    I got pierced with bad jewelry and a thick 14g curved barbell too. Switching the jewelry saved my piercing, some piercers have no idea what they’re doing I swear.

      ‘’-_- me too. My helix was pierced with the same and after 10 month of bumps and bleeding and pain I switched it to a straight bar. After one month no bumps no pain no bleeding or leaking. Now I know to ask what jewelry they’ll use before they do it.

      When I got my daith pierced, they pierced it with a 14g and it took literal years for it to heal. I can't find any pretty daith rings in that size, so I just wear 16g now, but it moves around so much.

    • @asmrsleep3079

      Is it bad to get a 14g for piercings like the conch? I got my conch today with a 16g but my friend got hers with a 14g a long time ago and her's took forever to heal (about a year)

    • @elena-elenaaa
      @elena-elenaaa 2 роки тому +1

      @@asmrsleep3079 its not the normal size used for this piercing ive heard. With 14g the hole will be bigger which means more area that needs to heal. The jewelry might be a bit heavier as well which will make it harder to heal. After i switched to the smaller 16g size i had zero problems and the piercing healed really fast!

      I’ve had my industrial pierced for 9 years and it STILL crusts and swells sometimes, depending on if my hair gets caught in it, if I yank it with a hairbrush, or sleep on that ear. Her industrial is the only piercing to me that looked a little iffy and honestly sometimes that’s just the way they look on certain days, even cleaning it once to twice a day.

      They make you sign a waiver so you cant.....

    • @vampiresslina
      @vampiresslina 5 років тому +38

      Depends on what the waiver said and what the conversation was regarding the jewelry. Even then, it would be hard without evidence of what happened in the shop. She could have very well picked that particular jewelry because it was the cheapest one they had. Also a warning sign that they used a horseshoe in that area. That does not look like it's meant to be there, and piercing with horseshoes and hoops could mean a harder healing process.
      But as for a lawsuit, she would need evidence of their care instructions (whether they could have led to the issues with her ear) and also if they sold her that jewelry under the premise that it was good quality or not.
      It wouldn't be worth her time, honestly. Best to just use word of mouth and leaving reviews on all online platforms to warn other people.

Since I have had the bar changed out with a horseshoe I've discovered that I can easily just pop the outer part of the shoe into the inside of my ear and I can lay on that ear with no problem and it hasn't agitated it whatsoever.

      @rykahchilds3024 4 роки тому +23

      Lydia Gragg Lydia Gragg yes you are supposed to be cleaning the piercings daily but what nikki is trying to say is that piercings get crusty in between cleaning periods. you’re only supposed to clean the piercing once a day so that’s 24 hours in between cleaning and it’s bound to get a little dirty. also some people’s body’s heal differently. i have 14 piercings myself and my conch got bumps like that on it a couple of times and i was cleaning it exactly how i was supposed to but that was just my body’s way of healing. not everyone heals perfectly when it comes to piercings so don’t say rude shit like that about people unless u know the full story hun.

    • @dionahite4671
      @dionahite4671 4 роки тому +13

      rykah childs exactly! These comments are so rude towards this girl! Plus a lot of information is being thrown around. I have my helix pierced and for most of the healing experience I had a little IRRITATION bump on my piercing. It went away after my helix was completely healed. My daith has two bumps and my pierced (who is APP certified and has a fine jewelry collection plus won a shit ton awards) has told me it looked fine as I got it changed on Saturday. A lot of people in these comments are so misinformed.

    Ohhh, that looked brutal! I have 3 piercings on my lower ear lobes and one cartilage piercing on both ears. My right ear got a keloid? On the cartilage and I actually forced it to drain and thankfully I didnt scar or anything and looks really good now. But my cartilage were done at a piercing kiosk at the mall and I was 20 and was a spur of the second who cares about my body sort of moment. Didnt sleep for 6 months cause I couldnt lay on either side of my head please I got my second holes done at the same time. Oh it was bad all over and my cartilage are both slanted piercings. They healed great cause I was really good at cleaning and checking on them. But I dont wear regular stud earrings in them cause the slant of the piercing goes right into the back of my ear and I'm so not ok with it. I actually used the horse shoe design earing with two balls on it after the hinged hoop ones started leaving indents on the spot they rest in my cartilage. Then eventually I found these short little rod like earrings with two balls and I love them. No pokes in the back and are long enough that my piercings get plenty of breathing room and am quite happy with them. But now I cant decide if I wanna do a second cartilage or a 4th lower ear lobe piercing. It's been about 6 years since my last piercings.

    • @graceb4161
      @graceb4161 5 років тому

      I was told by my piercer to clean around that many times a day. If you use a sea salt solution be more cautious as it can dry the area up with too many uses, but a saline one will be fine. As long as you don't touch it or irritate when u clean you should be fine.

    How long does it take before you can sleep on a helix piercing. Also, I want a double helix but is it better to wait for a single helix to heal or do both at the same time?

    • @lenischl
      @lenischl 5 років тому +1

      Took me a little less than about a year and a half. Patience is EVERYTHING with cartilage piercings. Sucks but once it's fully healed nothing irritates it anymore. I sleep on it, change the jewelry and fiddle with it.

    • @graceb4161
      @graceb4161 5 років тому

      I got a triple helix done at the same time. I think as long as you get it on one side you should be fine. Sleeping can be a bit hard at first but at least i had the other side to sleep on.

    • @candicef8284
      @candicef8284 5 років тому

      I just did a double helix a few days ago. Also got a rook 3 weeks ago. All on the same side. My reasoning is that I'll already be cleaning one so I might as well just clean all three at once. Especially since I have dry skin so the salt water just makes it worse sometimes. That way all of them can soak at the same time for the same length of time instead of having to extend the soaks out for over a year and a half had I waited for each one to heal individually before adding another. Really you just have to pick what would be best for you.

    • @JessRansdellSmith
      @JessRansdellSmith 5 років тому

      Might as well get them done at the same time. You get the healing period over sooner and you can, usually, salt soak them at the same time so the process isn't much longer than with just one.
      I got my one done and it's been...8 months and I was just now getting to the point that I could sleep on it. Changing jewelry and fiddling with it is no problem but it still doesn't like me laying on it for very long periods of time. Neither does the rook I got done at the same time. They can take up to a full year to heal completely through, so keep that in mind.

I have my earlobes pierced 2 holes on each side, first hole when I was like five, and second about 10 years later... after the healing of the second time I got an systemic infection in my stomach and after that both holes have been completely unusable... healed but when I put jewelry in (gold, silver, rvs) I get an infection after a few hours... both holes.. I tried almost everything... would repiercing it help?

      Old lady piercee here. It was common back in the 90s to pierce with a 14 for everything (yes, this did look as ridiculous as you'd think sometimes.) and some older piercers and their apprentices are still in the habit. It won't hurt anything to leave it at 14 but a lot of cute jewelry these days is a 16. DON'T take out the jewelry until it has healed properly no matter what you decide- you can damage the piercing and create opportunity for infection. Once it's healed you can use whichever gauge you'd prefer.

    • @mbc264
      @mbc264 5 років тому

      It’s not the gauge that was the issue, it was the quality of the jewelry(should be surgical stainless steel for initial piercings or a real , not mixed, metal jewelry..I’ve seen platinum or tungsten) and the type. It should be flat back for conch piercings. Every place I have been to for piercings, and I have a total of 20, with 15 in my ears) have let me know this.

    • @jalexoneschanel1356
      @jalexoneschanel1356 4 роки тому +4

      Not keloids, but hypertrophic scarring. There’s a bit of a difference between them. Hypertrophic scarring goes away but keloids are permanent without surgical scar revision. True keloids are also pretty rare and people who get them typically know they get them before they get piercings or tattoos. Hypertrophic scarring is common early on in healing but often goes away on its own or without minimal work. Massaging with oil after adequate healing- to the point of safe jewelry changes- can do it.
