Yup. They didn't skimp out on lore, and callbacks and stories of characters stretch through multiple games. Even the opening shots of the Diablo IV trailer are the shots from the original Diablo opening video. They love stringing it all together, and 4 will likely continue that tradition, even if the company in charge is slowly eroding the development studio.
@@CannibaLouiST Not sure how that relates to my comments from 2 years ago, but it's fair that you didn't like the art style from 3. I also thought it was missing something important.
I didn't find out about what happened to The Heroic Three, until I played Diablo III.. cause I didn't really played 2 with a focused mindset, I didn't realize what was goin' on. III was great in filling The "Gaps".

Amazing how detailed D1 and D2 were together, I had no clue about some of the lore and it's awesome. Goes to show you how much Blizzard has dropped the ball on this franchise now.
That was due to Blizzard North Team doing the heavy lifting to make Diablo the best series. They resigned after *"ACTIVISION"* Blizzard didn't listen to them.
Yeah, but all the stuff about the warrior in D1 being a prince was not in the game, was it? They retconned it in. So I find it difficult to praise D1's story for that.
I played Diablo a lot as a kid, but never completed it. I was heartbroken to come back to it as an adult and hear about the ultimate fate of the three main characters. All those hours spent painstakingly building them up, fighting my way through legions of hellspawn, on ironman mode no less (I didn't have a memory card to dedicate to the 15 blocks needed for Diablo saves) only to find out that was how it ended. But that's the power of a tragedy.
This game was amazing and I still play every once in a while but since Activation and Blizzard became a thing, they are going to turn it into the next Call of Duty.
@@dr.strangelove9815 oh :O I know, i know. We see problems surfacing now with D2 resurected where the game's original tone, like some of the mature content is being censored. As we know D1 is the grimmest the darkest, non apologetic installation of the series because of the creative freedom of the times it was made in.The freedom of building their vision without any interference was huge part of what made Diablo the success it is today. That's a fact. What i am trying to say here is that pulling off a worthy remaster of such a material nowadays is herculean task, with everyone nitpicking and shitting all over every little detail.
The creepy noise in Diablo 1 in the music made it a bit more dark imo, when you hear man and women moaning and being in pain at the same time, well that's how that sound felt to me
Diablo 3 changing the lore was completely unnecessary. I hate diablo 3 so much that I don't even consider it cannon, to me the Diablo series ended with Diablo 2.

Man those games were so freaking amazing. Spent so many hours playing them. Diablo 3 was such a departure and let down from the quality of the first two games. Some of the games systems did actually improve in 3, but in the process the game lost its heart and much of what made the Diablo series such a gem. With the remaster of D2 coming out I can't help but feel blizzard should take a huge risk and completely depart from the isometric style of the ARPG of two decades past. The game engines exist now to create a whole new generation of ARPG in third person. Make it dark and visceral and scary in a beautifully realized 3d world. They're already going open world with D4, why not do what gta did and break into the 3d world and do it right. An action rpg looter set in a fully realized world of sanctuary. I guess we can only dream though.
Maybe one day we see horror like Diablo game or remake. D3 was more like epic journey, D4 looks the same. D1 was scary af, music, ambient sound, voiceovers...sick and scary.

It just dawned on me, that Final Fantasy X follows the same premise as Diablo, Aidan becoming the Dark Lord, Summoners in Final Fantasy X taking Sin's place.
As a kid, I missed all this. I never really understood that these people were the actual heros. Tragic. Truly dark. They fought so hard against the evil that is hell, only to be followed by said evil. Hell has an eternity to see it's plans to fruition and I'm sure would spare no heinous act to spite those who once crossed them. Perhaps fighting such a battle against a primordial evil is an inevitability. Perhaps such sacrafices must be made to push back the tides of hell. True heros. It doesn't matter what they did after their sacrafices, for it was not of their own will. If not for them, who knows what could have happened. You can only wonder what might happen to the heros to come after them, and even after those heros and well... Man I miss stories like this. A lot of modern stuff really lacks the oomph, especially the darker stories.
Storywise, this is a sad story to the three heroes of tristram. Imagine, if this fate also happens to all D3 characters. I don't know whether Diablo fans will be happy or sad since D3 is hated by so a lot of die hard fans.
I wonder if there’s going to be a video on the fates of the Heroes from Diablo 3 such as the Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Wizard, Monk, Necromancer and Witch Doctor.
it never ceases to amaze me how many people dont know shit thats put right in the open in games but they skip dialogue cuz they cant be bothered to listen to 15 seconds of speech. THEN they say ph wow i didnt know that and ive played like sooooo many times! *roll eyes*
Where does it say that the warrior is the prince? (And thus Leoric is your dad and Diablo's host is your younger brother?) I don't remember any of that being the story and none of that seems to fit even how it was told in D1. Unless it was retconned.
some of their fates are told in D3, in Act 2 of D3 you encountered a necromancer whose master is the necromancer from D2, the other one is the wizard a playable class in D3 and her teacher is the sorcerer from D2, the rest are still unknown, it was also planned that the barb from D2 will be the barb in D3. but it was scrapped due to unknown reasons. and in the reaper of souls DLC final act.. i think on the well of souls stage. you'll be seeing the spirits of the old D2 characters, helping out the class you chose that is related to the D2 character. but it think most of em died not getting crazy like the D1 characters.
@@cezar30k82 for some reason I always equated the random necro you find in act 2 (I think?) in d3 was the necro in d2...but he could have just been some random necromancer

Diablo 1 was the best Diablo and there will never be a better Diablo unless they come up with some radical innovation. You can make replicas, but they will never have as much impact on a macro overview. The only reason more people mention Diablo 2 when they want to glorify the series and talk shit about the newest Diablo game is their own age, not the game itself. By the time D2 was out many more had access to Internet and it was getting more and more mainstream. I really missed the music and the darker atmosphere in D1 but its pretty much impossible to make a better game because, it was made right in time for the golden age of Internet. Playing through IPX was a thing that some people did but not on daily basis, null modem cables existed but I never heard of pretty much anyone using them. They where simple, just a cable but few software supporting it and finding a friend who actually had a computer.. the interest and a way to move his computer to yours or the other way around was just too inconvenient. What Diablo 1 gave us was not only a good game, it was easy to acess and play over TCP/IP and 28,8-33,6kbps modems where the most common ones (im pretty sure it had support for IPX as well but I dont remember) I know games like Quake did at least. This in it self was very exciting and this excitement will be hard to replicate for any game designer but I wish you good luck with that. At the time we used to pay per hour so the cost was around 1$ except for me, I was too eager so I connected to a long distance call server and had to pay more than twice the fee. 1000 hours in Diablo = 8000 dollar bill. So we "pioneers" pretty much paved the path for everyone to come, you should bow down before us and tank us but you are all ignorant snowflakes.
How ca you say that? When you need a lot of health potions to make it alive as you further(you need at some point to have in your inventory too) and spend a lot of gold on it, items are expensive, small inventory, when you run is a bit more like a normal walk, you hardly find good items... Only thing good is the story and aspect/design of graphics and the atmosphere. Things has to progress... Most of you want same thing but with a better design. Like you want a classic car(one of first models) with just a better looking hood. How about the mechanism for a better handling and safety etc

Aidan was totally destroyed by the end of diablo 1. His hometown was undervsiege from demons. He had seen so many tortured and killed by his people. Probably been hurt alot aswell. He killed his dead arisen father, and when he killed Diablo and took the soulstone, he found it was his young brother all along. On top of that, the soulstone called to him and he felt he had to contain the soul of diablo, by connecting it to his body and his soul. However, he was not strong enough!

on top of all that, even if they didn't do it on purpose (which we all know is doubtful seeing how money hungry they have proven to be).. blizzard north had nothing to do with it, in fact, they were disbanded before it's release... so they had a bunch of newbies--to blizzard, all professionals in their own right--with a brand new game. They would be crucified if they didn't follow direction.
Blizzard knew the market for diablo wasn't vast, but if they could get all their WoW demographic to buy, then... profit.
The fact you even say that make me think you're just fanboying a trash WoW ARPG
in other words, the story and NPC talks of Diablo 1 and 2 are both worth paying attention to.
This
Yup. They didn't skimp out on lore, and callbacks and stories of characters stretch through multiple games. Even the opening shots of the Diablo IV trailer are the shots from the original Diablo opening video. They love stringing it all together, and 4 will likely continue that tradition, even if the company in charge is slowly eroding the development studio.
...... Yeah.... Slowly eroding.....
..... I guess it's more like a building coming down.
@@AlexanderDraconis The "Diablo" from 3 don't even look like Diablo. Those horns on its head are 100% generic horns.

I didn't find out about what happened to The Heroic Three, until I played Diablo III.. cause I didn't really played 2 with a focused mindset, I didn't realize what was goin' on. III was great in filling The "Gaps".
I knew the warrior plot but always forgot the rogue and wizard plots. Usually accidentally always killed blood raven before grabbing the quest without realizing I needed her or there was lore. Then the mage I don't remember at all.
@Game LORE Dash always thought the original hero, would beat this curse and beat Diablo in 2 and not be the villain
when you are a blizzard character, you know you will never die in peace.
Heroes never die! But for real real... It's not Blizzard anymore.
Amazing how detailed D1 and D2 were together, I had no clue about some of the lore and it's awesome. Goes to show you how much Blizzard has dropped the ball on this franchise now.
Most every game/game dev has gone down in quality and depth of lore as time goes on. Not all, but most.
On all their franchises actually
That was due to Blizzard North Team doing the heavy lifting to make Diablo the best series.
They resigned after *"ACTIVISION"* Blizzard didn't listen to them.
Yeah, but all the stuff about the warrior in D1 being a prince was not in the game, was it? They retconned it in. So I find it difficult to praise D1's story for that.
Diablo Immortal has joined the chat
I played Diablo a lot as a kid, but never completed it. I was heartbroken to come back to it as an adult and hear about the ultimate fate of the three main characters. All those hours spent painstakingly building them up, fighting my way through legions of hellspawn, on ironman mode no less (I didn't have a memory card to dedicate to the 15 blocks needed for Diablo saves) only to find out that was how it ended. But that's the power of a tragedy.
Next video: "The TRAGIC untold facts behind what happened to the heroes of Diablo 2:"
They are now playing Diablo Immortal.
So sad of what has become of this Epic series.
This game was amazing and I still play every once in a while but since Activation and Blizzard became a thing, they are going to turn it into the next Call of Duty.

Diablo 1 is the game I miss the most.
It would be an awesome remaster.
Stay a while and listen
Damn that was informative. Answered a lot of questions I didn't really know I had. Good Work!
The point of no return was when they changed the warrior's background.
Diablo 2's ambience is unmatched.

I agree
Totally agree.
yeah we all do. its garbage
yeah. kinda like the terminator movies. 1 is great. 2 is awesome and then only came shit after shit. i'm more hyped for d2 resurrected than d4 for that reason. why they have to ruin everything that was good in my youth?
They should remaster these games for pc and console, like beamdog did with baldurs gate

Diablo 2 remake coming soon if you didnt already know :)
Diablo 3 was more like WoW wearing a skinsuit of Diablo
Maybe one day we see horror like Diablo game or remake. D3 was more like epic journey, D4 looks the same. D1 was scary af, music, ambient sound, voiceovers...sick and scary.

@@reuterss306 depends on what your measuring stick is for quality. I swear, Sanctuary’s only hope is to live in a reality where Angels and Demons cannot exist at all in. Something so mute and mundane that their magic and powers are dead zoned if they enter
a lot like greek mythos
go lesser gods could exist in a place where the true god chronos resides because chronos always ends up consuming everything weather he wants to or not, so zues, hades and posideon all worked together to create a barrier between our dimension and his, basically nullifying all godly powers in our realm, making it so if I god even touched our world, they would forever be trapped inside of it never to be able to go back to the god world
@Fujiwara No Flashback ayy there is 3 layers.

Middle layer, where zeus and secondary gods are,
then our world.

I remember, when Diablo 2 came out I bought it the first day it was in the stores (the only game I ever bought on day one). I tried to play the first Diablo first, but maybe I was still too young to get into it. Like 16 year old teenagers are usually into the most fancy looking graphics and newest games available - at least I was like that. I got hooked up by the trailers, intro and overall graphics and music of D2 too much to get anything out of D1 at that time. I started to appreciate the greatness of D1 only many many years later.

A lot of modern stuff really lacks the oomph, especially the darker stories.
it was back when games actually carried the story through expansions instead of retconning
Storywise, this is a sad story to the three heroes of tristram. Imagine, if this fate also happens to all D3 characters. I don't know whether Diablo fans will be happy or sad since D3 is hated by so a lot of die hard fans.

Where does it say that the warrior is the prince? (And thus Leoric is your dad and Diablo's host is your younger brother?) I don't remember any of that being the story and none of that seems to fit even how it was told in D1. Unless it was retconned.
even in defeat evil has a way of winning
what about the heroes of Diablo 2?
maybe we will fight them in d4. Imagine killing the necromancer or something
some of their fates are told in D3, in Act 2 of D3 you encountered a necromancer whose master is the necromancer from D2, the other one is the wizard a playable class in D3 and her teacher is the sorcerer from D2, the rest are still unknown, it was also planned that the barb from D2 will be the barb in D3. but it was scrapped due to unknown reasons. and in the reaper of souls DLC final act.. i think on the well of souls stage. you'll be seeing the spirits of the old D2 characters, helping out the class you chose that is related to the D2 character. but it think most of em died not getting crazy like the D1 characters.
heroes of diablo 2 were killed by the most evil force of all - blizzard entertainment.
@@cezar30k82 for some reason I always equated the random necro you find in act 2 (I think?) in d3 was the necro in d2...but he could have just been some random necromancer

Neither did blizzard. he was retconned into aidan in D2. He never refers to his family as such in D1 because none of the main characters had background.
How about the mechanism for a better handling and safety etc
wrong blood raven wasn';t made undead she was a corrupted human she never officially died.
I am pretty sure you find here in the grave-yard, and you MUST kill her to advance the story.
So she is dead!

Such a cool lore explanation, but what became of the Monk, Bard and Barbarian?
They weren' canon, so they don't have a story. The barbarian in Diablo 2 and Monk in Diablo 3 are a different characters
He never thought to just carry the soul stone rather than sticking it in his head.

Incredible all i knew was the warrior became diablo never realized what happened to the other 2...also how about the 2 secret characters i think one was a monk(unlocked by editing d1hellfire files)
No, the monk was part of hellfire, which was an official expansion but made by Sierra, not Blizzard. The file edits were for the Bard and the Barbarian. also there was the cow quest and theo quest.
What was the logic behind putting the soul stone in your own head? Why not keep it locked away or destroy it?
lore wise, Aidan doesn't fit as Leoric son and as Albrecht's brother AT ALL!
It would be like: "rest in peace father, i will reascure my brother", instead he is detached from all that, like he doesn't belong to that family.
thats all D3 bad lore choises and plotholes!
they retconned the Warrior's background... after Diablo 2 was released
How about Diablo 1 Expansion HellFire with the Monk ? any lore relate to that ?
