Two LCI changes I forgot to mention in this video: 1. The blinker stalk is more traditional in design with other cars. It now holds itself in place, when using your turn signals and reverts back to original position after the wheel has turned or by manually flicking it. 2. The sound of the door open chime/gong was updated for all LCI models as well. Let me know if there’s anything else I missed!
Dude i appreciate the video mainly for the explanation but I’m not an m3/m4 owner so if you posted side-by-side photos of each of the differences, that would have been a huge benefit for the context of this video.
1. Another change is how the Rain sensing switch works 2. idrive 6 was available in the 2017 pre LCI models 3. All non Marino dashes have injection molded plastic. LCI models have faux stitching but the materials are the same 4. Most LCI models do not have a carbon fibre drive shaft
My moms M4 Comp is a 2016 so its one year before the LCI, but it does have the executive package so it has the adaptive led's and it's probably cause i'm just biased but I think the pre-lci adaptive led lights look better, however I do think the lci tail lights look wayyyy better than the pre-lci taillights. Anyone else agree with me 😂 It's also running iDrive4 but surprisingly doesn't look or feel outdated at all.
Very good video. Just got into looking at M4s as I'd like to upgrade from my Z4 35iS and your video is great for getting introduced to the model year differences
@@jaman2366 either lci builf date cutoffs are different where you live or you have a earliest build date. Mine is March 17 with icons but I don’t know the cutoff
@@SimplyCarThings we refer to model year and build date as the same thing here, although a car can be first registered years after its build date if no one buys it of course, which can cause confusion.
@Simply Car Things Ive always liked how your videos are so detail orientated however on this video you kinda missed something important. Bmw released another LCI update in somewhere in 2018 to the F8X M3/M4 models. Do some research on the LCI 2 models. Per my understanding, 2014 to 2016 pre - LCI. Then late 2016 to 2018 LCI update. Then late 2018 to 2020 LCI 2 update. Please confirm then maybe do another video. cheers thanks
I personally like the silver seat badges but it’s because I have black interior and they stand out more then if I had black, but I definitely need to updated headlights
I got a 2018 M4 which was built in September 2017 but it doesn't look like it has the updated lights. Is that common or was this a mistake on their part ?
The biggest thing ive noticed with these cars is that if you ever get one, def opt for full extended leather. After driving in one of my friends, I couldn’t stand not having it so I sold my white F82 comp on sakhir for a sakhir on full golden brown lci f82. A 80k+ car that has a plastic popcorn dash glovebox and door panels really started bothering me. Second hand they are still around the same $.
pre-lci has xenon as standard and adaptive led as optional lci has Led as standard but in the same housing as the xenon (often mistaken for being xenon) from the pre-lci. and adaptive led icon as optional
Hey. Do you know where i can purchase those icons for my M4 that’s reasonable. I have an F83 with executive package. And also how can I upgrade to IDrive 6
I ordered my car December 2016 and I didn’t take delivery until April 2017, hence the hold up was the LCI upgrades, I was so glad I waited!!! I believe April 2017 F82’s came with the carbon fibre prop shaft, later that year in September, a aluminium prop was fitted. Great video, your attention to detail is second to non!!! Ps I have the same thought regards the touch screen, it would have drove my OCD crazy with the finger prints, so glad it didn’t come standard!!
@@SimplyCarThings Yea, I wouldn't mind either. BTW I think they changed from magnesium pans because of the way some oils react with it can damage things. think i saw that on a reddit post so take it with a grain of salt lol

You missed one thing, the first LCI was in 2016, second was 2017/18. Icons I are plug and play for Icon 2 headlights. Research is the key mate.
I love how those headlights look whenever one pulls up behind me and I look in my rear view
Me too man, it gives the car a very menacing look!

i belive idrive 6 coincided with LCI, but yes agree with all your other points. cfrp drivehsaft was dropped circa early 2018

Thank you for adding this! Very useful info
Carbon fiber shaft is good tho.. is this pro or con?
@@davis7323 i think everything in carbon is good
24 mpg in an m4??
When I look for a F8X feel like going for a LCI would be your best bett.
For sure! if you plan on owning to keep i’d say so as well
Stooopid question…. What’s “LCI” mean?

First LCI was the 2016 model year, second LCI was in 2018

Bro, you missed a few things. One of the most glaring changes is the sound of the chime of the pre-LCI vs LCI.
Late 2018 build cars replace the rear fluid filled differential bushing with a Polyurethane part
Great video man, although the differences are small it’s interesting to see what changes were made
Thanks man! most definitely
You forgot the seat tickling holes and the white display on the climate control unit, used to be orange.
The white climate display was also implemented in Pre LCI cars, starting in the 2016 Model Year 👌🏼
Touch screen isn’t particularly useful unless you’re in CarPlay 90% of the time
You should have added pictures from pre lci
M4 tail lights had another LCI in 2019 to the shadowline ones, also the original LCI TLs were added in 17 (i had them on mine from factory).
I have a 17 m4 competition and it didnt come with the lci tails. I know the m3 come with the 18 lci tail lights in 2016

2017 M3 cars also had all of the LCI things you mention except the headlight and dash fake stitching. In 2018 they changed the headlights as well
mannn i cant wait to own one of these
These cars are insanely expensive in Canada. An LCI can easily go for $70-80k CAD / $50-65k USD
wow, that's nuts!
thanks mate
This has car play?

The chromatic finish is present on all 2016+ cars
Great vid Omar, makes me want to upgrade to LCI head/tail lights for my 16 M4 😂
Subbed this is @m3bdtf from IG 👊🏻
It’s funny how on my vehicle it shows a 5 series
I heard on the LCI cars there is no MPE?
Love the video quick question what song is that in your intro

i would look on the forums for the ikon LED's. Try bimmerpost, every now and then someone will be selling a set with the modules included
Nice ride how much you get the 18 for?
Do you still have the F02
There is also difference in ac climate control colors. On LCI there are two of them ;)
Great point!
