After months of research, and holding and firing probably every striker fire ive setteled on the APX as my first hand gun. It feels natural in my hand, and is very comfortable to fire.
Only regret I have is how fucking expensive accessories are. $40 for a mag *before* tax and shipping. Holsters are hard as fuck to find, paid $140 for a holster that would have been $90 for an M&P or Glock. I don't hate the pistol, I hate the cost of ownership.
The Beretta APX is as good or better than other quality full size 9mm pistols, some costing over twice as much. It meets every requirement that we've come to expect from a modern striker fired polymer 9mm. For me the APX was so good that I sold my H&K VP-9 and put that money toward a nice AR Pistol and never regretted it. Thank you for the very informative video vkyle91x.
I purchase the Beretta apx as well and the reason I went with a Beretta if you look at how long they have been making firearms I mean it's over 300 years anything mechanical can fail I don't care who the maker is I mean I like Glocks but Glock only came out in the 80s. The Beretta I think started making firearms in the 1500 I don't know how old you are. The police that's all they carried for a long time was Berettas and you know they're not going to carry anything that's BS
Have had my apx combat about a year now, love it! So glad i went with it over a glock or smith! Loved it so much it made be buy into the brand more with a new 92a1! Havent even shot the new one yet.
I own the APX full size and Compact. Love them both. Sadly overlooked and underappreciated. It is also one of the softest shooting polymer handguns that I have ever shot. Thank you for sharing.
I think this gun has been WAY better sorted out of the box than competing designs. The CZ P10 had a lot of little niggling issues like a terrible mag release out of the box, The Sig 320 had very serious safety issues, the VP9 was undersprung in its earliest guise and even the Gen 5 Glock had issues with the coatings on the earlier triggers where they would degrade quickly (a sort of reverse break-in), the early M&Ps went through multiple generation of breaking strikers and terrible accuracy in 9mm. The APX has had none of these issues, it has been a beast out of the box but it gets no love. This is probably the one of the biggest failures in marketing in modern gun history.
Probably the most comfortable gun i've shot. Got 1 new for $301 b4 the virus hit then seen them go up to $800-900. They have very minimal recoil & will run forever & very very smooth. I don't see how they didn't cost more when they came out. Just as reliable as any major gun out today
I recently purchased my first handgun and it was the APX Centurion 9mm bc I'm left handed and want to conceal carry. I flipped the magazine release to the other side and put on the large grip and put about 300 rounds through it and it worked flawlessly. Completely satisfied with purchase. FWIW, My friend bought a Glock 19 gen 5 for Xmas and we fired our weapons together for first time using cheap ammo and his gun kept jamming.
I always look forward to your videos and I agree with everything you said. The Beretta APX is a very underrated pistol. It's very ergonomic, the stock trigger is great (isn't the best but it's up there), has a relatively low bore axis, the slide is easy to grab/rack, it's easy to take down (contrary to how some UA-cam reviewers make it seem), has a high trigger undercut, comes with grip backstraps to adjust to any size hands instead of buying a new $50 grip module, the grip texture is great (not extremely aggressive but you can get a lockdown grip), it's modular (you can take out the trigger module and put it in a new grip frame very quickly once you know how and it's snug fit in the gun), very reliable (I haven't had a single malfunction in a little over 8,000 rounds mainly shooting cheap ammo) and it's extremely affordable. You can find a Beretta APX, APX Centurion, or APX Compact for around $300 or less prepandemic. Since the pandemic, you can probably find one for under $350. The primary issue is finding an APX at a store in the first place. You can find some online, but I know many people prefer to hold and see a gun in person before they purchase it. I've seen many more APXs at the range and many gun stores that do carry it are consistently selling out. If Beretta can adequately supply gun stores with more stock, I can see more third party aftermarket support for the APX. P.S. if anyone owns an APX, I highly recommend purchasing a competition firing pin spring assembly at $15 directly from Beretta's website. You can install it yourself without taking it to a gun armorer. This upgrade reduces the trigger weight by 1/3-1/2 a pound making it such a sweet shooter. The trigger weight is still enough to carry safely while making it so much more fun to shoot.
Great job, thanks. I agree the grip of this pistol is fantastic, but also it is balanced very well. Lastly, for anyone that may be getting spooked from recent Sig 320 safety concerns, I highly recommend you take a look at the Beretta APX pistol that has significant testing done around the world with no known issues.
The APX is my EDC. I Absolutely love the way it fits my hand. I really like the look and how it was built to last. The only thing that I wanted to change was the sights but the ones it comes with isn't bad. Good review.
Just got finished watching your 92A1, PX4 Storm, APX video and I was pleased to find you just uploaded this! I just purchased the APX fullsize as a birthday gift for my wife, who simply said, "I want a Beretta". After much research I went with the APX, and am anxious to get some actual range time. I paid COVID/gunbroker prices due to lack of inventory in Maine, around $450 after FFL fee, so I feel a little salty seeing all of the $350 price-range comments from the past few years. I am looking to get the Centurion .40 S&W for myself as an EDC as the US falls into a shitstorm. You won a sub outta me today my friend!
Another informative video, thanks. Please keep them coming. They are a tremendous help on various upgrades as well as getting to know key aspects of the handguns .
In regards to the RDO optics, Beretta offers a mounting plate for a red dot. Simply remove the rear sight and install the plate. It was the first purchase I made after I got my APX
I'm with you all the way. Bought 2 back when they first came out back in 2017. At the time I was regularly training with my Springfield XDM 9mm, my CANIK TP9 SF and TP9 SFX. I found myself only bringing my APX to the range. I prob have 7K rounds, at least.. through mine and have never had the first malfunction, whatsoever. I don't (wonder) if I could count on it, but rather I have no (doubt) that I can bet my life on the reliability of my APX. Nuff said. I ended up selling the XDM and buying a second APX. AWESOME PISTOL
I’ve tried just about every striker fired gun out there and think the APX is tops. I have 3; FS RDO, cent RDO, and compact. It’s a fantastic shooter with great ergos.
I just got an APX Centurion on Saturday. As soon as I got home I took it out into the yard and put 15 rounds through it. In the next few days I'll burn up a lot more ammunition with it. It's a real hoot to shoot.
I've seen this model pistol at various gun stores, however I've overlooked it mainly for the odd (to me) serrations. The overall look, was also unappealing in that it looked cheap in quality. Since then and through numerous reviews, like yours, very well done by the way, I've been reconsidering, if not actively searching for the best deals on this pistol. You and some other reviewers comments, have about convinced me of the quality and performance capability of the APX. Thanks for the video, it was informative and entertaining. Yours in particular has about swayed me toward purchasing an APX.
Im a gun nut who lost count of how many I have. I compulsively buy and live to shoot. I own Glocks, Rugers, Taurus, HK, S&W M&P, Springfield XD's, Colts, Kimbers, Kel Tecs, CZs, Berettas DiamondBacks, Kahrs, Sigs, Phoenix Arms, and I probably forgot a manufacturer, but I think that's all of them that I own. What I carry the majority of the time is the APX. I own 3 of them and prob $1200 in spare replacement parts and accessories. I am not sure what you are seeing, but the APX feels and is every bit as robust if not more so than others on the market. Nothing feels or looks cheap on it IMHO.
@@80sDon I need to clarify my original opinion of the APX. I had only looked at it, not held it, nor even shot it, therefore I was unaware of what so many of you APX owners know. My initial comment and assessment was purely based upon it's looks and my uneducated perception of it's quality and performance. I was unaware of the military connection and the over-all reputation of the Barretta line of firearms. I just knew they were popular. My perception was tainted due to my experience with many of the firearm manufacturers you mentioned. An admitted mistake on my part. I am now strongly considering an APX for my next purchase.
Undoubtedly, the Beretta APX is a fantastic handgun, undeservedly "flying under the radar." Not only is reliable, accurate, with amazing ergonomics, but the price point is unbeatable!
Had my .40 S&W APX for about a month or so and ran 150 rnds through it so far without a peep! Love this gun. Beretta's period. Lookin' into getting another APX .9mm, and either the Centurion or PX4 Storm. Great video
I’m very much satisfied with your review of the beretta apx full size 9mm. It’s all detailed and clear message about this gun. I’ve shot around 500 rounds on it and it shoots so great and flawless. This is my first gun, made in Italy, the ferrari of pistols in terms of design, ability, capability, and modularity. The price is ok, mine is $494 bought from Tobey pawn shop Apr.2020. I like to hold and feel it all the time, it’s great!
I'm one of those that went to the store for a p320 and left with the APX A1. The p320 has a better trigger, but that's where it ends. The APX just offers more and seems more solid. Plus, with Beretta, you're not blowing $60 on a mag like Sig. And I'm sure they're made in the same factory. The A1 has more functional serrations, but I love the Toblerone grooves.. So Italian.. lol
I do love my APX, but man I think the Walther PPQ is one of my favorite shooting guns that I don't own (and may never be able to with the shortage and Walther switching to the PDP which is also supposedly fantastic)
Also, a perk is, when the slide is back on an empty mag, when you drop the old mag and slam in a new full mag the slide automatically closes and chambers a new round, saves you about half a second or so in reloads.
Nice informative video. I own the APX Centurion, purchased it back in March last year from Cabelas. CCW EDC in my rotation. Added AmeriGlo H3 RD Night Sights Olight PL-Mini 2. Have the competition Green Firing Pin Striker, still using the Black one. Feel it better for my use.
As far as holsters, let's say that I started doing holsters for apx, glocks, Smith and wesson 2 years ago..and so far it's been good..all iwb holsters.
I myself have the Beretta app full size and centurion. Great gun.. I made some changes to my fullsize..front and rear fiber optic sights(front red and rear green) competition reducer spring and recoil spring and wolfgray frame and it looks fantastic. I shoot better with this gun than my service glock 19. Great video as always.
Excellent in depth review. I’m really interested in these especially the rdo. There isn’t another optics ready gun at the price they are going for here in the US.
Canik is comparable in the u.s. from what I have heard I am in Canada though but I have the tp9sfx and love it from what I have seen on videos and heard you can pick up a Canik for under 500 bucks in the US.
I love the APX. I'm trying to find out if I have to get another slide for the red dot. The new ones comes optic ready but don't really know what's what.
hey man, just noticed you are from Canada and you're a firearms channel. Please continue to upload and make more content. don't let the firearm community in Canada die out. I'm always supporting gun heads up north 💜💜
The nonstarter for me was the aftermarket support or lack there of. I think it’s a great pistol. It fits my hand. They came out with the extruded serrations before Walther did on the PDP. It also has a great trigger and cheap mags. But if you want to put a dot on it or get a holster for it, there aren’t as many options as some other guns. The APX would be a perfect gun to carry and not modify it in any way. But I like to tinker.
Regarding the Sig P320, is there a bigger slide release lever available? I absolutely hate the plastic under the lever on the gun on the left side while I’m trying to lock the slide open. Wish the frame could be replaced without that plastic ridge. I’m right handed, so I’m using the left side slide catch, and have noticed the right side has a different configuration of plastic ridge. I actually own the M17 and consistently shoot low left and others shooting that gun, experience the same low left problem. So any thoughts on different slide release options, or frame options and front site adjustments on the Sig M17?? Just bought the apx, haven’t shot it yet, can’t wait. Love the video!
Great review. I've been debating getting some tritium sights for my APX compact vs. getting an m17 which comes with them. I think this helps me make my decision.
I personally believe that the removable chassis system requiring the pin to be pushed while the spring is pulled up, is probably the only reason they did not win the military contract. It is a far superior pistol to the sig.
I can completely feild strip and pullout the chassis out of my Centurion frame and install it in my Compact frame within 3 to 5 minutes at most. Why would that be a big deal? There is 1 notch in the pin in which the spring rest. You simply lift the spring out of that notch and then push the pin out. It is easy and takes literally a second to do...
Me too. I actually won my APX in a fundraiser raffle. Went to the gun shop to pick it up fully expecting to trade it in on something else.... but after I held it I decided I would at least try it since it was so comfortable.... Now I'll sell my S&W before I ever get rid of my APX lol
I shot a class with a glock g17 gen five I really liked it how it felt when shooting it how would you say the beretta compares? Also the g17 had a duel recoil spring Wich I thought was the reason it felt so nice but the new beretta apx a1 models the full size comes with a single spring and compact comes with the duel any comment on that ?
I just realñized that you are the same reviewer of the Canuk 1911 which I bought after seeing your review and now I have bought the APX as well. Quick question, did you need a special sight pusher to change the rear sight? I ask since Beretta states that you need to use their on specifically designed for the APX. Thanks
I think even SIG thinks this is a better design. If you look at the P365 which came out after the 320, they used a lot of the same ideas including the full length rails, the rear pin, and of course a MUCH lower bore axis. The 320 (which I do really like) suffers from being adapted from a hammer gun.
I have the beretta apx centurion absolutely loved it now after one year and only 250 to 300 rounds .now i am having light primer strikes resulting in misfires just click any advise please
Interesting points about the APX. Nevertheless, I wouldn't trade the idiot-proof Sig Sauer disassembly system for either the Glock ND-inducing nor the striker deactivation systems just because I would have to put back the disassembly lever back in place after resassembly...
Nice! Did you just got them? Compact will be my edc when i get my hands on it, Ill just look around. Sucks that you can't get a hold of them this days.

I just got my first gun, happens to be the Beretta APX Centurion. How did you change the sights on yours? I believe you have to get the sight installation tool for it, correct?
@@johndaltrocanto that’s what I did, Beretta made the dovetail so tight he broke the original fibre optic front sight I had. To get the rear sight out they had to use a press and 2 tons of pressure to move it
That’s really a Ford vs Chevy argument. Both are great guns in my opinion. It really comes down to which one feels better in your hand. My personal bias would say grab the APX but that would be me making the decision for you

Ain't that the damn truth!
I agree.
Especially @ the $325 price tag!!!

@@johnleon2594 I have the TP9SFX love it.
Man! Just picked one up from sportsman’s. 329. How could I pass a beretta up at that price. Pick up in a few days.
@@stopplayin7022 U got an APX for that price it must be US price.
Yes indeed! 357 out the door. Ordered Tuesday. Pick up in a few days.
I bought the APX when it was released so i paid the high price. But i couldn’t be happier. It just feels great shoots great and really does look great
Also i have the same color combo as yours. ODG frame FDE slide and a FDE TLR1 HL
Did you have much trouble replacing the sights, did you use a sight pusher?
@@BB-bp6vn i took it to gunsmith, paid $35
@@BB-bp6vn it's best to have gunsmith do it, they have proper tools. If you do it yourself strong possibility that you might break the sight..
Excellent video, very clear and informative! I'm very surprised that your channel isn't much, much larger. 👍👍
Great video, love the information that you give on a very underestimated piece !!
Bought one used from a pawn shop with two 21 rd mags for under $400. Love everything about this firearm.
I have the 21 round mags also but they DO NOT lock back on the last round.
@@ottoskorzeny8701 your right, I have 3 of them and none lock back the slide.
I know you are Canadian Bacon but I appreciate your videos.
I wanted one but my local shops are having difficulty finding one ...
I love this gun!
Superb presentation of an over looked firearm.
I was sketchy about the design, I got it an it grew on me man. I like my apx, it looks sexy af.
Great Video -- love my APX
Just special ordered mine today. Can't wait 😁
Very important information here.
Great thorough video. Do you know if the chassis from a full size will fit in the Centurion or the compact frames?
Yes
No it won't. Just the Centurion and Compact are interchangeable. The full size and the Carry are by themselves.
Interesting.
I'd love to see you do a direct comparison between the APX and other striker-fired pistols, especially Glocks.

Beretta very best 🔝🥇❤️🏆
I've also heard the P320 can accidentally discharge! I know Springfield XD had a problem with that! Really interested in the apx may pick one up.
The grip is enough to convince me
That's what SOLD ME!!
Plus the Serations😎😎
@@johnleon2594 Serrations and made in Italy
Me too. I actually won my APX in a fundraiser raffle. Went to the gun shop to pick it up fully expecting to trade it in on something else.... but after I held it I decided I would at least try it since it was so comfortable.... Now I'll sell my S&W before I ever get rid of my APX lol
@@mattcorley9811 Which SW is it? We would never try one here
I luv my APX
Where did you buy the front & rear sights? I was thinking of the same colour optics when I purchase the gun.
Where can you buy grip moduls in Canada? How is it compare to sig p320 and Glock?
They’re available through Stoeger Canada. I also have a video comparing the 3 pistols
@@vkyle91x Thanks.
It's better than a Glock oh wait everything's better than a Glock LOL
What do you enjoy more your Langdon 92 or your 92x performance?
Just put 400 rounds through my APX last night. I love this pistol.
Hello teacher! How are you? Which one do you recommend for home defense? The Centurión or the Compact?
Do I hear a tad of canook in your accent? Excellent video!
I just realñized that you are the same reviewer of the Canuk 1911 which I bought after seeing your review and now I have bought the APX as well. Quick question, did you need a special sight pusher to change the rear sight? I ask since Beretta states that you need to use their on specifically designed for the APX. Thanks
Beretta likes to push their own products a little too much. I just used my universal one
The manual says dry firing is going to damage the gun after a while
I think even SIG thinks this is a better design.
I have Apx centurion
It's really good pistol
Interesting points about the APX. Nevertheless, I wouldn't trade the idiot-proof Sig Sauer disassembly system for either the Glock ND-inducing nor the striker deactivation systems just because I would have to put back the disassembly lever back in place after resassembly...
Wow, great video! I subbed!
hi, this is my next gun, thanks for sharing
Keep going 😊
Best trigger, slide & hand grip and better quality than the 320. Makes you wonder what the military was thinking.
Price.... the military was thinking who would be the cheapest
Wish LTT would do some frames for it.
I have the full size apx 40 cal I love it but im looking to trade it for the 9mm apx
Man hard to find centurion and compact at this moment.. ill just wait till i can find one.
It'll be worth the wait. I love mine!
Nice! Did you just got them? Compact will be my edc when i get my hands on it, Ill just look around. Sucks that you can't get a hold of them this days.
@@luckybaldivicio5830 I bought my Centurion in October 2018 and I love it. Nice trigger with almost no recoil.
@@williamparks1503 cool update finally just got mine yesterday found them online at buds and ordered it 3 days ago picked it up at my ffl dealer awesome pistol feels good in the hand build like a tank.
@@luckybaldivicio5830 congratulations and welcome to the APX Club. I know you're going to love it. There's a Beretta APX group on Facebook that I'm in where you'll see how people have modified and accessorized their APX handguns. I'm a stock guy myself, but some of the mods are really nice. You should check it out. Happy shooting my friend!
What is the best way to order one
hey i found a centurion for sale, it comes with a 10-round mag, do you know if there's a larger mag for the centurion?
They are nice pistols
I just got my first gun, happens to be the Beretta APX Centurion. How did you change the sights on yours? I believe you have to get the sight installation tool for it, correct?
It’s a bastard. You damn near need a press to get them in and out
@@vkyle91x damn, okay. Maybe some fabric paint will do just to touch up the sights a bit. Thanks for the reply
I mean, beretta sells the $2500 tool for changing sights, but it's really not intended for consumers, best thing you can do is have a gunsmith do it
@@johndaltrocanto that’s what I did, Beretta made the dovetail so tight he broke the original fibre optic front sight I had. To get the rear sight out they had to use a press and 2 tons of pressure to move it
I got a ? Is the EAA Gibson a good handgun
Excellent info
Great review...im getting one..
Just one?!!
How would you compare the APX to S&W M&P 2.0, which one should I buy as my first gun?
That’s really a Ford vs Chevy argument. Both are great guns in my opinion. It really comes down to which one feels better in your hand. My personal bias would say grab the APX but that would be me making the decision for you
@@vkyle91x Awesome, thank you!
