- Hello all
In this video I strip and rebuild the rear hubs on my 1989 Austin Mini Designer project. The old wheel bearings were shot - the bearings were noisey and the grease had solidified. New taper roller bearings have been installed and I treated the hub the a lick of black paint.
Thanks for watching. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe :-)
Bye for now!
This video is also useful for those who have trailers that have them mini hubs
Thanks, I had not thought about that
@@BlakesDen There are trailer suspension units that have the 7/8 shaft which are designed for reclaimed mini hubs
Thumbs up mate.
Thanks 👍
By the way, should there be a spacer between the inner part of the bearing?
Cheers.
I'm glad that you mentioned that, it is something that I looked at but forgot to mention 🤦♂️
I'm short, a spacer is not needed. The inner race protrudes by about 7.5mm and the bearing spacing is about 15mm. So the two protrusions fills the gap and the bearing acts as a spacer.
I checked mini spares and although the parts diagram says spacer it also says that it is no longer available, use a bearing with a built in spacer www.minispares.com/catalogues/classic/Classic~Mechanical~Parts~Manual/Front~~Rear~Suspension/Rear~Radius~Arms~Cone~Suspension.aspx?1~8~68
@@BlakesDen That sounds a better way of doing it!
Cheers.
