Later, when they met in Green Forest/White Jungle, Shadow turns the tables, accusing Sonic of being the pale reflection of himself, the ultimate lifeform. Finally, we come to this scene, where Sonic has just used Chaos Control to warp out of the exploding capsule with a "fake" Chaos Emerald, a technique he learned by watching Shadow, the "fake hedgehog," perform it with a "real" one. They learn here that neither of them was the faker, and both of them were the real deal. After all, the "fake emerald" was indistinguishable from the real one because it had the same wavelength and properties. Why then couldn't these two ultra-powerful hedgehogs be likewise? @@punkfluff3395 So would i. It's the one game i want most out of the Sonic series. However, i doubt it will ever be made. The expectations for a game called Sonic Adventure 3 are too high, and modern Sonic Team may not be able to fill them.
This game made Shadow my favorite character, but looking back on it, Sonic was pretty impressive as well. He learned Shadow’s Chaos Control on the first try (with a fake emerald no less) and avoided dying when he was supposed to.
Aside from the music being obnoxiously loud, the dialogue in this scene was all it needed to be for this interaction between arguably 2 of the most iconic rivals in video game history. I don't really consider it cheesy seeing as how Sonic is basically describing himself as a character, whom many have pointed out doesn't really go through any real changes in the first place. Just dull the volume on the BGM a bit, time the characters speaking better so it doesn't feel like they're talking over or interrupting each other, and you have a truely classic scene in Sonic game history that's hard to outdo imo.
Also should be noted a lot of the camera work like the panning opening shot, to the zoom in on the emerald, to the zoom out where they run into the void. Pretty damn good for early 3d games.
In most scenes, I prefer when characters cut over each other. It shows a sign of urgency, and when they are HERO/DARK, it makes more sense, since they are on polorized sides anyway. Shadow really doesn't care what Sonic has to say in the beginning, and Sonic is fueled by revenge when he interrupts Shadow in the forest.
i know the sound design is bad, but i've always loved this scene. Something about it is very well done. I think what it is is that the music is used a portrayal between the tension of sonic and shadow, because they BOTH know they did not just come here to meet up to talk. They had to fight, and the fact they both kept picking up pace at the same time with the music shows that they both knew exactly what the other person was thinking. I think this does a very good job and does well showing what rivalry looks like despite the fact they didnt know each other for that long.
Story wise Adventure 2 was one of the best Sonic stories. Throughout the game whenever Sonic and Shadow meet Shadow has much higher ground and looks down on Sonic every time because he sees Sonic as beneath him. But as the game progresss Sonic does so much from Escaping prison, defeating The Egg Gollum, getting to the Arc, and even managing to induce a Chaos control at this point when they meet Shadow is standing on equal ground with Sonic and look at him at his level because he sees Sonic as his equal finally. See subtext like that was never in meta era games or even in Dark era games when the stories were really good like Unleashed. Heck even as good as Frontiers story was it didn't have subtext like that.
This scene recreated, but with way more professional acting and direction! Would be 10/10. Sonic 2 movie already is the best video-game movie of all time, IMO. 3 has potential to be even better.
I haven't grew up with this game at all but I will admit, this scene looks so cool. Ignoring the production value, I like how Sonic and Shadow are portrayed and the build up to it was amazing. I wish future Sonic games have moments like this in them.
0:52 Best Part, Video shows they have a Mutual Respect and when the Music Kick in it shows the Final Battle is about to begin as they Start to Speed Up.

bruh these are literally the first voices of Sonic and Shadow of course they original
Can't wait to see these 2 interrupt each other's dialouge in the next live-action film.
Man, i miss when Sonic games had great stories. Cutscenes like this. I'd love to see an SA2 remaster.
I'd like to see an Sonic Adventure 3.
@@punkfluff3395 So would i. It's the one game i want most out of the Sonic series. However, i doubt it will ever be made. The expectations for a game called Sonic Adventure 3 are too high, and modern Sonic Team may not be able to fill them.
@@kuros2615 How come?
@@punkfluff3395 you ever played sonic forces?
@@namesarehard6199 No, but I see your point.
"You're a beta male, Sonic."
THIS BETTER BE PUT IN THE SONIC 3 MOVIE
This game made Shadow my favorite character, but looking back on it, Sonic was pretty impressive as well.
He learned Shadow’s Chaos Control on the first try (with a fake emerald no less) and avoided dying when he was supposed to.
well, shadow was right, sonics adventuring days are over, and he said this before SA2 was relaesed
Impossible i am the ultimate life form
"I don´t know, you kinda went down like a bitch"
Shadow the hedgehog game over shadow
Welp
Fight me! *WAAAAAAH!*
Shadow the hedgehog hggghhggguiyyioojhggjjjjjjhhhhhhuuuhuiiijhhhjjgg h iiuuuuuhhhyyyuuukjhjoiuuiiii
"I thought that capsule you were in explode in-"
*"YOU KNOW WHAT CAN I SAY, I DIE HARD!"*
0:53 The chills, man
The music is so memorable
Because it’s the only thing you hear
Sorry could you speak up Sonic? The fucking trumpets are too loud!
TheOneTrueStAN jfj
TheOneTrueStAN i wouldn't agree more
2nd best scene in sonic history right behind when sonic and shadow go super at the end of SA2
We are inching ever closer to getting this in the live action movies and man, I hope I'm alive to see it in theaters.
The voice cast from SA2 was top tier I really miss all them and Shadow's voice specially hasn't been as good since.
Imagine Ben and Keanu pulling this off
*Come back to this when the movie ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 3’ drops, but I have a feeling this iconic scene will be featured in the movie 🔵✅*
They have to include it
They better have this scene in the movie, including the interruptions and absurdly loud music!
We want this in Sonic 3
This has to be in the 3rd movie
Ben Schwartz VS Keanu Reeves
I HOPE this scene gets remade
in the 3rd Sonic The Hedgehog movie.
i know the sound design is bad, but i've always loved this scene.
"You're a beta male Sonic"
Shadow teaser for movie 3 today, i need this scene in the movie above all else
If Sonic doesn't say "I found you faker" i'll be so mad
This scene recreated, but with way more professional acting and direction! Would be 10/10. Sonic 2 movie already is the best video-game movie of all time, IMO. 3 has potential to be even better.
"What you see is what you get, just a guy who loves adventure!
I'm SONIC ADVENTURE 2!"
the way the actual fight starts off is so intense i love it!
I haven't grew up with this game at all but I will admit, this scene looks so cool. Ignoring the production value, I like how Sonic and Shadow are portrayed and the build up to it was amazing. I wish future Sonic games have moments like this in them.
I don't think the music was loud enough during that cutscene
0:52 Best Part, Video shows they have a Mutual Respect and when the Music Kick in it shows the Final Battle is about to begin as they Start to Speed Up.
Shadow ♥ Before this is over, I'll show the true power of chaos control!
One of the best lines in video game history!
Is no one gonna talk about how amazing this soundtrack is? Especially how it builds up is just so satisfying
This scene always gets me because it proves that Tails was able to create a fake Chaos emerald with powers that nearly rival the original.
Now imagine he created seven more of those
It matches the wavelengths and powers but not really the full capabilities. It can do chaos control but I doubt much else
"Your adventuring days are coming to an end"
He wasn't wrong.
One of my favorite scenes in the Sonic franchise
I’ll cry if this is in Sonic 3.
Me too 🥲🥲🥲
Haha. "For True Story" is one of my favorite songs from SA2 and I like how you jumped off the path after Shadow got knocked out :3 Nice bro ^.^
+HibiscusStar14 Thanks and yeah I like the idea of trying to kill myself knowing that I won't die. Lol
+NightRing007 XD who doesn't?
Despite the numerous flaws and embarrassing way this game aged, 1:07 is still the hardest intro to a boss fight Sonic has ever seen.
The amount of adrenaline I get from seeing them run neck and neck at top speed is insane
This better be in the movie ‼️
Imagine if they get David Humphrey to return as Shadow one last time in the next Sonic film.
God if they recreate this in the next Sonic movie, I can die. happy
Still one of the best intros to a boss fight in gaming history
Sonic 3 The Movie needs to copy and paste this story.
Frr
The writers for those movies are actually good and huge fans of the franchise, I actually have high hopes for once.
"I promised Maria to get revenge."
"You're wrong, Shadow. That image playing over and over in your head like a GIF, it's not the truth."
"It's pronounced jif"
"Huh?"
".GIF, like the peanut butter. The Creator said so."
"That's dumb. It's Graphics Interchange Format."
"The P in JPEG stands for Photographic, but I bet you don't say JPHEG."
"P on it's own isn't pronounced like F, that's totally different."
"It's exactly the same!"
"Name ONE word that starts with G pronounced like J."
"Gentrification."
"Shoot, should've thought of that, I was just in San Francisco!"
"For your logic to be consistent, you'd have to say "subba" or "laseer'. "
"Yeah? Well you'd have to say J-PEJ! ...Wait laser is an acronym?"
"Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation."
"Huh, didn't know that. ...You're still wrong, though."
"You just hate me because I'm right."
"I just hate you in general."
"You mean in *gen-er-al* ."
"Ugh, I am *going* to kill you!"
Did you guys know that when Sonic says "Talk about being stubborn and full of surprises" in Sonic Heroes in the pre Team Dark/Sonic battle cutscene, he's referring to his technical final conversation with Shadow here, before they face off on the ARK.
