    I feel like people don't know how to properly clean a piercing. They may put some cleaner on a qtip and "clean" it, everyday but (especially with industrials) there are so many little nooks that you need to get into and clean. You know the series you did, 10 facts? Maybe do a cleaning series.

      Inge Sexton I agree which is why I suggested that they have a printed copy for the client to take home after getting a piercing. If they explain it or have them watch a video of it along with the print copy there’s no excuse for not cleaning and caring for it. With the Tea Tree oil it’s important to remember to wash it off after 30 minutes because it can irritate the skin.

      Putting saline on a q tip can have some negative consequences depending on the piercing and how fresh it is. When I got my nose pierced I was told to soak it in saline for 3 months and then to spray saline on the inside and outside of my nostril until it was fully healed, and soak in either saline or sea salt as needed. I got my tragus piercing today and my piercer told me not to use anything besides non-woven gauze pads and wound wash and especially not q-tips because the fibers of the q-tips can get trapped in the piercing and cause infections and irritation. I guess it really depends on the piercing, the piercer, and the freshness of the piercing but both piercers I’ve used don’t recommend q-tips at all.

      Also depends on personal problems as well, lots of oiliness or sweat. You can do all of the right things but it’s not enough. I got my industrial done as my first ever ear piercing and hardly cleaned... Possibly 1-2 times a week with water on a q-tip lol (I was 12 and did it myself) It turned out perfectly fine somehow... Now I have 15 ear piercings all done professionally and with much more rigorous care. Sometimes you’re lucky.

      @@fruitysan very true I had mine done years ago and one never was a great piercing. Always crusty and sometimes would hurt. I let it heal and had it redone later and it was just fine! I still don't have any issues with it. Nothing I did, as far as cleaning etc goes changed but one piercing turned out terrible next time it was fine. Weird.

    Industrial piercings are high maintenance when you have long hair. Head bands work amazing when sleeping and after showering. Wear your hair up until it heals. Diluting the tea tree oil with a carrier oil works great too. I also add a drop of lavender oil because its an anti inflammatory and calms the skin.

    People keep saying “just clean it, show a cleaning tutorial” some people can clean it as much as they can/want and the can still get the keloids. I clean mine 3 times a day and made sure my hair never got caught and I still have a keloid on my cartilage.

    • @crystalxoxox7691
      @crystalxoxox7691 5 років тому +4

      Evangeline Gulebian I’ve had my industrial pierced for 4.5 years and still have keloids. They’re not BAD but they’re there
      And I clean it regularly, I take the whole bar once a week and put it in boiling water and everything
      I also do a lot of things that cause them to stay put.
      Like wearing a gaming headset often, sleeping on it, my nieces hair gets caught on it often when she hugs me. And she freaks out when she pulls away and gets “stuck” so she pulls away harder
      Along with it being pierced through scar tissue may not help
      But as long as they’re taken care of and not getting out of hand, they’re really no issue (at least for me)

    • @XxCharlotteGuineaxX
      @XxCharlotteGuineaxX 4 роки тому +10

      Keloids arent caused by not cleaning, and what this girl had isn’t keloids. Keloids affect a very small amount of people and once you have them they never go away without surgery and will continue to grow and grow. What this girl has is hypertrophic scarring where her body has tried to heal the piercing but it’s probably experienced trauma (like being hit or slept on) which has stopped it healing properly. These will go away on their own over time 😌😌

    I definitely agree with the comments requesting a video of how to properly clean piercings. I got my nose pierced a year ago and about 2 months in it had a huge bump on the hole, granted I was not cleaning it properly, which I know now. I did everything the piercer told me to do except leaving it alone. I had to always be touching it and I feel like that's why it got so infected so fast. So I would LOVE to see a proper piercing cleaning video too!

    I got my industrial done a little over a year ago. I began to notice a small bump forming a month or two after. People were starting to point it out saying “oh my god it’s infected “ . It was in fact not an infection, it was just a baby keloid paying me a visit 😂 Anyways I began using tea tree oil and switched my jewelry from a bar over to two hoops. The keloid went away, it took so long but the waiting period has been worth it.
    Getting your industrial done is such a pain in the ass, it’s the one piercing I’ve had the most trouble with, it took a whole year to heal for me, for me to feel like I wouldn’t feel pain if I accidentally hit it. I have over 10 piercings, they have healed quick and with no issues. My cleaning process has always been a q tip or cotton ball and some water. I don’t add anything else, no soap or salt water.For me that has worked out and now I always keep Tea tree oil with me and I still apply it to my industrial in cases bump decides to show up.

    Mine was like that, and I got Saline and tea tree oil and now it’s gone and healed, I put saline on a cotton ball and put it in the microwave for 15 sec and then place it on my ear then when it cooled down did it again and then I dried that area and place the tea tree oil, it really works

      Yo should really reconsider getting it again! I have extremely sensitive skin and after trying to have an industrial on my ear, I just took it off (this was like 6 years ago) and I had my ear re pierced 3 months ago and it's almost 100% healed. I had a lot of bumps problems until I decided to try a soap my tattoo artist gave me and the bumps were gone whithin a week.

    Some people are allergic to certain metals. Like with me in the summer I get a rash around my belly button because of my jeans button so I have to take like clear finger nail polish and put over the inside of jean button let dry to create a barrier between my skin and the button. I can’t wear certain jewelry including earrings. I think it’s nickel I’m allergic to. My mom also is allergic to nickel. It’s a crazy itching sensations drives me nuts.

    I cleaned my industrial twice a day religiously and it still started to get bumps, but I started using tea tree oil on it and it got rid of them.

    I use to stick my lip piercing (after it healed) in alcohol and soak my lip in a solution and alcohol soaked cotton pad. I was paranoid af. 😂 I honestly would never let it get infected. It swelled a little but it went down eventually. I watch these videos all the time and i cringe a bit but thankful my lip never got this bad.

    I got an industrial almost 2 decade's ago I still have a circular scar. You can see how the two piercings don't line up straight. Mine was a one of a kind and went through my ear at an angle. These things need to line up perfect. Can't sleep on them and keep them clean. In my opinions one of the worst to get. I haven't seen many last. And like I said I still have a scar. I'll try the tee tree oil see if that helps.

    I have 7 piercings and only one did it but I learned that after you clean it you can crush up aspirin and make it into a paste, put on the spot it till the aspirin dries then wipe it off with a dry napkin and leave the residue on over night (do it for a week). It goes away over time but in my case it keeps showing up so I do the aspirin thing every day.

    Hey LuLu! Second comment on your videos and I can say that this was a pretty bad case for an industrial. Your videos helped me save my infected industrial and I'm on the road to recovery with healed keloids and no more infection! I think a good video idea for you to do would be proper cartilage piercing care, with industrials I've noticed that there is so much more to clean than just the ends and ins and I think some new cartilage jewelers may not know the crannies. Great content! : )

    I'm so glad that I didn't get keloids like that, my sister accidentally hit my ear twice just a week after I got my Industrial done and I never had a problem with it. I'm really lucky

My first forward helix didnt do this so I'm not sure what's going on? My lumps arwnt like the chicks in this video. It kinda looks like swelling?

    Yeah bumping and catching can do some damage... But not that badly. I've had earrings pulled out during healing and they recovered in a couple of days with nothing more than a longer healing time. Something else has to be up... Also shouldn't bleed that much removing it, a couple drops maybe...

    Proud to clean my piercings properly, never had any issue with any of mine. I have curly hair and use products that could affect my piercings, not only that but my curls catch onto it too. Nearly all the people who y’all’s helped been lying.
