🎬Fred and Ginger Rogers performed "Smoke in Your Eyes" perfectly in the 1935 music movie Roberta. This is the music composed by American composer Jerome Kern and the composer Otto Harbach for the 1933 Broadway musical "Roberta". Fred and Ginger only tuned in the 1935 film adaptation. The most famous singing version of the song was recorded by "The Platters" in 1958, and the song ranked first on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

Athleticism and grace! I reran that bit several times to see if Fred was holding her hand. He might have given her a start but Ginger landed that leap flat all by herself!

One take except for the jump up the stairs where you can see that the camera angle changed and the dance has to be stopped to accomplish this. It also allowed them to get that jump just right.

Fred always said that he couldn't sing. Ha! What?! I have always adored his singing and Gingers....they were just wonderful together.

My grandfather wrote songs in the 20’s and 30’s -some are american classics -and he said they liked writing for Astaire because of his diction- you could hear every word clearly.

@@starababa1985 Some years ago, I had a small antiques business. One of the things I liked to sell was old costume jewelry. I remember selling several of those old dress clips.
And she has that tiny waist to do the gown full justice!

It is not how perfect this one dance,or that one.The chemistry between them is clearly visible.Mr. Astaire is really amazing and no one compares to him.And Ms.Rogers had feeling and grace and they looked so amazing together.This chemistry to him had no other film partner in a similar way.I love them.And it doesn't matter how bad or sad I'm feeling or how terrible my day was,when I see them dancing I feel immediately better
There have been great dancers that had more raw athleticism, ok... Nicolas brothers, Gene Kelly for example.

Exquisite dancing. Who could ever forget the ten movies they made together? Yet the average amount of dance time in the movies is just eleven minutes. Months of practice went into choreographing and rehearsing by Fred and Hermès Pan, who said he was Ginger when he danced with Fred and Fred when he danced with Ginger. Will we ever see the likes of this perfection again?

Ginger in her 6 inch heels just being so smooth. Just amazing. I watch so many of these choreographed routines and it's still quite remarkable to see how easy she makes it look.
