- I never stop looking for wildlife, so on a recent family trip to Edinburgh I couldn't help myself but have a look for some local wildlife. I was not disappointed as just outside of the caravan park where we stayed the coast was peppered with sea and shore birds, including 2 species I have never seen before!

The one that nearly got away ...Beautiful filming Liam and glad I found it ..Thumbs up 726
Welcome to Scotland Liam .
Thank you. I will definitely be back later this year :)
440 Seedless grapes should be the standard unit of weight measurement from now on.
I'll see what I can do :D
Brilliant
Thank you Liam !!!
Thanks for watching Tim!
Niceville! We'll be back! Because, wherever you go? You bring us along!
What a wonderful video Liam. How wonderful to see several species that you haven’t seen before. The scenery was lovely too. The water was moving fast where the Eider ducks were. Thank you so much. ❤
Great trip to Scotland Liam, glad you enjoyed it.
The Carrion Crow didn’t want curly hair - love it! Also loved the weight comparison of the Eider duck!
Another great video Liam. Great to see new birds not good. With that sewage pipe. Polluting the wildlife's food in the sea. Around it
Thanks Paul. I believe that pipe is from a water treatment place rather than sewage, thats what a local told me anyway.
Nice one Liam that was a good video, thanks
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Hi dear lovely Liam ❤❤❤❤❤❤ thank uuuuuu ❤❤❤❤ best wishes for u and your dear family 👪 ❤ 😊
Welcome to Scotland! I’d highly recommend North Berwick and any boat trips you can get on there. There’s of course Bass Rock full of Gannets, and the Isle of May full of puffins - but also a ton of other seabirds. I was lucky enough to see a shag nesting with two chicks on the cliffs last year. I’d also recommend Musselburgh - there you can reach the mouth of the esk which is visited by eiders, goosanders, all sorts - id heard bird watchers talk about king eiders there before but I’d never seen them myself. Both are pretty close to Edinburgh and easily accessible through the bus system.
Thank you, I'll be back soon and will add those places to my list of sites to visit.
I like your videos and I was glad to see you found the Eider. He is my favourite duck and it's called Ærfugl here. Living on the fjord edge we see up to four pairs a day together, and now in Springtime being fruity. One pair is quite friendly and likes bread as the other ducks do. When the sun is behind the house one can see them swimming underwater.
Once I saw a flock of several hundred in a group fishing. They were synchronised swimmers. The front row wound go under followed by the next and the next until they were all under. Then they came back up again in sequence.
The male Eider is quite beautifugl!
Hope enjoyed your Scottish visit. Great that you found the shag, and what a great little bird the turnstone was! Nice one! 😊 👍
Cheers Alan. The Shag was a lucky bonus and I will never get tired of seeing turnstones :)
Soaking crust to avoid curly hair!🤣👍 440 seedless grapes to weigh an Eider duck! Your getting a bit fussy about your snacks to, spoilt on nature reserve cake no doubt!🤣 Great video Liam. Thank you 🙏☺️
Eiders and Shags are quite common on the coasts up here, I'm glad you got to see them. Hope those gulls didn't keep you awake on caravan roof.
Ah, great video! It's always good to travel somewhere and see new things. I just got back from Bempton and Filey and managed to tick 4 lifers; Purple sandpiper, Red-throated diver, Common Scoter and Grasshopper warbler. Was overjoyed!
Always love seeing a new video, hope fatherhood is treating you well mate!
Marvellous Liam. Great footage! Good to see the launch of your international stardom! We’ll get you to Provence yet!!! 😂
💖💖
So many beautiful lucky finds in this video !
My daughter did a science degree at Edinburgh a couple of years ago, and it always seems to be windy there, plus the exam scheduling is positively insane, as your sibling will soon discover !
Keep an eye on the water when on the banks of the Firth of Forth - you'll often see a grey seal sticking its head above the surface, or even find them hauled out in quiet places.
Cheers Kevin! I always forget how spoiled we are in Norfolk with a massive population of Grey Seals, there is even a resident one in a local river which is more than 20 miles from the sea (as the water flows). I didnt spot any during my Scotland trip, but I will be back soon enough and will pay closer attention.
Lovely to see the Eider duck and Shag. I've seen the Turnstones in Poole harbour, beautiful birds along with the Redshanks there. Thanks Liam, hope you had a nice time in lovely Scotland.
Thank you. I have seen turnstones in Cornwall before but that was at a time when I wasnt making videos... If you can believe such a time existed! I will be back to scotland soon enough.
Nice one Liam, love watching the turnstones. Glad you got to see the Eiders and Shag. I can highly recommend Musselburgh scrapes on your next trip up here. Thanks for posting 👍
Always good to get a lifer or two. My first Eider was from a beach of your home county. Titchwell 1994! My first Shag (calm down boys!) was Aberdeenshire 2001. 🙂
Thanks Liam, looks like you had a great trip to Scotland.
It was nice, I only managed to squeeze in a little bit of wildlife watching around exploring the local pubs and defeating an escape room for the very first time... But I will be back soon for sure. Cheers!
A fantastic film Liam. Scotland has a plethora of bird life, if you ever get chance visit the area around Kincardine bridge. You may even see dolphins.
Thanks Pete. I will keep that place in mind for the next time I visit, which should be later this year.
I remember seeing eider for the first time, a sure sign that you are further north. I hope you had the chance to try a haggis and chip supper. Excellent video as always Liam. 👍🏻
Thank you. I did have the chance but wasnt feeling too great so didnt want to risk it on this trip. Next time I am up there, which should be later this year, I will give it a try.
Amazing video Liam and some great clips
Lovely part of the world enjoy 👌👌👍
Cheers! I will be back soon enough to find some more of the wildlife that lives there.
Nice work Liam, hunting for more species 👍
You left no stone unturned! 😄
Haha, cheers Tim! I'll be back up there soon to hopefully find more new wildlife.
Nice to get lifers. Though those are two I almost take for granted.
😄👍
Thanks Jill!
Really loved this, thanks Liam
I coincidentally took a trip to Edinburgh a few days ago and also saw Eider Ducks for the first time. Beautiful birds.
I spotted what I thought were Cormorants in the same area. I wonder now if some or all may have been Shags.
Watching the Gannet’s bombing the water was also amazing to see.
Glad to see you in Scotland, Liam. Ceud mile failte.
Great video Liam, Thanks. Next time you visit you could try Musselburgh Lagoons just a few miles up the road from where you were. A fantastic place to see waders and a couple of months ago a large flock of Waxwings.
Well done Liam impressive walk. Very cold wind too. Thanks for posting 👍
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed the video :)
You know a lot more about seedless grapes (and wildlife) than me!
Haha, I have no idea why I included that unit of measurement... but I guess most people know how big a grape is.
Great video again, I worked in Scotland for many years on the East coast ,and it can get B@@@@ cold up there in winter.
Nice one buddy! I bet you didn’t want to come home eh lol 😂 Eider Ducks are one of my favourite birds! I love Scotland back off up there soon myself 😊… top vid bud! No cake! 🎂 😮 😂
Fab video Liam, you were about a mile away from where I live! I hope you managed a visit to the Bird Hides at Levenhall Links, they are superb.
Brilliant Liam. I've never actually seen an Eider first hand, but I've seen plenty of Shags on the coast and even on the Water of Leith in Edinburgh. Usually when you see them there are Cormorants around as well, making them easier to distinguish by comparison.
😮👏👌
Cheers Paul!
Fantastic footage as always and I enjoyed watching thanks pal
Top notch 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼
Lovely exposed sewage pipe there.. really fits it with the landscape 😳
I believe that is actually for treated water instead of sewage. But it was unsightly none the less!
I saw lots eider ducks last week on a stay in Seahouses
Most enjoyable as ever; o'course, The University of Edinburgh is a most distinguished one, good choice for many subjects, with a track record more solid even than Solid Stuart M'c Solid, all Scotland Homogeneity Champeen.. 🌟👍
no cake, sad snack! i don't think Ive seen eider, but shag can sometimes be seen on the test
Another great video. Any chance of a link or a mention of the site you stayed on?
Nice video Liam, did you spot the Great Northern Diver in the background of one of the shots?
Hi. Just looking again I don't think there are any great northern divers in shot. Don't want to be annoying but I think you're seeing 1st winter eiders in the background.
Hi Steve. I definitely didnt notice any in real life and thought they were all juvenile eider... but I will go back through the raw footage when I have a few minutes and take a closer look. Cheers!
The loon duck are there any found in the uk canals or lakes ? Do you have a video on them at all ?.
Loon Duck? Do you mean the Great Northern Diver? If so, yes, they are pretty common in Scotland , particularly on the west coast.
As Philip has said, in the UK we call them great northern divers, but I havent been lucky enough to see one yet.
Another great video. How do you get all your wildlife footage?
440 seedless grapes ?😳
International, Scotland is still part of Britain for now. That may change in the future who knows?
Well, Scotland is often referred to as its own country, which is part of the United kingdom and I did cross a border on the way there. But I am also guilty of referring to the UK as a country whilst also calling England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales countries as well.
Which UK pocket book bird identifier is the best to buy??
Don't know were you live but if you go to Southend at the end of the pier.
While you were in foreign parts you should of gone looking for red squirrels
Interesting but blurry footage.
Thanks. They were a long way off but I dont think the footage looked too blurry when I exported it.
I live in edinburgh :)
It seems like a great city. If my brother does decide to go to university there I will definitely be back soon.
