Myself and friends used to do tarmac rallies in minis back in the 80s. At the beginning, navigating for a friend in their mini, they hadn't been able to get roller bearings for the rear and had put new standard bearings in ... by the end of just one day's stages, the drivers side rear wheel had at least 2 inches of play!! None of us ever used standard bearings after that ;)

I didn't see the seal go on the outside bearing. Is it just the cap that is needed? What is the torque spec for the rear?

60 ft lbs - align to next slot is rear hub nut torque.

There isn’t an outer seal (like fronts do). Some extra grease in the cap / not full.

I fiited taper rollers to the rear of my 1986 Austin Metro about 20 years ago. What is the O ring seal for??

At approx 4 Min 34 Sec, one can see a thin 0 ring in the plastic bag, this is what I'm asking about.

@@Radfordperson I had the same question, and just asked Minispares, and they said "The seal is not necessary, it was only supplied originally for Japanese cars but you can use the seal, the seal doesn’t make much difference but if you do want to use it, just put it on to the stub axle first."

what about the little o-ring in the kit? i see it, I have it too, but nowhere in your video or other videos does it say to use it, nor does any book.

I couldn’t find anything on the O ring either. I assumed in some applications it’s used.
