      you don't think John Meadows understands how his legs are affected by this exercise? Especially while being coached by THE Tom Platz?

    • @mountaindog1
      @mountaindog1  11 років тому +179

      emanuel tortorici yes it can. Ideally someone is shorter (short femurs) and has some flexibility when doing these. Tom looks at the persons body type heavily when he considers whether someone should do these or not. Great question.

      There’s actually a name for that. It’s called myo reps. The idea is that the last 5 reps of a 15 rep set is where most of the growth stimulus is applied to the muscle. So you do 15 and take a small 10-15 second break and do 5 more, break and 5 more. The idea is to keep your body in the last 5 rep range through the whole set. And it will blow you up, downside is, even tho I work out pretty strenuously, if done correctly, those sets can be brutal.

    A master of intensity! I am 45 years natural and 62 years of age and I bring intensity to every workout! I have a home gym, power rack, DBs from 5 to 100 O bar, trap bar and a few goodies but I have been enjoying my $10 PFitness membership, (particularly in January, my gym is in the garage) but to the point, trainees at PF do not know what to do with me! I have not been spoken to yet but I know no other manner of training! That set above is not every set for me, far from it but working out a body part, I am going close to failure, with maximum intensity, each set after the warm-up, and there will be the last set of some type where I press beyond complete failure. Failure on the squat - no, that would be silly but after that on the machine leg press - yes and beyond!
