Little did we ALL know at the time, but this would be our last "normal" summer for a few years.....
Do you remember those days? Phrases like "social distancing", "flatten the curve", "stay safe",and my personal favourite, "We're all in this together" became normal, not just here in North America, but literally all over the world. If this pandemic has taught us anything at all it's being patient, and more importantly it's shown us that as mere human beings we are all fragile physically, but certainly not emotionally.
Thank you both for providing some emotional therapy with your videos, I love them as I'm sure thousands of others have to. xx

I love your open heart and your ability to think on your own instead of letting others define who you are. It's so refreshing!! Years ago I lived in a camper with no running water (we collected run off from the roof in large containers)or flush toilet and we hung our clothes out on a clothesline. My husband and I welcomed our first 2 children into the world there on our own before deciding to live a more conventional life. I still miss the simplicity and freedom of our start as a couple. Life got busy and at some point I realized we'd become enmeshed in the responsibilities of a "normal life." Sigh... I dream of having a chance of doing something like that again when my 5 teens are gone.

I’m writing this after emerging from Yamaska National provincial Park in Quebec (very good biking) and Acadia in Maine - working my way back west to Colorado after six weeks on the road with my two kids while my husband travels for work. Teardrop camper and a rooftop tent for an epic summer road trip.
National parks are a treasure! Acadia is especially beautiful and wild and awe inspiring and worth every mile and minute on the road. Love your videos and your promotion of a simpler life.

    I'm from Iowa.
I took a college trip to New York about 10 years ago. One of the last places we visited was Central Park. I have heard a lot about Central Park, and was really excited.
It is beautiful, don't get me wrong. But its NATURE. And there are people EVERYWHERE. Took me a minute to realize that in NYC, they cram all of their nature into Central Park. After a week in NYC, it was a bit more beautiful, but then we flew home, where we have a bit more nature everywhere!

Really wish I had a way to message so I'd know you guys read this. Only bcuz I want y'all to know what an impact you have on one person. You guys live the life I have dreamed of since high school, I'm now 39. The weight of just life plus bad decision making led me into the world of addiction. And by that I mean a crippling addiction I deal with every minute of every day. If I share something real and honest it would be that I don't have anything to wake up for each and every day. So, where do y'all come into play? I found you guys about 6mnths ago while watching vids of people living the kinda life I missed out on. There is something about your vids specifically that bring this amazing amount of joy and calm that I don't often get with my lifestyle. So thank you! A thousand times thank you! I realize it's not the impact you probably expect to make on someone but means so much to me and really gets me through some tough days. Sincerely.

the waste problem is so massive, and I feel your pain. those tetra packs are so convenient, but not easily recyclable. and now theres little use in recycling plastic since it has a good chance of being put in a landfill anyway. I suppose aluminum cans and glass are the best bet now, cons being both are heavy and one is fragile. I have been reusing more of my recycling for small herb planters. it might not be a solution for forever, but it's at least giving it another use.

Fun factoid... National FORESTS are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Thus the cows. Their mission is to provide agricultural uses, including forestry and grazing to “the nation”. Recreation is sort of a secondary or ancillary use. Try to at least pay their way as an agency through permits, fees, timber sales etc. National PARKS are part of the Department of Interior, and were created to preserve and protect natural and cultural resources for the use and enjoyment of the public. Each agency was formed by establishing legislation that tells the agency what Congress wants them to manage land for. (Former Park ranger and federal land manager.). Forgive me if this comes off in any way other than sharing some info that lots of people have no reason to particularly understand or care about. 🤪

The sheer danger of many of the hiking trails really gives a different perspective of the world I don’t even know how to describe it. And the general sherman tree in sequoia is just epic. So cool that trees that big exist on earth and are gonna be here long after we’re gone. It’s almost comforting in a strange way idk. ranchers bring their cows into national forest land to help preserve the grasslands and mimic the herbivory of the large grazers like buffalo that used to roam through all of North America! It's actually super cool and what I'm doing an internship in right now. Look up restorative/adaptive grazing! I'm working on doing soil surveys to help provide more evidence of the positive influence of livestock grazing done well.

I worked a seismic job years ago. There were cows on the property. They tore up all kinds of things.
Chewed up my trailer wires, tie downs, and even lanyards for the seismic bags. Like having 1500 pound puppies.
    They can jump surprisingly high.

Cotton balls soaked with pure peppermint oil in a GLASS open container. Mice and bugs hate peppermint we use this when we have to put the motorhome up for the winter. It can go in the under storage and some set them on the tires or where a pipe comes in. Also a herbal product called Fresh Cab we use to. It smells good and is safe for all. We have used these items for 4 years now and have had no mice or rat problems. We keep in in the basement storage all year long even when we are camping. Hope this helps. That mouse was lucky you found it. It would not of faired as well with me.

The cattle graze on the land, think they pay a fee for that. It helps for fires as the cattle eat helps stop spread.
Thank you both for the videos. Very nice!
In Arizona the cattle really do help by simply eating.

The anniversary of our first date is also July 4th! We are heading out west and hitting up as many national parks as we can in September! I'm so glad you guys are too that way I can get all your tips. Mice in our trailer is the bain of my existence...lol I have to put everything in bins when we park it and make sure no crumb is in it. Even thought I promise we have plugged every hole they will still get in. We are weekend warriors so ours stayed parked in the shed a good bit.

@@ElsaRhae We actually met when she was 16 and I was 19. Gas station outside of Seattle. No interest in girls back then. Kept bumping into her and finally got up the courage to ask her on a date. She had a little boy by then who is now 40 years old. To this very day I look forward to seeing the rise and fall of the sheets to know she is still alive and this being so the rest of the world can take a number.

Kamp is so cute! I didn't know dogs were allowed out on the trails in the national parks because of wildlife concerns. I'm glad that he is because hiking and exploring with a dog wish so rewarding!

We hit up the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone last year! We loved getting to spend a night at the Grand Tetons but Yellowstone is simply amazing. Be sure to go to the “Boiling River” swimming area in Montana, in the Mammoth area of Yellowstone National Park! Free amazing hot spring that joins with a lovely natural river, it is such a blast to swim in!! Have a wonderful time, and watch out for Bison!

Child safety locks for cabinets could work instead of the keys.. Also there's special magnets that are used as locks.. Ive seen it on someone's van build not sure what they're called.
