I love that this video came out in 2015 and I was listening to his music my senior year 2012 and I’m just watching this video in 2019. I’ve been obsessing over watching videos where artist break down their songs to the point that it’s just the first sound they had of the song:
My favorite song by Skrillex is " Breaking a Sweat," with 2 living members of The Door's. That is the best collaboration in Dubstep! He is a true musician and also plays guitar. He's an amazing Producer. So creative. I used to attend Rave's and I used to throw Rave's from the mid 90's-2003. We used to call it Techno back in the day. I'm 57 and I'm a huge Skrillex fan. I ❤ Dubstep!!
I met Sonny when I was helping set up for his rehearsal space. He actually approached me first, shook my hand and asked me how I was. Super nice, awesome dude.
people who love music in general understand this music style and learn to love it. I love all styles from Mozart ,Johnny Cash to Metalica and back to Skrillex and the Lacs. Loving music is easy but dont be closed minded ever about how our music makes us feel it is the ultimate power in all of us.
Lmao your clown you do know who sonny moore is right???? You do know his background. Like you know he was the lead of fucking emo band. Hahahaha lmk when DJ like diplo whom become before him n look at the 90s techno scene with Daft Punk get even close to sonny moore level. Dude a 10 yr can grab a laptop and make a okay and song. Can you say the same for a kid playing the piano.... No dude you cant. Mika zibanejab is 3rd leading goal scorer in the NHL and he is a DJ. N dont get me started on DJ diesel aka shaq. It take little to no skill to be a dj.
+just a lover it's possible....let's not question them.... the next day a angry mob shows up at my house when I wake up. "who are you?" "were what you called them!" "ah okay." "were here to punish you!" drags me out of bed. "how 'gonna do that." "by playing dubstep we made" drops the bass. "yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh" "ah so it's good right" "nooo awful!''
Respect to the interviewer. She grew from an earlier era and showed no disdain in her questioning. She presented a smile and emanated curiosity in the way she asked her questions. She displayed no judgement, but asked the questions that were relevant to the ones who were curious of the culture Sonny represented. I personally enjoyed seeing the joy she felt in the studio working hand in hand with Sonny.
I used to be a person who used to say they pushed buttons, until I started pushing buttons myself. Skrillex is one of my biggest motivation and inspiration, I also started in metal/rock.
the same way making electronic music requires talent or any kind of music for that matter, isn't ironic that when renaissance music came around people simply referred to it as random noises that make no sense but today it's one of the most appreciated genres
lasse skarpengland: lol and you think producing music on a computer doesn't? Do you understand how complex sound design is and how hard it is to fit an entire frequency spectrum into a box and have everything sound perfect?
Cody Williams: With guitars you have to learn intonation, this is the key to making the string play and sound exactly how you want it, then you can do advanced techniques such as palm muting, bending strings and tapping. You will need to gradually increase the flexibility in your fingers to be able to play certain chords, or progressions, and your attributes such as dexterity, precision, flexibility and length of your fingers will limit what you can and can't play. Piano's don't need to worry about intonation, instead they have to worry about being able to play many notes at the same time, because it is a polyphonic instrument. 10 Fingers equals the ability to play 10 notes at any one time in basically an unlimited set of combinations (limited by the range of your fingers of course). On top of that, they also need to be able to play two completely different melodies with each hand. Speed, precision and timing will effect what you can and can't play. Creating music on PC's , you have time to adjust each note, each chord progression to make it sound exactly how you want it too. It is time consuming, requires tons of knowledge, requires someone that has talent in writing music, but it does not take multiple years to be able to play basic stuff, and does not require physical talent the way instruments do. There is no physical limitation that will prevent someone on PC making music (baring being handicapped in some way). Physical talent is the difference. Most people in this world will not have the physical attributes/talent to play instruments on the same level as the best. On a PC everyone physically has equal opportunity. it is all about your knowledge, creativity and the time you dedicate to it.
literally what every parent/old person does to someone younger than them. its like engrained in their dna to automatically snoop through a phone if it goes off mid conversation lol
Skrillex has been mainstream since 2010 when he released songs like scary monsters and nice sprites and then his bangarang ep a year later. But there’s two mainstreams, young and old. Young mainstream already knew skrillex and was big there, but the old mainstream is always late to new talent and will always be.
Like next year they will be learning the launch pad in school the music teacher will be like "ok class take out the clasical piece from skrillex and get started remember to make a remix for homework"
He's so right, I have so much respect for the fact that he will do whatever he loves regardless of what others think. How else do you create something so original?
Diplo, I completely understand how you feel, I lost my Mom in 2013, and she was the glue, took care of us, her family, food clothes, comfortable home, and when you spoke about your mom, I felt, like you read what was in my heart about my mother. God Bless you, Continued success ❤💎
Joice Castro no es ser adivino, es que la foto de skrillex y poner de comentario "escrolegs hez amor, escrolegs hez bida" no me hacen pensar en otra cosa que en que eres posser a cagar
It's actually a lot more like "sitting in a darkish room in front of your gear, making some nice bangin tunes no one except for a few lucky ones will probably ever listen to." Yeah i know that well! ;D
No of course not.....But in a minute I could listen to whether someone truly has a sense of melodic composition. Sounds, beats and loops is a lot of the market. But he has an understanding writing songs more traditionally. Much like say Calvin Harris. Its a hybrid skill of having good ears, good skills and an ability to simply create and to hear his music. "How it should resolve...where it should go....and perhaps what the actual "musical choices are". Going from F to Bb? Transposing to fit another song idea that was in C major and can easily fit it. Sort of a hybrid thing when its done at an elite level would be my opinion.
when it comes down to it, it is pressing buttons if you use certain types of software, and they have come out with hit songs. There aren't many things you can do to interact with computers other than a mouse. But it's not the interaction, it's the style that adds to it. Every artist has their own style, when you find out how to perfect it, you can make amazing songs, I've been trying to perfect my software for a while. It's difficult. But really, it's not much more than clicking and pressing buttons.
"Are you hungry?" I fuckin lost it all at the end. :D Anyway, that was the greatest, the most powerful and honest interview I've ever seen. Also I really like the tune they made.
On the real, Skrillex got me into making music. Started out with simple rap beats, now I'm trynna recreate 2010 circa dubstep. Anything I'm feeling. Thanks Sonny :)

He seems super down to earth
Paolo Gianzanti yes very true
I love that this video came out in 2015 and I was listening to his music my senior year 2012 and I’m just watching this video in 2019. I’ve been obsessing over watching videos where artist break down their songs to the point that it’s just the first sound they had of the song:
"Your body's actually pretty amazing...and uhm."
"Thank you."
"Uh yeah, your body's amazing."
sexual tension right there
SLOTHTASTIC GAMING Do you think Skrillex is into grown ladies?
Why not 8)
ProjectZero SEE SKRILLEX AND THAT INTERVIEW GIRL ARE CRUSHING ON EACH OTHER!!!
when did he or she say that?
I respect Skrillex so much more after this. He's a really nice guy
I love this guy since I'm like 12 years old. Still love him now at 23 years old, he's so down to earth and an amazing guy
Skrillex, you made me who i am today. Your music has inspired me to go out there. Probably saved my life a few times.
Thank you so much skrillex
So much sexual tension between these two or am I just misreading this lol
DUDE RIGHT... from the get go too!!!
COURIC SMASH
blerrr dioboia :/
i almost through up in my mouth when i read this... wtf. skrillex don’t want that old bat
Skrillex is just nice
so now we know marshmallows real name... chris..
Chris... Chris Comstock
AKA DJ Dotcom
yessss
Tropical House aka dotcom
Marshmallows ?
My favorite song by Skrillex is " Breaking a Sweat," with 2 living members of The Door's. That is the best collaboration in Dubstep! He is a true musician and also plays guitar. He's an amazing Producer. So creative. I used to attend Rave's and I used to throw Rave's from the mid 90's-2003. We used to call it Techno back in the day. I'm 57 and I'm a huge Skrillex fan. I ❤ Dubstep!!
12:34 when you try and be hip with the youngsters
Lol ur finny
yeah i was embarrassed for her. ha
Yea ik that was pretty cringe ngl
(ik I'm late lmao)
LOL
@@Angel-pw7el yeah lol
I met Sonny when I was helping set up for his rehearsal space. He actually approached me first, shook my hand and asked me how I was. Super nice, awesome dude.
Skrillex inspired me to make music differently. transition from just being a guitarist to really get down to producing tracks. Love for him.
Go for it!
same as hell
Same
people who love music in general understand this music style and learn to love it. I love all styles from Mozart ,Johnny Cash to Metalica and back to Skrillex and the Lacs. Loving music is easy but dont be closed minded ever about how our music makes us feel it is the ultimate power in all of us.
People make fun of DJs for just "pushing buttons."
In that case, What are pianists?
People who play keys
In that case what are drummers.... people who hit plastic metal and wood
@@thebloodypainter4803 this is the message bro!! Theh also make sounds from these things. So do DJs
TRUE
I love his haircut ...talented guy !!! love u SKRILLEX!!!
Same!
:21 Skrillex plays the intro to Rugrats
Lady : "I think we've got a real hit in our hands"
LMAO
FPKBlast what is the name of the song....
Skrillex is such a inspiration source
yes, because he became orphan early, he suffered bullying several times but continued doing what was best for him
500 years from now he will be considered classical music. now class we talk about the master of the macbook skrillex
true but is it possible 4 girls 2 make music like that? just curious
+just a lover it's possible....let's not question them....
the next day a angry mob shows up at my house when I wake up. "who are you?"
"were what you called them!"
"ah okay."
"were here to punish you!"
drags me out of bed.
"how 'gonna do that."
"by playing dubstep we made"
drops the bass.
"yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh"
"ah so it's good right"
"nooo awful!''
+WilleFager And you are a source to say what gives me joy!
Respect to the interviewer. She grew from an earlier era and showed no disdain in her questioning. She presented a smile and emanated curiosity in the way she asked her questions. She displayed no judgement, but asked the questions that were relevant to the ones who were curious of the culture Sonny represented. I personally enjoyed seeing the joy she felt in the studio working hand in hand with Sonny.
lol Yahoo thinks Skrillex only got mainstream this year.
with the biebs
maaaan :D
+Aozotra SONG NAME AT THE FIRST PART?????
+Aozotra you don't know what your talking about
+Nathan Groce wow. that's such a thorough argument.
I used to be a person who used to say they pushed buttons, until I started pushing buttons myself. Skrillex is one of my biggest motivation and inspiration, I also started in metal/rock.
been following you since those early fftl days sonny.. i support everything you do man.
I love how he says “my dad” or “my mother” or “sister” like he doesn’t feel adopted he IS A PART of his family
playing a piano is also just pressing buttons
But requires talent
Papa JorJ Playing guitar is just cheese slicing your fingers
the same way making electronic music requires talent or any kind of music for that matter, isn't ironic that when renaissance music came around people simply referred to it as random noises that make no sense but today it's one of the most appreciated genres
lasse skarpengland: lol and you think producing music on a computer doesn't?
On a PC everyone physically has equal opportunity. it is all about your knowledge, creativity and the time you dedicate to it.
that kinda was rude of her to pick up his phone and check a text or something.
I was saying the same
Yup that’s what I was thinking
creepy old lady
literally what every parent/old person does to someone younger than them. its like engrained in their dna to automatically snoop through a phone if it goes off mid conversation lol
Imagine if it was like a dick pic
Amazes me how this reporter manages to be flirty one moment and rude and insensitive the next.
Skrillex has been mainstream since 2010 when he released songs like scary monsters and nice sprites and then his bangarang ep a year later. But there’s two mainstreams, young and old. Young mainstream already knew skrillex and was big there, but the old mainstream is always late to new talent and will always be.
5:25 omg baby Sonny is beyond adorable!!! ♡
this interviewer is really chill I like her ^-^
Dude it's Katie Couric.
I am an adorable baby..
I guess the new Album of Skrillex brought us here.
What a legend this guy!
Much love from Germany
Skrillex is the kind of person everyone needs as a friend and family. and omg we the voice and possible name of marshmello! :D
14:31 we are 5 years in and he still is making music, i’m so happy that he didn’t give up!
7 years later, and he released two albums in the same week :)
@@ramizian Can't be happier, really!
Like next year they will be learning the launch pad in school the music teacher will be like "ok class take out the clasical piece from skrillex and get started remember to make a remix for homework"
Prylord gaming never gonna happen.. edm is trashy noise not music
Rory mchugh
skrillex is not a psychologist lol
+Belze Buddha neither are you
Belze buddha if its trash then why are u watching this vid dumb ass
+Belze Buddha You don't even know whats the diference between a sound and a noise...
I have always loved every project he's ever pursued. FFTL. Sonny. Skrillex. Everything.
He's so right, I have so much respect for the fact that he will do whatever he loves regardless of what others think. How else do you create something so original?
Here after skrillex's new album launch. Legend fr.
skrillex seems like the nicest and coolest guy on earth.
That's why I still like Skrillex: His music is evolving. And he makes epic tracks out of everything. Even with "maple syrup marshmallow"-lyrics xD
I've been a fan of skrillex ever since scary monsters and nice spirits
So since most people were?
+James N True
I have beed since he was a vocal of from first to last
Scary monsters and nice sprites**

Diplo, I completely understand how you feel, I lost my Mom in 2013, and she was the glue, took care of us, her family, food clothes, comfortable home, and when you spoke about your mom, I felt, like you read what was in my heart about my mother. God Bless you, Continued success ❤💎
Parents just don't understand..
-sonny
I agree!!!
Me too
Right!
Yep
I honestly have a major crush on skrillex and I am proud of it! He is adorable!😍😍😍
True
He was so cute when he didn't have a beard and had his beautiful black long locks flowing down
oh god his voice relaxes my ears
This woman is actually pretty good interviewer. The questions are really interesting and not designed to put her guest in a bad position. I like her.
12:29 yahoo made history by revealed marshmello identity

Yup
Joice Castro and you are a posser
McWaffle ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) me conoces acaso?
people who think making edm is just *press button* "hit song". you are so so so wrong.
Its by far the hardest genre to make songs for. But there will always be ignorant old nostalgic people who have no idea about what they talk about.
its really hard, I've tried it, but I keep it to singing :-)
Remember watching this interview back in 2015 when it dropped, such an inspiration for my music career even till this day
I like ur playlist bro I've used a few of those bests recently lol 👍
You can talk as much smack about Skrillex's music as you want but his work ethic and charisma are unbeatable.
Yeahh Skrillex :D
skrillex es mi pastor!!!!
Gabriel Luján You mean Sonny?
TheConsee yess Men ;)
Big Sonny /o/
Gabriel Luján skrillex is the best man
"Are you hungry?" I fuckin lost it all at the end.

"Your body is amazing."
"Thank you."
This is deep. I never knew what he went through. I love his work so much and now im buying tickets to go to his concert if i can save enough money. I would die to meet him. #Skrillex4life
How was the concert?
This man has made his way, and in fact it is a perfect way. You can see he loves to make music everytime and anywhere he could. I appreciate him for being such an amazing person. And RIP to Sonny's mom.✝️
