- We shoot the different weight guide rod springs and show the difference in recoil. Stock guide rod is 17lbs, then we test our Galloway Precision Stainless Steel Guide rods in 20lb and 22lb spring rates.

Got the 22lb and the striker guide a few days ago 🙌 it is awesome I know it's an old video I'm glad I found it thanks Galloway precision
I’ve seen this video many times before, nice info on stock rate, 20 lbs, and 22 lbs. I have the 18 lbs which is proven great and the 20 lbs to be tried next time I go to the range. These new upgrades are far better than the stock guide rod assembly. Metal is far better than plastic. And with little heavy spring rate improves gun performance, more better if match with ammo energy to cycle the slide completely. Thanks to galloway precision where I bought mine. Great shootings, great pulse!👍
Did you guys ever do a video on the 15 lb recoil spring assembly on the APX-A1?
Thanks. Exactly what i was looking for
Glad it helped.
Not really a difference in the double taps. With the 17# the first 2 pairs are as good as the 22#, the 2d shot in the 2nd pair went into the hole of the 1st shot in the first pair. Making those 2 pretty nice pairs. The 3rd and worst pair is no worse than the worse for the 22#. The heavier spring should make a difference in recoil making better recoil control therefore better follow up shots. This demonstration did not bear that out, maybe you are a good enough shooter it didn't mater.
The slow fire makes no sense to me, I don't see how the recoil spring will make a difference in accuracy during slow fire.
Stock rod still more accurate then switching in my opinion
Just purchased the APX 20lb rated system, now we wait and see how it works when it arrives. Looks good on paper. lol I also purchased the HK VP-9 one @ 20lbs. Hey how much more effort will be felt when racking the slide?
Just shot my APX with 22 pound spring plus new striker guide spring. My garden hose has more recoil than this set up. I will not buy another 9 mm, my search is over. Sad news is, now spending money on steel targets and ammo.
Let me help your steel addiction

The heavier springs will not cycle lighter loads, cheaper ammo, been there done that. 9mm nato rounds or +p will cycle.
Any chance the Centurion size will be supported for this
Can u guys make a lighter spring for the compact mines super stiff
Just offer the full size for the APX. Sorry.
@GallowayPrecision aw come on you can do it 🤣🤣
Is there a trigger upgrade for the m9 series that's up to beretta standards if you'd like to shorten your pull length?
Currently we don't, but it's on the project board.
What do you recommend for the APX .40 as far as spring weight? I would like to reduce felt recoil and shoot occasionally 165 Critical Defense but mostly 175 Critical Duty 185 Federal HST. At indoor range it is mostly just 165 grain standard winchester WB
I would go with at least the 20lb rate.
if you change the guide rod spring rate...will it effect the reliability of the gun??? and the barrel lockup?
That will depend on the ammunition more than anything. Going all the way to 22lbs if you shoot low pressure rounds you'll induce malfunctions. Generally if you shoot 115gr or low pressure loads for competition I wouldn't go above 20lbs. 124gr and up go with 22lbs.
GallowayPrecision i mostly shoot 115 Blazer brass thru it.
I'd stick with the 20lb or below then.
GallowayPrecision thanks for the info
Will the 22lb work with beretta apxa1 gud or no
Yes it will work with the APX A1 Full Size models only, no compact or carry versions.
@@GallowayPrecision ok thx u
So is the 22lb better for a higher rounds like 124 n stuff like that ?
Or it's just better then the original n gives a better recoil ?
I'm new into these things, I'm trying to learn n get more educated bout them . Thanks
The 22lb will cycle 115gr just fine as well as long as it's a good quality ammunition. The higher the rate of the spring the greater the reduction in felt recoil and muzzle rise.
GallowayPrecision thank you, got my order today n hope when ever I have the time I'll test her, ordered the 22lb
so which was better ?
Depends on the what grain ammunition you shoot the most really. 115gr, I wouldn't go above 20lbs. 124gr and up 22lbs.
I have issues with my hand and I have a hard time racking the slide. Will the 15 lb spring make it easier to rack the slide?
Slightly yes
would you ship to Canada? looking for guide rod and striker guide for Beretta APX
Unfortunately we don't currently, we are however looking for an exporter.
Can you test this off a ransom rest?
A Ransom Rest isn't going to give you real world data, your firing from a very fixed position, whereas I want to show how it works in a more realistic way by actually holding and shooting at the same time.
The test is done by manufacturer and results are biased do to conflicting interest.
What a crock of crap!!
