That’s dancing! Style, grace, beauty, EVERYTHING! They proved there’s no need for vulgarity and obscene moves to show you have talent. Beautiful era👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely spot on. There will never be another grand incredible legend & dream goddess like Rita Hayworth. So much elegance, grace, physical beauty, character, intelligence, confidence, effortless talent & screen presence. No dance is too difficult for magnificent Rita. If breakdance had been introduced in the 1940s, she would have aced it too!!! Truly a goddess sent from heaven thats why she makes other beautiful actresses & women look one-dimensional & wooden.
I think Fred Astaire was a fantastic dancer, the best ever and Rita blended in so nicely with his dancing. They did complement one another. Just so amazing to watch. Thank you very much.
Her thing was unique: her way of moving her arms, shrugging her shoulders, jumping her steps, she was insolently beautiful, and totally original. She could damne the pawn to the best dancer on earth. No academic at all.
Fred admitted once that Rita was his favorite partner. Checking this out, I can see why. Elegant, impossibly beautiful, and in perfect sync with Fred. The chemistry!
I also love that dress. I have this movie on my laptop and I was watching this scene just the other day. I love the way the dress moves. Rita doesn't have an autobiography, but Ginger does. She explains how it's essential for her that the dresses she wears for performances like this are gorgeous yet easy to move in. Look at this dress Miss Hayworth has on. It moves perfectly and it's gorgeous! You know, reading books and watching movies about this era really gives you an appreciation of it.
Una mujer inigualable. Llenaba la pantalla totalmente con su atractivo y magnetismo. Pocas veces se ha dado en una misma persona una conjunción de belleza, elegancia, modernidad y talento, como en la inolvidable Rita Hayworth.
You can't deny the magic that is Fred & Rita when they would perform together. Fred has blessed us with many awesome performances sharing the dance floor with his beautiful and talented co-stars but Rita Hayworth has to go down as the perfect partner for Fred and i do believe that he named her as his favorite partner to perform with. To this day i haven't seen any entertainers that were as majestic as Fred Astaire & Rita Hayworth when working together. wthte, i wanna thank you for this great video, i loved it. Keep up the great work
Hamlet telmaH It will be impossible to replicate and unthinkable to out do these two... class, style, beauty, acting all in one packet...amazing!!!! Today .... is it only about “Crass”....
You can sum up these two with just one word...CLASS. Fred wasn't exactly the most handsome man around like many stars back then but he had so much confidence in himself that he's just damn handsome. Fred and Rita ( and many more back then ) had something that many today lack while dancing...and that's passion and fun! Dancing is and should be fun! Fun with classy guys, though...hard to find sometimes. I love watching these musicals...something with class never gets old. Love it! :)
Rita was only 22 years old when she filmed this movie.... Yet she possessed extraordinary beauty, talent and elegance of a much more older woman.... Man, I definitely was born in the wrong era -;(
She was a singular goddess imbued with complete effortless talent & incomparable mesmerising charm & beauty sent from heaven who makes other beautiful women look ordinary, one dimensional & lacklustre. When I first saw Hedy Lamarr, I was bowled over by her beauty. But after having seen Rita & her inimitable & unforgettable grace, elegance, natural expressions & effortless talent, Hedy became just another beauty.
Sorry to hear that, Dave. Never mind, it's all here. She was classed in her time as one of the world's most beautiful women. He was asked which of them he considered the best. (A stupid question if there ever was)...He answered in some tactful way about a broomstick or something. I thought Ginger but when you see this, my pick would be Rita, for her grace and beauty.
@@khl8892 The difference was Rita was warm and animated and alive. Hedy was beautiful but icy. I suspect that was the difference between two stunningly glorious looking women.

Only one month after his favorite dance partner Rita Hayworth died of Alzheimer’s disease, Fred Astaire died of pneumonia on June 22, 1987 in Los Angeles. -From Biography.
@@johnmurphy1271 John Murphy, you're wrong. Fred Astaire did say that. Fred's long time choreographer Hermes Pan also confirmed that. It's also confirmed in the Rita Hayworth biography written by Barbara Leaming. As far as her singing, she was a great singer too. It was Columbia executive Harry Cohn who decided to use other singers in an attempt to diminish her value and keep her in his stable. His off screen battles with her are well known. Yes, she was dubbed in several films, but also sang in several. The guitar scene in Gilda being one of those confirmed examples of her singing in her own voice, confirmed by Harry Cohn, her ex-husband Orson Welles and also confirmed in her biography "If This Was Happiness" written by Barbara Leaming. Orson Welles is also on record in a Dick Cavette interview confirming the fact she sang in several of her movies. @Angel CityGirl You are correct. John Murphy is wrong! Fred Astaire did admit that Rita was his favorite partner. It was also confirmed by his long time choreographer Hermes Pan and by Barbera Leaming, in the book "If This Was Happiness: A Biography of Rita Hayworth"
Be', erano il frutto di tante cose;innanzitutto di tantissime prove, sino allo sfinimento, per ottenere questa perfezione in cui sembrano fluttuare l'uno nelle braccia dell'altro..
When I think of beautiful sweet Rita and how her life tragically ended, I feel very sad. Thank goodness she had her daughter to care for her in her final years.
Rita and Fred passed within a month of so of each other. I want to think that when Fred walked up to the Pearly Gates of Heaven, Rita was standing there in that beautiful black dress with that eyebrow of hers cocked, and that smile that made the sun green with envy; and she took his hand and said "Will you dance with me, Fred?" And he did.

Of all of great Fred's great dance partners, Rita Hayworth is my favorite. They are so perfect together onscreen, acting , as well as dancing. They brought out something special in each other. Thanks so much for posting this.
An superb example of film dancing,. Fred learned to dance with his sister, and Rita [nee Cansina] with her father, but here the romantic partnership rivals his chemistry with Ginger. Rita, particularly, seems not only unafraid of holding her own with the master's most demanding steps but triumphant in her own beauty and considerable skill. Rita's tragic life and descent into alcoholism and senility is well know, but here on film if not in life, she is the most radiant and enchanting young woman, full of the joy of life. A star in all her glory. Fred had many partners in the years to come, but none so happy to be dancing. She simply beams with the pleasure of doing it. For many, she was the best of all his partners. For once in Fred's career, we watch her more than we watch him. No mean accomplishment!
+N B Schwartz Well said. I always noticed that Rita came most alive on camera when she danced- whether it was with Astaire, Kelly, the gypsies in Loves of Carmen, the boys on the runway in Cover Girl, etc. She famously said that the musicals with the first two mentioned partners were her favorite films- the ones she could watch without "laughing hysterically." It makes one sad she wasn't in more musicals- she was a smoldering presence. (Can you imagine Pal Joey with her and Gene Kelly- the original plan around 1944?) And this film is a great time capsule: she is transitioning to Rita Hayworth, but still in the 'Rita Cansino' roots; the hair is lighter, but neither black nor fully auburn. And "Gilda" is still 4 years away. Great film!!
Actually, the onset of Alzheimer's was mistaken for alcoholism. She'd have only a drink or two & it loosened her precarious grip on control. Then onlookers concluded that she was drunk. Not so. 😢
Thankfully there are the exsistance of films recording songs, music, dance routines, dialogs, and costumes. All are welcomed to watch time and again . Rita is lovely, and Fred always seemed to float along the crisp looking floors. Lovely!

By far, this is the BEST performance by Astaire, ever. The synchronicity with the music is just perfect. Hayworth is at her best too -she's sexy and yet aloof and elegant (i.e. not just sexy and overexploited in that regard, like was the case in all her subsequent films). As for Astaire, I think that in this piece he reached the zenith of his career -i.e. all the experience of the 30's with Rogers brought to a new height and, at the same time, no need to resort to visual effects like in subsequent films. Porter's music does the rest. A masterpiece.
Perfection and originality is the product of endless preparation and practice. Astaire was working professionally to pay the bills at age five. Rita Hayworth started dancing lessons with her uncle when she was 3 1/2 "as soon as I could stand on my own two feet" and was working for a living dancing in her family's stage act by age 8. Astaire and Hayworth were professionals to the core and it "looks so easy" shows. Privately, these Hollywood icons were unassuming and modest.

Beautiful woman and great actress.. And she could dance. I mean dance that would put Michale Jackson and all those wanabe to shame. She had class. LIke all beautiful women from Spain :) I also found out today that actors Humprey Bogart and Joan Bennett had Spanish background too. I cant wait to visit Spain in two weeks.
Seen this delightful part of the movie for the first time has triggered in me such beatiful feelings. The choreography is so perfect and sinchronized, their movements are seamless, as if some magician were moving his magic wand, describing their paths in a symphony continuoum of love.
I'm totally enchanted by the dance, the dress, the mood, the singing, everything about it. The way that Rita sway just so graceful and I suddenly have an urge to dance too. Fred is a master!
Rita was a trained dancer and really never flet comfortable with the "Love Goddess" label. In the 2 films she made with Fred and of course "Cover Girl" she will pretty much be always remembered for "Gilda". Her beauty was simply stunning and apparently she was a down to earth lovely woman. Not like todays trash!

aw i love this so much...fred singing to rita and rita sitting there like an angel..then their dancing, and what i love most is rita moving her hips the way she does, i'm dying everytime i see that :D i love her so much :).
Fred, what a class act!!! Love it!!
Cuanta belleza , hace suspirar , ella una diosa , el el no va más de la elegancia. Juntos una ensoñación irrepetibles......
Aren't we all mesmerized?? Oh to go back in time!!
Seen this delightful part of the movie for the first time has triggered in me such beatiful feelings. The choreography is so perfect and sinchronized, their movements are seamless, as if some magician were moving his magic wand, describing their paths in a symphony continuoum of love.
fred astaire always said rita hayworth was his favorite dance partner. you can tell by watching this piece of art.
My nothing gets better than this!
Rita una de las mujeres ,mas bellas de todos los tiempos
I'm totally enchanted by the dance, the dress, the mood, the singing, everything about it. The way that Rita sway just so graceful and I suddenly have an urge to dance too. Fred is a master!
We don't get to see such classy stuff anymore, thank you
Geniales, soberbios bailarines los dos. Se deslizan... eso sólo lo logran los grandes bailarines. Una joya para deleitarse!
Rita was a great Spanish dancer, like her parents, and she shows her stuff here.
She was half Spanish, her mother was American-Irish.
@@TN1061 true but she danced professionally with and coached by her Spanish father
Her real name was Margarita Carmen Cansino daughter of a Spaniard from Seville and she started dancing flamenco.
Eskinin samimiyeti ve kalitesi nurlar içinde yatsın rita hayworth...
Papai pernilongo...🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰👍
Such grace... I love them... Rita is a Lady!
