This was fresh air aaand a slap in the face for me but I am NOT complaining! 😄
I love it man! “Ef that, you have to be your best”. You really do have to have that mentality in every single aspect of life, inside and outside of medicine. I really feel like you need to take that mentality to everything. When you sweep the floor you need give it 110% and that will spill over to everything. And in medicine that’s extremely important. We don’t have the luxury to do anything less than 110%. We aren’t realtors, if we mess up at our job we don’t lose someone a good deal, we could cost them their life. Great videos man. Awesome quality, even better content. Students are lucky to have you
Another great video Jimmy! My thoughts: a lot of your videos emphasize simple hard work. I am 38 now and had the attitude of earning success by just working as hard as I could and putting in as many hours as possible throughout my 20s and early 30s. The problem I ran into is that I started to burn out, and then I started to develop bad habits, and my work became less efficient. I could force myself to sit down in front of my computer or my instrument or whatever, but if I was burnt out, I didn't focus. Eventually I got in the habit of not focusing - my brain started to EXPECT that when I sat down to work, I would not be focused. Now I feel it is better to practice moderation - if you always push yourself to give 100%, eventually, you wear yourself down, even if it takes years and years. Not only is it not fun, it is efficient, so you lose everything. Better to stop at 90%. That's my experience anyway. I noticed in your video where you studied for 100 hours in one week, you weren't getting proper sleep, which makes me think that kind of effort isn't sustainable. Secondly, in regards to reviewing, I really like using Anki, but in creative ways. Sometimes I use fairly high-level concepts on Anki cards. For example, you could have an Anki card that just says "What do you know about the mitochondria?" Then when I see it I just do some active, free recall about everything I can remember about the mitochondria. If I feel like I did a good job, I can move on, otherwise, I'll review the lecture on the mitochondria. Then the Anki algorithm will take care of prompting me to review the lectures that need review at the appropriate times. All that being said, I find your videos very helpful in motivating me to keep studying! Thanks!
This is awesome! Very well said! I’m in a Radiologic Technology Program so I’ve been studying 5-7 hours everyday using the exact same methods you mentioned in this video. 5-7 hours seems like a long time (it is) but I feel more and more confident with the material with each passing day. Thank you for reinforcing what I’ve already discovered! It truly works!

You have the same mentality that Kobe Bryant had. He was the best cause he outworked everyone.
Same thought
HitmanThunder no this dude is his own person, Kobe was a sell out
What I found works for me(on a math exam atleast) is writing down all the information that I need to know. Which proves to me that I have learned everything I have studied so I will do as best as I possibly can on the test.
I study by my self since I was 10 and only in my 20 started having a clear system it take time
Thank you so much for your videos! Since the day I found you, I could learn effectively and have motivation to study everyday with your studying videos. Thanks to this specific video, I would know how to design my next semester to become the kind of student that I always want to be in class. You're doing such a great job apart from persueing your carrier as a medical student. Repect and love from a Vietnamese student in Germany!
Hi! Can you make a “How to create a study schedule” video?
I must have to say that your videos have high level of our problem solutions , motivation , tips
Heads off to you
And thanks for making such videos nd in your future also😁😍✨🤩🔥
Thank you for this!! I can relate to all the “bad” examples you mentioned. I’m going to rewatch this whenever I feel drowned with all the lectures I need to review.
"let's just cut to the chase" needs to be at the start of every video on youtube. thank you!
As an A level student ...this has changed my perspective on studying for my tests❤thank you so much❤
Thanks for the tips Doc ! A med student from the Philippines needs to watch this !
Can we get a real time study with me with no music and with background noise.. please!
This is honestly a little hardcore and I love it. You don't become even one of the best by aiming for "above average"
It’s suck when you already graduate from med school and going to pass usmle and first time in your life learning how to learn properly. Thx for video.
This is the channel I've been looking for! Finally some actually helpful tips that I haven't heard 50 times already. Thank you!
Someone’s has been reading the Kobe mamba mentality studies.
I WAS THINKING THIS TOO
When he talked about student B never catching up to student A I immediately thought of Kobe
You dropped so many gems in this video! Thank you so much! I'm in the process of overhauling my med school study techniques and you have blessed me with so many new techniques to incorporate and try out.
I'm at 20min to my final Biology exam. I think I should have seen this before HAHA
wow wow wow, one of the most effective videos ever... people usually bs their explanation.
Thank you very much please do bless us with more useful content. Your a beast stilllll
You captured my fear, " I am not the brightest..." What was your Harvard' OMS's CBSE score? I am an aspiring OMFS resident dental student..
you have THE best videos. I have watched many productivity channels, but none compare to the depth and the helpfulness your videos have. you're also the only channel that inspires me to actually put these to the test, to actually get benefit from what I just watched. I watched your active recall video a couple weeks ago and I've been doing it ever since, it's the best for biology! thanks so much :D
When you revise do you always go through your concise notes only? I am also a medstudent but I feel like my University does the testing in such a manner that you need to now every minute detail and you need to remeber the specific way they present a concept. Is it the same in your case? What do you think would be the best approach? Btw looove your channel!!
Well thats USMLE exam for you. They ask some really minute information, that if you don't go through Uworld in detail, you are not passing that exam.
Thank you bro. The vid was enlightening and inspiring. I'm a Dental graduate studying for upcoming board exm. My anxiety makes it hard to sleep at night but after watching your vid, I now know how to assess that. To be a Study warrior
is it too late bc i’m already a senior and definitely not the top of my class ;((((
You got a subscriber because of the wisdom of your first point which I practice. Truly valuable content and well-presented, thank you, keep it up.
"...coding thing into calculator to solve specific sets of physic questions..."
Me: Damn that's good
"... For Fun."
Me: WHAT THE F?
dude coding on a programmable calculator is ez idg how ppl find this extraordinary
I code for fun too 🤣 it's lots of fun
Ahhh! Thank you so much! I'm approaching my upper division courses and I've just been kind of sliding through my pre-med courses. Now I'm getting to the beef of my degree and really need to and want to up my game. I'm hoping I can meet dedicated and passionate people like yourself in my classes this year!
I'm a final year med student..and I'm unable to memorize all the Medicine names..i forget it the next day...😶
I've studied past three months since lockdown but i hardly remember anything I've studied..is my memory weak or I'm studying the wrong way?
Ur memory is fine. Everyone forgets. Unless u try to actively recall and convert it to long term memory. Keep going. 🙂
No ur memory isn't weak buddy ,we just study the wrong way ..give tym to the heavy topics ..once u start memorising all the medicines ,keep aside a rough sheet and try to write the names down ..the next day apply the same procedure ..u will be able to grasp everything dear ..love from India 😊
Final year? Do what you've been doing past 4 years, it's that simple.
I usually don't comment often, but wow that was really eye opening and you spoke nothing, but wisdom. Please keep it up, I am looking forward to see where you go :)
This guy is the medical version of Dan lok.
THANK U, I’m having my respa block final next week and this video really motivates me to work hard and worry less about my grade
Nice one
I bring you all blessings from my LORD JESUS CHRIST WHO Is coming again to judge the living and the dead hoping you believe In HIM
ty so much for explaining what is testable. this is something that I struggle with and often people say to start with that info but never explained how to evaluate what is the core material.
also, I outwork everyone but I don't have the results to show for it. I'm burning out. I feel terrible.
The production quality on this video is 👌 mentality is super important when you’re studying. Without the right mindset, it’s tough for stuff to stick.
