Back when this movie came out, virtual reality was the new heralded, technology that was set to take over. I heard some lofty claims that it would end human suffering as it held unlimited potentials. Well, 3 decades later, it certainly didn't live up to the hype but the movie is worth another watch.
It was a short story, not a book, and SK was either drunk or coked up when he wrote it, it made no sense at all. This film is much better, and the VHS version is better than this. Too many deleted scenes.

One of the best movies about virtual reality to come out in the early 1990s. This movie paged the way for every Cyberspace movie and TV show thereafter..... Exceptional story-line and overall cast of actors! This was the earliest attempt at creating a movie based on both cyberspace and virtual reality and the possible outcome if people went too far in trying to meld AI and cyberspace with human intelligence and the human brain....

Yeah, the livestreams are a lot of fun. I missed it live last night. I'm in Virginia, USA and it was probably either midnight or 1am EST when the show started. I really needed the sleep.
