Hip belts help carry heavier loads and waist belts do not ride on your hips. Waist belts are only intended to stabalize the pack and they ride higher on the body and not on your hips. Waist belts are intended more for smaller, lighter, day packs.
thanks for the video, I just got my new goruck and wanted to make sure I knew how to set it up. Question. there are two webbings on the side for the hip belt. I noticed you used the inner most webbing. When, or would you use the outside webbing for your hip belt attachment?
Because they let their tac and fitness bro image go to their head. They're terrible values, you have to pay $40 before shipping for hip pads and ~12-15 for a sternum strap which come standard from everyone else including other American makers. Just paid full price for a GR2 and it's laughably plain.
Is there a reason instructions can’t be included? Trying to view this on a phone. Impossible to see. I’m going to end up sending this whole over priced book bag back.
@@glassmw9823 Standard size. I should have the smaller one but it's never available. I've read about someone taking theirs to a shoe maker and get it altered to fit better.
Lower the ruck - great idea unless you are 6'4" and then there is no way you can get the ruck to fit correctly. I end up having to connect the belt to the last loop only so all the weight is only supported by the bottom loop on the side of the ruck. I then put an aftermarket belt over that to increase the width of the belt even further so I can get it down to my hips. Someday Goruck might offer a longer set of shoulder straps or maybe I can find someone else to make up a set for me. I love my GR1, just wish it would fit correctly.
Yeah I think it's obvious the GR1 wasn't designed with the hip belt in mind, it's more of an afterthought. From day 1 it's supposed to be high on your shoulder. Jason said on the blog that they are designing new bags for next year, maybe those will utilize it better.
The hip belt straps are NOT sewn into the slot, you CAN extract the webbing from the slot. Do you want to ruck with the hip belt, do you REALLY want to ruck with it? If so, then you'll learn how to handle those straps. Yes, it's difficult at first, but you'll get it. I'm speaking from experience.
Hiking ultralight actually shoulder carry look at hmg, z pack no real frame or load straps, but backpacking and hunting normally load 70% on the hips and you can carry weight much more efficiently you’re lowering the center of gravity and your lower body is much stronger. I’d say anything over 30lbs you should be loading the hips.
Ugh. I just got my hip belt only to realize it doesn’t work on the bullet. Normally I’d say duh but it was a suggested accessory to the bullet on the site … lame
My son needed two shoulder operations from several deployments in ME due to the military making them carry all the weight of armor , loaded magazines, etc . on the shoulders. Common problem, too . Wears out your shoulder sockets . Torn rotator cuff . I'm just saying , get the hip belt, and follow his advice .
Just what I needed. Very easy to follow and some great added weight bearing tips. Thank you!

Would someone out there give me a demo on how to install a water bottle pocket onto the hip belt molle?
Genuinely curiosu why wouldnt the hip belt replace the molle points it uses so its still usable

It’s whatever fits you best. Please apply common sense.

I don't understand why they don't come as standard like most backpacks. It's the only thing stopping me from buying a Goruck.

I’ve had this attachment for two years and I couldn’t figure it out, then I looked at comments and boom, UA-cam! Got it figured out
Any idea why these don't come in smaller lengths? I have a 32" waist and it is cinched all the way in.
You got the small size or the large?

When are these going to be back in stock?
Thanks. Did it just like you said not too until I watched this video.
Which combination is best for running?
If we could get a GR2 with the same hip belt system as the GR3 i would be a REALLY happy man.
Got my hip belt and the straps are sewn into the dam slot where the fit, you cannot extract the webbing from the slot. :( Have to send them back
I thought that too but some are just really lodged in there. Loosen the free part, then pull from the top of the side they come out of in the video.
@@patfurrey5550 Literally came here for this. Thanks. A rugged old pen and some mechanical advantage works wonders.
@@ughtentide I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem. Unfortunately, I can't seem to do it.

The link does work, where can I get one?
Nvm just ordered mine

What is the name of this padded belt and where can I buy it? The link posted in the description does not work....
Cameron Miles Young Go to GoRuck.com and check out the accessories section. It’s priced at $60
Is that Black with the blue nylon an upcoming model, sold out or something? I don't see it on the website.
He’s done that once or twice.
Great explanation. I was wondering why a military youtuber explained the belt's correct position one way and the usual trekker youtubers another

Oh! that’s why my hip belt kept coming undone... Next time I’ll be sure to RTFM.
Finally got mine! Got so tired of my pack flying all over my neck during bear crawls…… 😩 but not anymore!!!!! Wooooh!!!
I imagine that these packs are great for day travel but probably horrible for true backpacking.
neat cone shovel

Can this fit on a 5.11 rush 24 backpack
It has molle stations on the sides so it's possible. I'm asking this myself
@@TacticalLeo Have you tried it out?
Seen people saying it works on the rush 12 so shouldn't be a problem

No no no! All wrong. This is a good way to f’ your back. It should be above your hips.
Exactly. Should sit at belly button level and snug so you create internal pressure while breathing.
GOFUCK is better... ;-P
