Praying these retired military working dogs get adopted after they have served so loyally and bravely!
God Bless the Owners Praying for them
Praying they will all find suitable homes for all these dogs who have risked their lives for the country! They deserve no less!
Mines named Elvira, her handler died after coming home. He had no family so when the handler passed the county animals shelter picked her up. She sat scared in the pound for 3mnths, bred specific rescue couldn't rehab her so she was going to be put down. I regularly adopt the unwanted and didn't know the dog was a retired TEDD, I found out her story the day I picked her up, I asked to see the ones on the euthanasia list and my girl was one of them. The only other was very aggressive and had bitten a few people so was under court ordered euthanasia. So I couldn't take him too, but it took me 4months to get my Mal comfortable enough to sleep more than an hour at a time. She's currently stuffing her face into my armpit an snoring. :) Its wonderful to take these dogs in but do know that they won't be comfortable for a little while, an unexpected noises can get to them but it is so worth it in the end.
I so wish I could adopt a soldier pup. Beautiful Creatures. God bless them and you for posting this!
Glad to know they come back and are able to be in regular society again, imagine people come back screwed in the head and flip out, these guys come back and become some of the loyalest pets... Amazing
What a honor it would be to adopt a War Hero. I wish I could get one, but I am Canadian..
God Bless The Service Dog...
What a beautiful thing to do for these beautiful and wonderful dogs!!!!
These American hero dogs deserve a loving family after retirement. These are super good dogs.
Thank you for helping these awesome dogs to find good homes. I had a Rottie... and miss him huge.. I hope I can adopt one of these! GREAT DOGS!! WARRIOR Dogs... that love so much.
sounds like a dream dog.. already trained perfectly.. perfect idea!!!
I'm so happy the Bill was passed and these wonderful dogs are now classified as veterans as they most certainly should be.
Awwwww..... yeah!!!! I am looking into getting one of these great dogs too. I am a prior Navy Sailor that works for the police department as a Civil Service employee. It warms my heart to see the MWD's working on the base. I am so happy that the bill was passed for them. They are veterans too and deserve a great forever home. Unfortunatly, since this was posted the MWD in this video has passed. I think she said his heart stopped :-( so R.I.P. MWD Benny B163 and thank for your service.
6:49 honest to god i got teary eyed, these dogs are heroes damn it
Who’s Harry Potter

I would love to adopt one!
Bella Yang. Do it adopt one you will save one life .
@@cindyr3720 how do we adopt one?
Amen Thank The Dog's For their Service Amen I Pray for A Wonderful Master's & Owners
I am not an American but am a dog person. If there are those who want to honor the memory of all the US military personnel and cannot find a way...adopt one of these dogs Please. They work for your troops..they get injured for your troops and they... die for your troops. Adopt a K9 hero for the memories of all those that have sacrificed their lives for you guys
Couldn't get a better family protector!
They are beautiful dogs....One day i want a good German Shepard. One day in Iraq I met a Great Dane from a British EOD Team named Nero.He is much a family dog protecting soldiers from IEDs.I never saw Nero again.I hope he is safe along with his handler and his soldiers....
This is somewhat sad but yet amazing. I love animals so much esp. dogs. Being the former owner of German Shepard I bought this time a Golden retriever. Not even once this dog under civilized training has let me down. I miss my old dog, but I was young when he passed away and in close future I intend to have German Shepard.
Dogs are truly man best friends. I curse and I spit on those who neglect animals in general.
Thanks to all who are helping these Heroes get back with their handlers at retirement or find them loving homes. Thank you all for your service.
Wow. So touching. Wonderful way to say thank you.
I've already adopted 6 dogs, I wish I could go for more
ill Pray for them God Bless them with Good Owners
Sorry for your loss and may Dino B264 R.I.P.
I have this guy who was an SSD that I got at the local shelter- unusual, but is an incredible lab. I understand now that there is a good adoption program and that's great
I love these heroes. I would adopt 3. The more to make a family where they can live a moral life. I have 2 now. I will look into it now. A very beautiful story & tribute to these amazing heroes, both humans and canine
I would proudly adopt a military dog right now today
Great dogs and they are in such a demand for a home-they deserve a good home & I hope they all will not be uthenized & rehabilitated in a normal household/home-
I proudly posted your video on my group called "The Day Our Pet Became Family" It is on Facebook.. I've close to 345 people in my group..They come from all over the globe.. I hope by posting this video on my group..These special heroes just, might find a loving home. Run and play in a happy world.
UPDATE: "AS OF TUESDAY , DEC 4, 2012, A BILL HAS BEEN PASSED BY THE US HOUSE AND SENATE THAT DECLARES THAT OUR MILITARY WORKING DOGS OF ALL BREEDS WILL NO LONGER BE CLASSIFIED AS "MILITARY EQUIPMENT" TO BE LEFT BEHIND IN FOREIGN LANDS...BUT AS MILITARY VETERANS. THESE DOGS NOW WILL BE RETURNING TO LACKLAND AFB , FOR THEIR SERVICES AS US HEROES. THEY WILL BE EVALUATED, AND RETRAINED AND RE-HOMED IF NEEDED."
I'm hoping I can become a dog handler in Air Force and I would definitely adopt one or two MWDs.
I am almost an army vet, if I would have room for one more dog I will adapt one of those.
I'd adopt all of them if I could.
These brave dogs need a happy safe retirement.
What must one do to adopt one of our brave soldiers? Any information available? Thank you

I was shocked when I first heard this.......the stats are about half keep their dogs, half are rehomed, the rest are put down, from 12- 30. I don't get why they put ANY down, they say some are sick, but how sick who knows. There's sick by name ( cancer, etc) an then really sick. Some they say are too aggressive, I doubt that....someone was handling them. GReat video!!
Most blessed video on UA-cam
So very glad the troops have MWDs! 🐕 🇺🇸
Rest In Peace, USAF M.W.D. Blackie....
whats it take to adopt?
my dad was a k9 officer. we spent 4 years at lackland. i was around k9s most of my life.would love to give a working dog a life
I am on a waiting list for a retired mwd dog I'm getting it in 2 months
GAG BAG mines a Belgian Mal, her names Elvira. They do tend to have separation anxiety and issues with loud unexpected noises. Thank you for adopting :)
GAG BAG where do you get them at and how much. I'm in west Virginia
How do I get on the waiting list?
Waiting list? I would think they need homes asap after watchibg this news story, but maybe they need to go through some tests and/or an adjustment period first.
Thank you so much for saving that dogs life
Can anyone adopt one of these brave dogs?
Finally doing whats right for these dogs. The thing I don't care for is a dog having several handlers. They are not a piece of equipment they you can be signed out here and there. They should be signed to one handler only. The handler would have the right to adopt once they have finished serving together. These dogs need moral like the soldiers. Shame on the Gov. for telling our soldiers you cannot bring a dog back that was your friend and showed you love that you found and took care of.
cosmo seer I agree with you 110% about having one handler. If the government was not so self centered they mite also. They treat our people and dogs like trash when they are finish with them.
Think first. The handler's tour is up and he goes home. The dog is still useful. Gets a new handler and saves more lives. Get it?
Yes! I know it's been 5 years since your comment, but these are living beings with feelings. They suffer from PSTD. They need to be sent home before this. They need to be sent home after their first surgery. To their first handler, if possible. @watchgoose, you are wrong, They train many dogs. New dog, new handler. The dog is much more effective and can save many, many lives and doesn't go home with PSTD. Get it? If you don't understand how these animals don't work, don't comment.
Bless you! May peace return to your heart one day...
Hope you can help find homes for these remarkable dogs. US soldiers have depended on their dogs for a long time. The dogs and soldiers bond closely with one another today as they did even 150 years ago in the American Civil War. You can read about dogs who accompanied soldiers in the Civil War here:
I wonder how many military lives the German Shepherd have saved in total.
I understand what you're saying but those people aren't screwed in the head they've just seen horrible things and can't cope and until you've lived with someone that is like that you will never understand.

My name is Bill and I am a former Marine I now have a Rottie but he is getting a lot of age on her and I would like to get one of your dogs. Thanks Semper Fi
What they don't tell you that I just now looked up, April 17th 2018, is that there is a 12 to 18 month waiting list to get one!
watchgoose I got one from a local shelter was used as an atf explosive detection k9. Great dog
@@kennyjewell You're the key to helping others adopt without waiting 12-18 months. How did you become aware a local shelter had a retiree for adoption? We live in DFW, which has hundreds of surrounding cities & I've never heard of a local shelter offering adoption. Any information you can provide on learning or locating local shelters would be greatly appreciated. Very sad it takes a news video to make people aware. Thanks
(Interested as my son is graduating & wants to be a K9 Border Patrol Officer)
My WD was killed in Iraq during Desert Storm. How do I go about adopting one of these great dogs? I have a beautiful GS that needs a friend. My GS name is Halo.

That 1 Dislike was from a cat
In in Alabama! I’d love to have a military dog! My fully trained red wolf would love to have another retired working dog! I had one my marine brother found me a retired bomb dog and he was a super dog that lived his retired life on 2acres of natural springs and shade trees! We would walk to a park daily and everyone we met asked how they could adopt a retired bomb dog!!

@dino2dogs1 I am sorry about your lost... they come makes us happy for a while and then leave... leaving us a big empty space... :)
When they retire, where are they being sent?
Amen God Bless The Military Dogs Trainers And The Dog Handlers Have A Blessed New Year And Praying For Everyone In Jesus Name Amen
No application on the web site. Takes numerous phone calls to get the application emailed because no one answers the phone. Then the current guy in charge of adoptions gets snippy!
There is also a need for FOSTER HOMES for the pets of our Military personnel who are being deployed and who have no one to take care of their animals!
Search for MILITARY PETS FOSTER PROJECT if you can help!
Can military dogs be "retired" and taken care of at a vet home? with the funding through the VA?
I doubt that.
Where do I find one... I will adopt

I have a question, can the dog return home with the solider they were deported with?
wonder if they come with a health care benefit package
@granyk7: Thank you so much! :>)
The USA , the Army, and the contractor the Army uses all took turns ass-raping the dog and handlers of the last two wars. Politicians pass bullshit laws allegedly guaranteeing a veteran military dog handler the right to adopt his dog, but when push comes to shove, civilians are taking the dogs they want- and lying to veterans, and in the rare cases where a persistent or lucky veteran locates his dog and it's new owner, the people routinely lie and simply refuse to surrender ownership of the dog to the veteran who served with that dog. These are Americans, from the heartland around Ft Bragg and Ft Benning. These are the people who put pro- veteran bumper stickers on their automobiles but in truth are not willing to lift a toeto do right by military veterans and veteran military working dogs.
@dino2dogs1: I'm sorry you lost your friend so soon....but he'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge!
Dead Link? Anyone have an updated website?
We left them tied to their kennels when we left Veitnam
