)
I miss your oddity series.
Do you know this is a thing I think I heard before the Internet was a thing forgot about it and now we check now. Only now.
I would not equate a 70s Uk 'burger joint' with the current junk food outlets infecting the planet from America.
If you are old enough to remember, Wimpy Bars even up to the 80s provided table service, proper plates with cutlery. I do recall seeing Pertwee on chat shows talking about his love of food and considering himself a gourmet and on one occasion describing a fish dish you could prepare using a dishwasher as an oven to cook the dish.
Can you please impersonate Millie Gibson! You have no idea how much you'd look like her with glasses on, from Fridays episode. I can't unsee it now lol. :)
