guys hear me out...what if we all just collectively didn't play the octaves jumps, everyone will get the same points docked for not playing it, and it'll be like it was never there😎
Similar with Miguel, I had those thoughts coming from middle school into freshman year, stay committed and dont lose hope. It definitely is a big jump in difficulty but it will only make you a better player. Good luck and I hope to hear if you make All-Region (or beyond 🥳)
WE BACK BOIS!!!!!! Shoot, going through region again feels so weird. Welp, get ready to record yourselves in camera😂 Hopefully this time I make area. Where my Sophomores at!?!?!?

Most people have a 5-7 break in process where you gradually increase the amount of time you play each reed. Something like this: Day 1: 30 sec Day 2: 1 minutes Day 3: 3 minutes Day 4: 5 minutes Day 5: 10 minutes The idea is to try to get the reed to get used to the process of being wet and dried. Many people like soaking their reeds before playing them, but that never really worked for me. It is critical that you physically dry the reed with your fingers after each day. You are trying the stabilize the reeds by making it less porous. After about 5 days, you can start to work on them if they are warped or not balanced. I recommend keeping your reeds on a reed case that has glass to minimize warp, but if you live in a very humid environment, you're always going to have problems keeping the reed flat. When I played cane, I would get about 3 weeks of playing from a box of 10 reeds with this process.
For the Eb to Eb octave jump should I use the 1 and 4 fingering for the lower Eb? Should I also use this fingering on the 3rd etude with the Eb octave jump?
Not much you can really do about this. If you have trouble going over the break fast, make sure your left index finger touches the A key with the knuckle and not the fleshy part of your finger.
I am doing one trill or 3 notes. The whole figure would be a quintuplet if you include the grace notes. I don't recommend doing a double trill unless you intend to play this a lot slower.
Would there be a better way to trill starting on the measure 73? I’m using c sharp key for g sharp and I can’t get the following grace notes sound clear.
Is there any syllable for the 1/16 notes. For the 1/8 notes, it's 1 la li 2 la li. I know how 6/8 time works, but I don't know how to play the 1/16 and 1/32 notes.
Sorry to say, but you don't understand 6/8 time. There are no triplets in this etude which is what 1 la li would apply to. This etude can be counted in either 6 or 2. Either 6 beats per measure with the eighth note getting the beat or in 2 with the dotted quarter (3 eighth notes) getting the beat. So if you count this with the eighth note getting the beat, the printed 16th notes would be counted like 8th notes (1 and 2 and) and the 32nd notes would be counted like 16th notes ( 1 e and a 2 e and a).
Which etude is the Fast and Articulation Etude this year? I know that the 2nd etude this year is always slow. Last year, the 1st etude was the fast one, and the 3rd one was the articulation etude.
When I’m playing alternate c#, it’s not nearly as responsive as the normal fingering. Is it just user error or is something possibly wrong with my clarinet?

Honestly with some practice, they're really not insanely hard. I thought the same thing with last years and made the Region Band. If I can, you can

What’s the best way to break in new reeds out of the box and to get the best sound and best life out of them?
Most people have a 5-7 break in process where you gradually increase the amount of time you play each reed. Something like this:
Day 1: 30 sec

Any advice on how to play the trills along with the grace notes on measures 3 and 4?
*measures 2 and 4
@Eric Chi
It's easiest to think of them as a single 5 note unit.
makes me sad hearing how it’s supposed to be played 💀

it’s gonna suck when i don’t make region as a sophomore but i made it as a freshman 😃
I'm in the exact same boat
Just practice the cuts and you'll be fine lol
And the octave jumps here don't match the one in the other clarinet etude from this year
I'm bout to get kicked out of wind ensemble because this hard
Just remember if you play guitar for 3 years and be really fast on it you will have fast fingers perfect for your clarinet
I want to learn guitar after I graduate because the speed won't be too much of a problem (hopefully). I've also wanted to learn guitar for years
For the Eb to Eb octave jump should I use the 1 and 4 fingering for the lower Eb? Should I also use this fingering on the 3rd etude with the Eb octave jump?
You can if you find it easier, just make sure the bridge is aligned correctly. My preference is to use the side for that interval.
There were times it sounded like MIDI, I'm suspicious...
This is a MIDI
Anyone else cramming last minute?

any advice on the 32nds in m47?
Not much you can really do about this. If you have trouble going over the break fast, make sure your left index finger touches the A key with the knuckle and not the fleshy part of your finger.
Eric Chi olay that makes sense, thank you very much!
Bro we should just play the first etude from last year and make then think they're in the wrong year
For trilled notes preceding two grace notes, are you playing quintuplets?
I am doing one trill or 3 notes. The whole figure would be a quintuplet if you include the grace notes. I don't recommend doing a double trill unless you intend to play this a lot slower.
Thank you for the advice!
Eric are you okay there’s new etudes to upload
I'm on vacation. The new etudes will be up by the end of next week.
Anyone know when phase 1 results come out?
I play trombone why am I here???
I hate measures 72-76 :(
can anyone give me tips on the octave jumps this is my first time trying region and im a senior and i have almost no clew on how to practice for them
Just do them so much that you can read just the bottom note and know the next note.
Infact, just memorize the entire thing
Would there be a better way to trill starting on the measure 73? I’m using c sharp key for g sharp and I can’t get the following grace notes sound clear.
Unfortunately no. There's no easy way to alternate between G# and F#, just practice.
Is there any syllable for the 1/16 notes. For the 1/8 notes, it's 1 la li 2 la li. I know how 6/8 time works, but I don't know how to play the 1/16 and 1/32 notes.

There really isn't a fast etude this year. You can think of the 1st etude as the fast one, but it's really about articulation, ornaments, and octaves.
@@EricChiClarinet Is the 1st Etude or 3rd Etude the Articulation Etude for this year?
