Unironically, followed by another "dark age" of sonic even though a true sonic fan would say those dark age games are much better which i would definitely agree with. Glad Sonic frontiers changed things up again for the better.

While I still think Jason's Sonic is the best mixture of heroic and cocky, Roger's Sonic really captured that tired, sarcastic version of Sonic extremely well.

@@xgaming2427 You got everything right except for the last two. In Lost World, Eggman tried to use some of the EARTH'S energy and not Lost Hex. In Forces, I believe the torture thing was a mistranslation which is why Sonic seemed to be perfectly fine in the next cutscene or so.

Agreed. As Sonic, Rogers humour seems in character when not shoved in all the time, but Bens humour is closer to generic Hollywood humour which I have a hard time believing people below 50 will get a chuckle out of. Ik it (mostly) comes down to the scripts but still

I don't think it is as much bad as it is different. Sure a decent amount of the games in this Sonic era were not the best (or good), but I don't think it was as much Sonic as it was everything else. Sonic, even as a hero, was made to be sarcastic and cool. This version reflects just that (have not played many of the games in this era but judging from these quotes he still seems like how I'd imagine Sonic). Not saying you're wrong, but just defending what I think is worth while to defend at the very least

It was genuinely bad, though. Having lived through this era, Sonic was pretty one dimensional. He didn’t have much to him, and he refused to take anything seriously. Aside from that, each plot also refused to take itself seriously, or give attention to anyone except Sonic.
People got exhausted by this because it just wasn’t fun. This video puts a neat bow on that era, but I’m glad that it’s over, because aside from a few jokes, it was literally a huge nothing-burger.
