It's really heartening to see The Doors members go from being super skeptical on working with Skrillex to being totally into it once the song comes together. They had a lot more in common than they thought. Great music transcends generations!
Jesus is lord. Repent of your sins, be born again, and turn to him to be saved from Hell! Turn away from all your sins before its too late. I love you and God loves you🙏🏼❤️
I love how they listen to his creation, then pretty much have the melody in their heads already, they just have to start ironing it out. What an incredible experience for Skrillex to have been able to work with his idols. Incredible track, made a little eerie by the fact that Morrison predicted the style of Skrillex's music 40 years earlier.
It's amazing how Sonny gets along with these old time musicians and how they end up jamming together and enjoying it, though the genres are so different. EPIC! Great video, great song!
i never really listened/liked their (doors) music, but i still have infinate respect towards them. may he rest in peace. youre lucky skrillex that you got to work with him :)
I used to be into skrillex when I was younger (the usual dubstep phase) but I grew more interest into indie and then now 60s rock as I’m 17 and the doors really are amazing and I just l started listening a month ago. Each member from the doors have so much talent and skill and contribution to today’s music and pushing the boundaries in rock with organ(ray manzerek) the ghostly poem vocals (Jim Morrison) blues guitar(Robby Krieger) and amazing drummer (John desmore). One last thing I’d like to share. The organist Ray plays two keyboards which plays bass piano and organ at once, like having 2 brains. It’s truly astonishing seeing these two artists come together to make this masterpiece. Just wanted to share about the doors and maybe you can look into them sometime :)
i hate rigid people. i couldn't live a day like that! i appreciate everything. i hate how people say that things outside of their comfort zone have no value and dismiss them and act like they can't learn anything from it. it's really my biggest pet peeve with humanity.
oh my god, finaly theres someone on youtube that can respect the fact that people have differant music tastes and's not just bitching about that everyone els is wrong and they are the ceneter of the universe
Music is something to be created and enjoyed by whoever likes it. There is no such thing as "real" music or "real" musicians as long as the music evokes an emotional response from those listening to it. Some want to get "amped"(dub, metal), some "chill"(jazz), some just like the lyrics to a song because they can relate to them. Skrillex(Sonny) did what every musician does; imagine sounds and make them reality with whatever talent and equipment you have at hand. Then hope someone likes it.
They know the music is not to what they're usually surrounded by or better yet interested in. You guys need to think that when you're in the music industry for that long, these guys know that from the beginning when they became 'The Doors' that music will eventually evolve slowly but surely. You think the music that they were playing wasn't different from what people were listening to when they were just kids? Of course not, but they came in, and became a power house of what we call classic rock today. I can't disagree with you that when they listened to what Skrillex has created before, they were seemingly baffled and startled by it. Though, they know anything can be music and just a simple scratch of anything can be created into something. I for one love that 'The Doors' came in and provided their knowledge and intuition of the matter to collaborate different genres of music from different backgrounds, eras, and familiarity into something that works.
his main DAW (digital audio workshop) is ableton, he uses the plugins FM8 (For Growls), Massive (For growls), Sylenth, Melodyne, Gladiator, Kontakt, and a few others that i dont remember
Thank you for putting your opinion across in an unbiased and respectful way. I'd never really listened to The Doors before I heard this collaboration but this song definitely pushed me onto them. I guess in a way it's a kind of beautiful justice.
I'm not crazy about Skrillex but this guy was arguably the last guy to succeed in bringing the Doors back together for the last time, so for that, respect.
I'm a producer. Skrillex motivated me to move into the house/dubstep production. I am not part of the mainstream 'movement' with Skrillex, I just listen to his stuff every once in awhile. That does not make me a gay emo. It's not right to judge others based on some music.
I would love to hear a longer version that used *everything*, including the stuff skrillex played at the start that's different from the released song, and the full guitar/keyboard parts that don't show up in the song either. I'd be tempted to try to make it myself cutting up this video but the audio quality isn't nearly good enough, and i'm pretty bad at fixing audio correctly.
Music is about having fun and enjoying what you´re doing. But someone always has to put Skrillex down or explain who started Dubstep and shit. The coolest thing is that these artists don´t even give a tiny shit about it.
lol bless his heart. Ray listening to what was already done and u could see on his face nu uh lol and then he said well lets go back to square 1. Robbie grooving to it. And John...idk what is up. They not get along? so sad. but overall product is awesome and i hope it opens younger peeps to go listen to the Doors
It was mainly underground in the USA for a long time because there was no Internet and the USA is so big. During the early 90's I was one of the few people involved with EDM. In those days it was impractical to discuss EDM with the average listener. Almost none of them would have known what I was talking about.
Music is all about creation! If you stay still you die... Morrison is a LEGEND but right now this is the new wave! I'm sure that Morrison would never agree with this move but i like that the old and the new styles are combined here!
it makes sense if you think about it, they're talking about the whole over-all-broadest genre of music thats gonna be the future, and you can't deny its both dub step and electronic music =]
Skrillex is a cool guy. I was not aware of his existence. I also did not know of this collaboration until I shared our new recreation to a big doors friend Jim Wall
"i think the future of music may be like... one man with machines doing everything" - jim morrison. i dont think he'd mind being a part of his prediction
Yes, that's right. I used to listen to dance mixes on an Orlando radio station over the weekend nights. That was the only time one could hear dance music. The rest of the week it was just top 40 tunes. Some of the older generations are stuck in the past with rock. They still have idea what EDM is.
I think it's beautiful when artists can create a unique cohesion between two entirely different genre's! The Doors = Legends. Skrillex = Phenom.... What a beautiful mistakenly odd concoction! LOVE LIFE!
magic! awesome! there's no words I could say! there are so many people that doesn't like skrillex's music but they have to admit that he reunites the elite of the music. sounds easy but... bah! they are THE DOORS! the gods of music!
this video bring back memories... Also the fact that Ray made that melody in seconds.... which no wonder it's my favorite song from skrillex! or should I see the doors and him? anyways a lot inspiration from this making off until today.
This is Epic story, respect for idea to show how it's made. I bow down in front of all of theese ppl. Respect ! I love Jazz, Blues, Dub - Step, Classic ... Jesus, I Love Music. !
This concept is what I am doing with CRYSTAL SHIP but not so much Skrillex style. More atmospheric. This is coming soon. The song is done and now we are working on the video for youtube
I think Ray Manzarek is just showing who's the boss. What he gets to hear is just some basic material. As I see it, Skrillex expects them to be as enthousiastic about his basic material as he is himself, a typical old man's reaction like: Wow, does this all come from this tiny laptop??? In the end, it's The Doors doing most of the work and they know it.
Sad thing is when you listen to the song you don't really hear the doors, if I had heard it and not known I'd have thought it's just any other skrillex song
so funny to see dance music being so big and fairly accepted now in the States, in Europe it caught on in the late 80's early 90's, roughly 20 years ago. The only place for the Chicago and Detroit House/Techno musicians was Europe back then. Now all the big european dance producers have moved to America to catch the new wave and business opportunities there.
Ok Skrillex was just way ahead of this time Look at this generation producers even they can make some insane shit but still they can have what Skrillex used to have
John was skeptical about whether he would actually be able to go through on this project or not, so he wanted to listen to the material with the cameras off in case he hated it.
"I can envision one person with a lot of machines-tapes, electronic setups-singing and speaking and using a lot of machines" - Jim Morrison
It's really heartening to see The Doors members go from being super skeptical on working with Skrillex to being totally into it once the song comes together. They had a lot more in common than they thought. Great music transcends generations!
Kyle Sutton 🤘🤘
This is the reason why I'm still returning to this video like every week, it's so inspiring and amazing to watch
actually, even though skrillex looks so hardcore in conerts and stuff like that, he actually seems really nice and respectful. nice job sonny
Carlota Mc Coy yes he does
Jesus is lord. Repent of your sins, be born again, and turn to him to be saved from Hell! Turn away from all your sins before its too late. I love you and God loves you🙏🏼❤️
@@JordanCantFight wtf dude we dont care
Especially since he said “hEck YeaH”
We miss you deeply, Ray Manzarek...your music will live on forever...
Zucchini Clan yes it will

I love when this kind of stuff in the musical world happens
"what speed is that, 130?" "well we're at 175.."
+Kinged thats so hilarious xd
The SunChaser
it cant be explained lol
+The SunChaser because he thought it was a low bpm and it's actually a fast at bpm
Kinged
it also contrasts skrill and the dudes pretty well xD
+kinged well, isn't it more that he thinks of 130 bpm as a fast bpm but didn't realize what fast was in this genre?
It's amazing how Sonny gets along with these old time musicians and how they end up jamming together and enjoying it, though the genres are so different. EPIC! Great video, great song!
Its true, skrillex really does sound like jonah hill.
My god you're so right.
lol................. Can't unhear.
Sveinn Ólafsson Fuck now I can't stop hearing it either
i never really listened/liked their (doors) music, but i still have infinate respect towards them. may he rest in peace. youre lucky skrillex that you got to work with him :)

These guys really threw a lot of negativity at Sonny but he came up with the goods anyway, the track he made sounds dope.
his main DAW (digital audio workshop) is ableton, he uses the plugins FM8 (For Growls), Massive (For growls), Sylenth, Melodyne, Gladiator, Kontakt, and a few others that i dont remember
i just found a new love for this record
glad i watched this.

music unites..... love life music.....

I do believe Jim predicted this kind of music. He was never afraid to try new things. Why should we be?
Music is about having fun and enjoying what you´re doing. But someone always has to put Skrillex down or explain who started Dubstep and shit. The coolest thing is that these artists don´t even give a tiny shit about it.

Actually John seemed to see something in the music, so I think he may have got along well. But yes, he is right, drummers need to keep a groove.
Maria Rosa right. It was a little uncomfortable but was all taken in stride

"Yeah, ok... let's go back to square one." - Ray @ 2:10 lol
What h's made from 1:27 onwards fricking awesome... and the improvisation that the doors do is amazing
Music is all about creation! If you stay still you die... Morrison is a LEGEND but right now this is the new wave! I'm sure that Morrison would never agree with this move but i like that the old and the new styles are combined here!
1:54 I want that song, that drop is so freakin hard. I want that full version any how.
it makes sense if you think about it, they're talking about the whole over-all-broadest genre of music thats gonna be the future, and you can't deny its both dub step and electronic music =]
RIP Ray Manzarek. May 20th I will always think of you. ;(
This is so right and beautiful.
If you're a music fan, it means you like music, not a genre.
Is that actually Ray's voice on the song? That makes me so happy.
Skrillex is a cool guy. I was not aware of his existence. I also did not know of this collaboration until I shared our new recreation to a big doors friend Jim Wall
i find it funny that they just used the first jam they came up with obviously the doors were not feeling this sesh.
The Doors not feeling this session?
Just hear the difference between the basic material and what they added to it!
skrillex is fucking awesome and to combine with the doors is out of this world you both are fucking awesome
Who's that black dude killing it on the vinyl table scratching?
this video is just incredible everytime
the bit that skrillex showed the doors is good and should be released
yes it was its on spotify
skrill wanted to do a drumstep thingy, but the doors happend to want that 140 bpm again :D awesome
"i think the future of music may be like... one man with machines doing everything" - jim morrison. i dont think he'd mind being a part of his prediction
The Doors looked like they wanted to wrap that shit up, collect the check and bounce.
lmao true
that first beat skrillex showed them though
Skrillz sounds like Jonah Hill with my eyes closed
Yes, that's right. I used to listen to dance mixes on an Orlando radio station over the weekend nights. That was the only time one could hear dance music. The rest of the week it was just top 40 tunes. Some of the older generations are stuck in the past with rock. They still have idea what EDM is.
robby seems like a cool guy

imagine if jim was still alive and on board... this song wouldve been epic..!
this video bring back memories...
This is Epic in so many ways. The older and younger generation have a lot to offer one another. In the end, open minds always prevail.
Ableton is huge!
Does anyone know what version of ableton he is using at 00:25
My eyes got full of tears when they started talking about Jim ):
can somebody tell me if there is a video of them listening to the final product i would like tho see what they think of skrillex and his work
This is great! Made my day. Thanks.
Skrlx comes off like such a meek kid in this when he's first talking with Ray and Robby and that is really kinda charming.
The Doors, DJ Premier, Skrillex in one video...........lovely
Does anyone know the building at 5:50 and when Jim lived there?
Those are The Morrison Apartments, He lived there in the summer of 1965. The apartments are on the corner of Speedway and Westminster :)
This concept is what I am doing with CRYSTAL SHIP but not so much Skrillex style. More atmospheric. This is coming soon. The song is done and now we are working on the video for youtube
1:55...someone making a song with that beat or find me where i can find that beat. ITS SICK!
11:12 es Sky?
"GYM MORRISON"! Epic!
They're like "What the fuck is this"
The first beat WAS SOO AWESOMME HE HAS TO RELEASE IT AS BREAKN A SWEAT VIP !!
Haha, sorry for the off topic comment, but the guy with the guitar at 6:37 was in a "California On" video once :D
it was a part of the making of "breakin' a sweat" call it a prototype if you will.
Anyone know the kind of piano/organ that Ray Manzarek is using around 2:30? It has me hooked!
One of the best djs ever with one of the best bands of all time. what else could you ask for!!:)
I just realized, I'm wearing the exact same headphones John was wearing. Feelsgoodman
If they dont go together, then how did they make this badass song?
I love The Doors and this video makes me happy
I would say it's even harder, you have to know about, music theory, Synthesis, Mixing and Mastering, eq, compression, etc
Boy do I miss this
True inspiration to the genre. i'm proud to be a part of the dubstep scene and making dubstep music because of guys like him.
yes , he uses Massive through Ableton Live 8
1:38 Ray is like WTF is this shit
I think Ray Manzarek is just showing who's the boss.
What he gets to hear is just some basic material.
As I see it, Skrillex expects them to be as enthousiastic about his basic material as he is himself,
a typical old man's reaction like: Wow, does this all come from this tiny laptop???
In the end, it's The Doors doing most of the work and they know it.
+Ratelzwatel lol the track was like 90% skrillex at least
I wish skrillex kept the old drop. I liked it a lot better
Same
Should've used it elsewhere.
Sad thing is when you listen to the song you don't really hear the doors, if I had heard it and not known I'd have thought it's just any other skrillex song
I was curious to see how they would reacted to modern day music
alguien puede decirme que es lo q dicen para q el pata diga aha aha aha?
What a brilliant piece of artwork.

I remember this being promoted on fuse back when.
What is the name of the song at 1:35. Sounds Awesome!
Ok Skrillex was just way ahead of this time
Look at this generation producers even they can make some insane shit but still they can have what Skrillex used to have
Only Skrillex can pull something like this off, here in 2024 & thinking “damn I was 12 years old when this record was made.” 😂
At 1:55 I've heard that recently. Isn't there a released version?
Best beat at 1:56
yea it would've been awesome if that was the song :D
yeah true
+Baby Death that part was just AMAZING
where can I watch the full movie.
RIP ray! a legend is gone.
If any of you saw when Jim predicted that music would have electronics and different machines.Pretty good guess.
hey,i did't understand,what happen in 8:30 somebody please tell me .__. !
John was skeptical about whether he would actually be able to go through on this project or not, so he wanted to listen to the material with the cameras off in case he hated it.
they should had made more songs together
Ray gets on the Keys and just improvises one of skrillexs most well known hook.
God damn.
