Just finished the hike last Saturday!! It was MAGICAL! And ROUGH!!! I am still recovering physically.. lol Went counterclockwise. Camped at Guyot, then Garfield, then hiked out. So many amazing views and memories!
Great hiking adventure guys. Loved the forestry. You are right, One thing videos cannot capture is the smells of the bush! Awesome summit views from Mt Garfield. Love the wild flowers and fungi along the way. More great views from 12:56 and 13:36 Beautiful sunset guys. Stunning views from Summit of Bond Mountain. The views to Bond cliff are beautiful. Looks like you guys had a challenging hike guys. Stay Safe 👍🏽🙏🏽🤗
That sunset was amazing. We were all just ready to be at camp, but all three of us ended sitting on that mountain just taking it in. It really was one of the most amazing experiences of any backpacking trip we’ve been on.
They make the best Christmas trees! 🎄 We definitely got some good NH hikes in this summer. Now looking forward to the snow flying and some good skiing.
Wow guys - this looks fantastic! Bummer start in the rain - love the lake view & the reflections in the water! Wow - at 10:28 the skies turned awesome for you guys! Love 15:12 the sun setting behind you guys - beautiful! Oh no - "the mountain struck back" - glad it wasn't worse! Thanks guys - loved this trek!
Thanks for watching! It’s definitely hard to get out of a dry, comfortable car and start hiking in the rain, but thankfully we knew it was just that afternoon with better weather coming. The sunset and sunrise from up high were amazing. Just one of a kind experiences.
It’s well worth it! Wish the weather had cooperated a bit more for us, but no complaints. Moe did it later in the fall as a single day trek and besides being grueling, loved it all strung together like that.
Even the rain didn’t turn out too badly (it could have been worse), but the last two days really were stunning and we were lucky to get to the Bonds on such a nice day.
Outstanding video, boys! That looked like an extremely brutal hike, but the many summit views were criminally magnificent! I’m so glad your knee and leg have healed, Jeff! Now, if you guys had hiked just 1/64 of the trail the Brits would say you did the…Hemi-Demi-Semi-Pemi Loop! I’ll see myself out! 🤣
🤣🤣 And now we know! Definitely want to go back and do it all without falling and with better weather! Even though we’d done the western side before, I think all of it looped together would be simply amazing.
Hi Jeff Moe wow the blurb said it was a tuff trail (oh boi that was sketchy the climb and decent of Garfield (hard going)) The views where super though 🤩🏔🏔 Shame about the tumble Jeff sounded nasty (glad nothing too serious) sucked at the time though 🙏🏼 Very best wishes Simon 😊🙏🏼🏔
Definitely some sections (especially between Garfield and the Hut) are the roughest trails we’ve come across in the Whites. Yes thankfully nothing really problematic from the fall besides being out of commission for a few weeks. Thanks for stopping by!
“This is where I break my leg” “ butttttt, we’d get more views” That was kinda funny. Until you threw Jeff down at the end for ratings. That was a fun video. The waterfall trail made me slightly nervous lol. For Christmas get Moe a gizmo vest for his Garmin Inreach. That bouncy gps makes me cray cray lol. Nice job.
Moe can be cruel 🤣 Really glad you enjoyed the trip and the video! Yes that section of Garfield on the waterfall isn’t our most favorite section of trail. We keep meaning to get some of those pockets for the chest straps to hold odds and ends - Moe is famous for having lots clipped to a pack and one less thing would be good.
But I bet you didn't have trouble securing a site at Thirteen Falls though! 😆 That scene at Guyot sounds rough. As does the long hike out with those injuries. Haven't done the Franconia Brook trail yet but it looked pretty smooth?
No, there were sites at 13 falls lol, though they were all kind of crappy. I barely had space for a 2 person tent in the one I got. Guyot was just a pain in the butt. Super crowded and filled with weekend warriors, including the person who got up at 4am and packed their backpack in the shelter and every bag they had sounded like crinkling up tin foil. That’s how I managed to get the sunrise shots since I was already up lol. Injury sucked, but I think I was running on adrenaline for most of the descent. Sitting in the car is what really locked the muscle down and once that happened, it was painful enough I went to the doctor the next day.
I had the same question, the Thirteen Falls campsite looked like it didn't have much. I have never been there, but I read they have 24 tent sites. What if any amenities do they have? I stayed at Guyot with a crowd of 75 people. Very crowded, but the had all the amenities (nearby water, bear boxes, privy, shelter, tent platforms, and cooking area with tarp). I hope you both recovered from your injuries.
@@OutdoorsWithJohnUSA at 13 falls you got a relatively small and pretty rocky campsite (they are all built up from rocky ground and the dirt doesn’t completely cover up the rocks), a privy, and a broken bear box. All for the low price of $15 per person. Moe was good from his fall pretty quickly. Took longer here. About 4 weeks on and I’m finally back to walking normally and getting back to hiking and stuff.
Hey thanks for the great Video! I am from Europe and it would be my first hike in the US. I want to to it in about 2 weeks. How does it work over there? Do you need a license for staying at the shelters, or can you just go, do you have to book them in advance?
Most of the primitive camp sites and leantos in the northeast US are first come, first serve. In the White Mountains of NH some are reservation based or require payment when you arrive. There are also huts in the White Mountains run by AMC, which require reservations and payment. If you look in our video description there’s a link to the White Mountains guidebook. You should get yourself a copy of that and it will give you all the details on what’s free and first come, first serve and what you have to pay for and get reservations for.
Thanks for the pronunciation guide! We are always learning. Thankfully no bear the night we stayed, but it had been there the day before and it had gotten into the bear box (better bear box AMC???) so it all felt kind of pointless. We did have a bear canister and bear bag so felt better off than those who just filled box with ziploc bags.
@@OutdoorsWithJohnUSA that’s our guess. It really wasn’t a traditional lock that you’d see on a bear box either. Bears can be pretty creative and my guess this one has practiced.
Great hike/backpacking triü, beautiful pictures. Wonderful scenery. Thank you for sharing
It was an amazing trip! Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for stopping by to watch.
Beautiful and refreshing place around amazing view of nature enjoy and have a great day
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. We hope you check our other ones out too!

Glad to hear that you had such a good time!! It's one of the amazing and rugged treks in the Whites. We love it and can't wait to do it again.

Awesome trip. You sure are making me miss those White Mountains
Come and visit! We got a lot of White Mountain hikes in this summer so feeling really lucky.
Beautiful hike! I always enjoy lake views and the beautiful reflection it creates. ❤
Yes, those ponds along the trail to 13 falls were so pretty. Thanks for watching!
You mentioned the smell of balsam. My dad always got that for our Christmas trees. I've enjoyed all your videos from New Hampshire this summer.

I will be VERY disappointed with myself if I do not complete a Pemi Loop summer 2023. Awesome video, such a great place.

Beautiful ascent comrades. Keep up the good work. You're great The Hiker Trash Husbands. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day. I'm a big fan of yours.
Thanks!
Very nice trek! The weather turned out to be very nice after the rain. Very cool minus the tumbles.

In case you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about…in music, in British English, a 1/64 note is called a Hemi-Demi-Semiquaver.
🤣🤣

I definitely have to get back there, again, and do some hiking. The Whites are incredibly gorgeous!
I want to do the whole Pemi with you guys, hopefully in better weather. 😂
Two out of the three days were good weather!
