Nah. There are loads of iconic and legendary synthesisers. Harbinger of a new way of synthesis, most definitely. But you'd have to include the Minimoog, the Fairlight CMI, the Synclavier, the aforementioned Emulators, the Roland D50, the Korg M1, the Yamaha VL1, the Nord Lead... etc. And then I'm forgetting the polysynths, like the Yamaha CS-80 and the Roland Jupiter-8, or the completely oddball Yamaha creations like the GX-1.

Korg M1 blows compared to DX7 or D50 & alot of other things for that matter. Only thing halfway decent about it was maybe (at best) the rudimentary sequencer which was relatively easy to use & ya could sequence other better sounding instruments via MIDI (that's why it was such a good seller) Otherwise it pretty much sounded like crap even with all the different models that were offered. Even though it's probably the first semi-workstation it was still lacking. Unless it was heavily processed with alot outboard efx (the internal one's were not that great either) Then guess it became somewhat usable most pro's would agree IMHO folks.

Everyone shows clips of Brian May using one in the studio working on "One Vision" on a DX-7, but usually the audio out is not connected, just the midi, so he's clearly using it to control another synth. You can't tell for sure in this shot, but in other clips you can see that's the case. It definitely doesn't sound like a DX-7. He is actually using it in Who Wants to Live Forever though, that is definitely Syn Orch preset in the intro before the real orchestra comes in. In the live clip of that song you can see the audio is connected.

Dx 7 Definitely the keyboard of the 80's

The original MK1 dx7 still the greatest. Has the gritty DAC that can't be emulated by software. These songs were produced mostly from dx7 presets but FM is limitless in its patch creation. Picking my DX7 MK1 up tonight and can't wait!

The DX7 mk1 is the most classic of FM synthesizers. I'm a programmer for this keyboard. View my videos. Thanks.

ah come on dude, you forgot Mr Mister - Kyrie (Live in New York, 1985), they are using the Yamaha DX7 on the intro with Electric Piano shimmering style, that’s the ultimate 80s electric piano ever, how did you forgot that.

El mas icónico de los teclados, un escalón abajo el KORG M1 pero también célebre. Mención especial a sus mejores musicos JENS JOHANSSON y JON LORD

No early-mid 90’s clips of nine inch nails? They used plenty on stage….. mind you they ended up in bits😂
