Was and always will be. Once a Marine, always a Marine. Thank you for raising your son to love his country. And I thank your son for serving his country. Semper Fi
I hope you’ve became more aware of dogs since this comment . The dog was a trained killer and protector . A dog looking around for danger and alertness at that age is certainly not stressed
Nothing against them, I find bagpipes annoying. Too loud, too high pitched. Add 46,000 people, the guy on the loud speaker, yeah that's a lot of noise, and tones to take in....especially if you're a dog. Then you could see, he was still working, even for a retired guy.
It’s kinda sad but it’s only natural. Respectively, he was a working dog through and through, and served well. I’m glad their story brought awareness for our furry heroes. I hope he enjoyed his final moments with the human he endeared. And HOPEFULLY, he had a taste of a juicy steak before departing us.
I wish I would have a Rex, does not have to be a seargent or Marine just have that golden heart and unconditional love a German Shepherd can give Christina
Many may not notice but I noticed Rex attempting to put himself between Megan and anyone approaching at least until he’d checked them out No longer in service but still doing his job
You really can’t underestimate the things someone will do for their dog. A dog is their FAMILY. The bond of a dog and their owner is indescribable. It is such a deep love. I’m so happy she got to have her boy back!
My wife and I just watched the movie and she cried, I just had something in my eye. Makes us want to spend even more time with our Furever Friend. R.I.P. REX.
I had shepherds that looked just like Sgt. Rex for over 30 years. They are fantastic animals and very brave and loyal friends. I am so VERY happy that Rex had Megan in his corner. It would have been dishonorable for the Marines to put this noble dog down! My heart broke to find out that the US has abandoned and killed these animals in the past, rather than bringing them home. That is a shameful history on the part of our military. God bless ALL service dogs for their wonderful service to humans around the world. They truly are mans' best friends!
30 years? You know that's no longer dog. Because as a dog gets older it begins to behave like human. And the vet in the movie was interested in the dog dying.
I’m so happy that Megan was able to adopt Rex and love him until his passing. Such an inspiring life spent together. Rex knew he was loved and he returned that love unconditionally. 🇺🇸👍🏻 Megan and Rex, thank you for your service!!!!
Dogs are more loyal to doing right for our military than the politicians cutting pay and health care for the wounded... God Bless all dogs and horses serving their country.
Amazing story. The movie about Megan Leavey surprised me, as it was a very emotional experience. I don't know, there's something about- having this aggressive dog train to be a soldier his whole life, with difficulties along the way, saving lives along the way, and in the end he's able to settle down & play with squeaky toys all day in a quiet place with a soft bed. I'm glad Megan was able to find meaning in her life through the Marine Corps, it's a very inspirational message for everyone in America. It might even inspire some to join... Thank you for defending us, Megan & Rex. _Semper fidelis._
i slept over at my friends house and her brother, her dad, her mom, and me and her watched it and all of us cried many times during the movie, and i just loved it, rip Rex
RIP Rex. Greetings from another doghandler... Doing service as a doghandler is only for the bravest. Kudos to you, Megan. As a doghandler you are alone on point while the rest of the platoon takes cover - you can do no such thing as a doghandler since you need to cotrol and work with the dog with calm commands and voice rewards. Imagine doing this under fire... All alone on point... That's why doghandlers and their dogs have a special bond, very different from infantry fireteams were you are a bunch of guys watching eachothers backs. The bond between a doghandler and his/hers dog is greater than between other soldiers because you are all alone without backup searching for IED:s while the rest of the platoon takes cover.
Watched the movie tribute of Rex's story and it left me a blubbering emotional wreck. No doubt Rex saved many a life during his tours of duty and was well deserving of the accolades and tributes. Though he passed in 2012 he i'm sure will be immortalised and worshipped by all the comrades he served with and protected. GOOD BOY REX, GOOD BOY!!!!
I had never heard about this wonderful pair of heroes until about 2 hours ago when I watched the movie about them. I am over here bawling my eyes out. Thank you Megan and Rex for your service. Rex, all dogs go to heaven and Megan will come home to you when it's her time. 💜 💜
Thank You for your service Sgt Rex, may you Rest in Peace oh Mighty Warrior. Cpl Leavey you have done your country proud with your service and devotion. Thank You.
Amazing story and movie. Had me in tears. But the fact that she didn't give up and fought to be reunited with REX says wonders of the person she is. REX deserved that and much more. After So many years of service and they're not adoptable they will be put to sleep very unfair. Thank you both for your service.
Thank you Megan and Rex for your service. I am glad Rex got to spend his last days with you. You were truly blessed to have each other. God Bless you in and watch over you. Semper Fi
To my fellow veteran Megan... You and Rex are true heroes - thank you and Rex for your service, sacrifices, and all of the lives you saved. RIP Rex. Charlie, US Army 2nd Infantry Division, 1966-69
I remember watching this live at camp blue diamond in iraq what a time it was to be alive such a surreal time. I have a special place in my heart for all men and women who served in any wars.
I watched the movie and was deeply touched by the faithfulness of both Meagan and Rex with each other every dangerous step of the way . Having found out that Rex already passed away brought sadness to me. If only all dogs stay young forever.
Yay New York Yankees! Meagan, thank you so much for your service and your tenacity in getting Rex home! I've always said there ain't nothing like a German Shepherd Dog. But truth be told, the movie got it right: "All dogs go to heaven." Your saga with Rex will undoubtedly help other service members bring their canine partners home. You're a beacon of proof that dogs (non-humans) are people too. God bless you!
If this wasn't one of the most heartfelt stories ever than I don't know what is.... I never tear up watching movies 🎥 but I did with this one.... I own a German Shepherd his name is Shadow he's 3 years old....it was even that much more emotional for me... I have to respect Megan for her dedication to adopting Rex she really would not give up & he was so worth it.... after watching the movie I went into the living room & just hugged the shit out of my dog he must have thought I was crazy lolololololol....
Just finished watching the movie, i hardly ever cry during a movie but i have to say... i cried twice, once when megan and rex got separated and again when they were reconnected. Such an amazing story.
Thank you so so much, Megan for your 100% service!! And to you, Rex, you're a good boy! Yes you are! Thank for your outstanding service buddy! I love you so much! ❤ I hope I'll see you in heaven! God bless!
Thanks to both Megan and Rex for their Service, and huge respect to the Yankees! I help at a German Shepherd Rescue, so this choked me up, if anyone in the UK is inspired to want a Shepherd as a Companion, please consider a Rescue Dog.
I love it, Rex was still working when the pilots walked up. He checked each one of them out. I didn't know that he had passed. RIP Sergeant Rex and thank you for your service.
*_I've never been to Iraq Afghanistan or anywhere like that...but the bond betweem me and my dog that passed away.. related to the movie ...unfortunately my dog died this year and this had me crying for ages I'm gonna stop typing coz words can't describe anything I want to say ...but Thank You For Your Service_*
I praise and salute both Megan Leavey and her dog for their heroic, magnificent and loving action as a partner in time of war which is under pressure. I believe we must show this picture to the whole world so that people can understand and appreciate it as well as what goodness dog can bring to us as a people.
Congrats Cpl. Leavey and Sgt. Rex. What a badass pup. Hope he's living his life in style chasing squirrels and keeping his bloodline going... kind of sad to see the Delta bs campaign around a flight but good on them but that was just rough to hear the commercial in it.
Man i feel bad i jaut watched the movie and had to come here after seen this part in the movie amd see them in real life.. Thank you for your services both of you! 💯🙏
as a war veteran from Iraq northern Ireland Bosnia and Iraq 2 I watched the movie today and was honoured to see how corporal levey did what had to be done to save sgt rex it was sad to watch I must say and thank u for your service MIKE from scotland

MJThorpe87 I totally agree
I am so overjoyed that Megan didnt give up & finally got to adopt Rex. He loves her so much. Many happy tears. :'')
You can see Rex was very stressed there. He was such an amazing and loyal dog to his person. Absolutely amazing story.
I hope you’ve became more aware of dogs since this comment . The dog was a trained killer and protector . A dog looking around for danger and alertness at that age is certainly not stressed

I wish I would have a Rex, does not have to be a seargent or Marine just have that golden heart and unconditional love a German Shepherd can give

Not good... excellent. Few movies have the kind of heart that this movie has.
The kissing made me uncomfortable 😣
What the title of movie
@@shielaaposaga9057 it's called "Megan Leavey"
Many may not notice but I noticed Rex attempting to put himself between Megan and anyone approaching at least until he’d checked them out

I hope God made an exception for Rex and he is in Heaven!!!!
WHY DO OUR BELOVED 4 LEGGED COMPANIONS & FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE TO LEAVE BEFORE US ??? TRULY A BEAUTIFUL STORY & FAMILY
If you've ever been to the war dog memorial on Guam...you understand why a MARINE is NEVER separated from their dog!
is that the statue of a Doberman in the down position. I seen a picture but, didn't know the location.
"Once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine". SEMPER FI, Marines!
You really can’t underestimate the things someone will do for their dog. A dog is their FAMILY. The bond of a dog and their owner is indescribable. It is such a deep love. I’m so happy she got to have her boy back!

Mike Page fuck rex, he was just a stupid dog. He has no allegiance to the U.S.. if the Russians bought him he would have done the same for them

I’m curious as well

Im not trying to be an attention hoarder but, my dog was also named Rex and died in 2012.
He lived 1999-2012

TexasBulldog74, sadly Rex passed away in 2012.
Thats sad. Poor pup.... I love dogs in general, they are like 4 legged angles that are among us IMO.
The good news is that he was something like 13 years old so he lived a good long life for a dog.
Her and Rex's combat heroics are truly inspirational!
I remember watching this game & never knew they had such a concrete bond. Never thought it would be a movie either, rest in peace Sgt. Rex
