@pyjamacritic1171 It is Sonic 2 indeed! Some of the soundtrack is from that era of gaming (the opening song is the battle theme from the original Shin Megami Tensei game) but some of it is vaporwave.
Your discussion towards the end about the people in his life letting Job down is how I see theodicy/the problem of evil. When we ask why God allows these things to happen, the more important question IMO is: why do we?
I deeply enjoy Lawnmower Man, but I wasn’t expecting to come out of this thinking that, thematically, it's a more coherent and concise version of Ridley Scott's Prometheus duology! (My love for them be damned.)
do you really have to drown your narration with a comically loud background music? I fail to see the artistic merits of this, unless you're trying to emulate Tenet.
@@DouglasRobson00 Or you could rerelease this one with the music turned way down. The commentary is really good and I've always wanted a long form analysis of this film but it's hard to hear what you're trying to say.
Holy smokes that line about being smarter meaning people couldn't take advantage of him. The unmitigated gall is surprisingly good writing.
I remember really liking this from the days of VHS, I even owned the Director's Cut box set!
Time for a rewatch, I think....
I'd say it's a rewatch well worth your time - enjoy!
Having watched this and its sequel for the first time this month I am so here for this analysis!
Wow, thank you! Yeah, I actually got around to them fairly recently as well and I'd say I certainly enjoyed them quite a bit!
I identified Aquatic Ruin Zone from Sonic 2 near the start. I'm assuming the soundtrack is all Genesis games but there are some I didn't recognise.

The Thirteenth Floor is netter than Virtuosity
Let's not say things we can't take back
Undiscovered treasure of youtube
Wow, thank you!

Yes, I absolutely agree - and I feel like The Lawnmower Man does do a good job at exploring this idea in particular.
@@DouglasRobson00 Definitely need to re-watch that movie. But I was surprised you didn't mention (unless I just missed it) Flowers for Algernon...
Gem
Thank you so much!

Thank you! And yeah, the Prometheus duology remains fantastic, absolutely!
I want to watch your videos but the insane background music makes me turn it off.
I stayed because of it, a bit too loud sometimes.....
The movie transcendence seems to have borrowed the themes of this movie.
It's so weird I remember this movie lol but I remember nothing of it lol

I'll admit, it's something I've struggled with in making videos recently - but thank you for pointing it out, I'll make sure to work on it in future!

@@DouglasRobson00 I had zero issues listening to this on my phone. People must be easily distracted.
The start music is terrible >.< And i actually know the second number :P streets of rage >.< but its super distractive!
