Season 3 was already better
This episode always gets me in the feels I can’t handle it when Daryl cries Merle was a product of an abusive home just as Daryl was Exposure to Daryl’s new family short though it was changed his heart and his redemption was true I sure am gonna miss Merle he went out a hero wish he lasted longer he truly redeemed himself RIP Merle.
I ain’t gonna beg I ain’t begging you were not only Merle’s last words but he also said that back in Season 1 when he was all alone on the rooftop in Atlanta He isn’t talking to the Governor in his last moments He’s talking to the same person he was talking to back on the rooftop God He sees all of this (being handcuffed to the roof being killed by the Governor) as punishment for the things he’s done but he has never once begged for God’s forgiveness and he wouldn’t even do it in his final moments Very touching moments Merle Dixon was truly one of the most complex characters in TWD history He will be missed RIP

I loved this episode Merle trying to take out as many of the Governor’s men was very heroic I believe he did it because he really did love his brother and I wish Merle would have lasted longer.
It broke my heart to see Daryl cry He’s such a strong person on the outside but inside he has a big heart.
It creeped me out when Merl explained what The Governor would do to Michonne. How can anyone think there's good in him when even Merl is terrified of him.
RIP Merele! He went out trying to give Daryl and our group a chance by taking out as many as he could! He redeemed himself no doubt. Daryl crying is the saddest thing I've seen since Lori and her last words to Carl and Rick's reaction and Dale dying. We've lost too many and they all hurt so much!!

Okay so at one point AJ points out that Merle is confusing and then later someone else points out (I can’t recall who) that Merle is mentally unstable.
A lot of people actually confuse mental instability with emotional instability, which is completely understandable. I used to, too. Merle and Daryl grew up in an abusive, neglectful home. Daryl was just as explosive as Merle when he first met Rick, remember? This was the emotional instability. The difference between Daryl and Merle, is that upon meeting the group Daryl started doing that inner work and began healing his trauma. Merle did not. In fact he was avoidant, obviously with drugs and booze. Just like their dad was.
Merle knew this. Michonne knew this. Daryl knew this. But Merle was too far gone- not because he actually was too far gone- but because he decided he was. Setting Michonne free, trying to take out the Governor, and dying not only for Daryl but also for the group (even though he lies and says he doesn’t care) was him trying to make everything he did right. There was no was for him to be a part of a group who is the greater good, because he was never going to do the work to heal.
As the older son as well Merle would've taken the brunt of expectation off of their father to act more like him than Daryl. Daryl being the 2nd son probably meant for the most part their father ignored or forgot about him whether Merle was around or not. Merle not knowing that their father was beating Daryl to quite such an extent in 'Home' gives me the impression that Merle's presence actually protected Daryl from several beatings whether Merle took those beatings on purpose or not.
Daryl was made who he was at the beginning because he spent his entire life emulating his big brother and acting how Merle thought he should. So without Merle's influence he was able to start being who he actually was without fear of being ridiculed for being 'soft'.
Merle knew he would never be accepted. As hateful as he was, he loved Daryl and saw that Daryl had a family and a place he loved, so Merle gave him a chance, a chance he could never give him before.

Reaction bedsides, Prophet you're looking under the weather, just how I started out over a week ago thinking my daughter had given me the summer flu as she was sick first, turns out we both tested positive for Covid. If you're having flu symptoms, including a very painful throat and can hardly swallow, headache and fever
(especially before you wake sweating and wet pj's and bedsheets) and an annoying silly aggressive cough that just won't go away, you may have it, BUT I COULD BE WRONG. Put on a mask, you can even buy a flowflex test kit or a one step test for SARS-CoV-2 Antigen test kit for about £3.50 from a chemist or get it delivered by Deliveroo. Get a couple just in case so you test positive again in 7 days (you should be past the contagious stage) and test again so it should be negative by then. I could be 100% wrong as you may just be getting a cold, but just in case as another mutation of it is going around again and to avoid spreading it to the vulnerable, take the test, takes a couple of minutes to do it! Whether Covid or a cold, try the following: squeeze half a lemon into a mug including bits (not the seeds of course), peel and grater a thumb size bump of ginger, grater 1 clove of garlic into the mug and add about 3-4 teaspoons of honey, mix and pour hot boiling water onto it about 3/4 full and stir - drink away before you go to bed and repeat that every night, (you can also add a capful of Jamaican white rum Wray & Nephews to your first one) and I guarantee your throat and the nasty uncontrollable cough will thank you for it, that will ease down.

I always really liked this episode Glenn getting Hershel’s blessing to wife Maggie I like how he didn’t really give a speech to her and everything He just stuck the ring in her hand I wonder what it like to go ring shopping now Like what if it was a shitty ring Do you just go around looking for female walkers until you find the ring you desire or ?
Rick finally realizes that he can no longer It was fine when y’all we’re still learning how to survive but now y’all know how #TeamPrison should be a group effort when it comes to their survival.
You can tell Rick was feeling ashamed of his decision of giving up Michonne If Merle of all people thinks you cold asf for that then that’s when you should re-evaluate your life and decisions Him having to tell everyone what he’d done you could tell he felt the shame Everyone was shocked at what he did Carl looked great perhaps things can get better from here on out.
We definitely saw a different side to Merle We know he loved his brother That’s all he’d talked about since his return We find out just how abusive his father was and knowing he left home young so he wouldn’t kill him (sadly that abuse turned towards Daryl as a result) In and out of jail A man who knows his bible A product of his unfortunate environment In this episode his redemption that you realize that he truly has a heart From his conversation with Rick to his conversation with Michonne we see that he does want to be a good guy he just never been given the chance Now with his brother wanting to believe in him standing by the side of good he makes a decision the right decision and freed Michonne He then took on his redemption by taking on the suicide mission against the Governor R.I.P. He will surely be missed with His methhead problematic ass.
Shoutout to Michonne for how she handled Merle and her whole situation Wait shout out to them badass kills she made while tied up Okay back to Michonne and Merle She was hella calm the whole situation What’s so interesting is that she isn’t seen as much of a talker She only really talks when it’s important to Almost as if everything she has has some sort of purpose I think she could of found a way to get her sword back kill Merle and escaped back to the prison She’s crafty like that But she didn’t She stayed calm and used her words Got into his mind and reached out to the good in him and it worked some banter psychology some compassion Who would’ve thought that these two of all people would be able to have a genuine and civil conversation with each other if Merle had survived I think they could have actually ended up being friends.
Fun Fact: Daryl’s cry face ended up becoming a meme being compared to the infamous cry face from Dawson’s Creek lol.
Really looking forward to the finale so Is this truly the end of The Ricktatorship Will The Governor and Rick see eye to eye Stay Tuned.

Merle might have been an asshole and racist but he never was a villain , he was just a complex misunderstood grey character , he had good in him deep down and he clearly did love Daryl , im not sure if he’s in heaven or hell now but he definetely earned my respect for standing up to The Governor and giving Rick , Daryl and the group a fighting chance against him by killing as many as he could.
P.S. He definitely was way better than Shane.

Finally, a group of reactors who can actually see/interpret/respect Merles' growth as a whole after taking into consideration his childhood and how he had to live just to survive. I was watching a different group of reactors up till today, but literally got so annoyed and tired of how annoying, loud, and completely dumb they were when it came to any kind of thought provoking situations. Idk why , but even tho Merle was a racist asshole, I always felt sorry for him. I guess that's just the empath in me & always trying to see the good in people. He spent his childhood in juvie & getting abused & then went straight into the military, where they hardened him even more. He never had a family, except for Datyl & he loved his brother. I think he would have came around & changed had he got to stay with our group longer & found the "Home" & sense of belonging that he never had in his entire life. He was a broken soul & I was glad he got to redeem himself & give our group a chance & try to take out as many of the governors men as possible. He knew he was going on a suicide mission. But he did it all for the love of his brother 🥺😔

Merle was mentally unstable...of course. But I couldn't help but feel bad when he died, and the way Daryl looked... man, that scene is heartbreaking.
Merle is an interesting character I loved how in the end it turned out he wasn't just as one dimensional as we thought and that he had actually more to him. That's one big thing I like about this show, all the characters have more layers to them and are not your stereotypical one dimensional people. It would've been easy to just have Merle as the one- sided racist asshole guy and he kinda was all that but that was not all the character was. Makes the characters feel more real and reality based
