    Right on the valve stem.... straps scratch the finish of the rims as well as they’re all twisted up.

  • @angeldelacruz7254
    @angeldelacruz7254 3 роки тому +2

    This is the best and fastest way for me, just have to be careful not to damage the stem, but you can go up or down one hole and no problem and for those who claim it scratches the wheel, your probably not an operator, 99% of cars I transport ( rarely I do roadside) most of what I do is dealer and auction transport, have never scratched any wheels, have transported NEW no miles expensive or exotic cars, there is where I use 4 of my clean rags to put on the wheels just in case, but NEVER had any scratches, and here is a tip, some times you can't go thru the wheel, so just go in and out thru the rim holes...

      Those who claim the wheels can be scratched are completely correct, but that only happens when the wheels are aftermarket, or have been submitted to some kind of aftermarket paint. In those cases, you will definitely scratch the wheel, but those cases are easily identified.

    I prefer this method than any other one, don't like the 8 point half tire strap, or the half tire strap down vehicles rolls back and fort and never know...rather do the thru the rim way...

    What do u use if you can't go thru the rim not all vehicles u can go thru the rim

    • @angeldelacruz7254

      go in and out thru the spokes or you use the same hook you used for the end of the strap, and put in one of the many body holes on the vehicle

    • @jasonhuffmusic
      @jasonhuffmusic 3 роки тому +3

      If you can't go through the rim due to not big enough holes in rim, wrap the strap around the control arm or axle and hook the same way.

  • @Towerhand911
    @Towerhand911 4 роки тому +2

    I think they should be wrapped around the rim. Higher but look good
    Should be in a straight line to center of rim to keep the tires from rotating and causing slack

    • @Jason97377
      @Jason97377 3 роки тому +2

      Actually the position is correct straps should be at the 430 position on the tire any higher the tire could spin causing slack any lower same result however I’d like to see this redone with the bed up and the car being winched on as most cars don’t run that are being loaded

    • @angeldelacruz7254
      @angeldelacruz7254 3 роки тому

      tire will spin if you put strap higher and car will come loose

  • @Jason97377
    @Jason97377 3 роки тому +2

    Do it again from a bed up position with a non-running vehicle that has to be winched

    • @angeldelacruz7254

      is the same thing, you just don't put the bed down flat all the way while strapping, leave the car in Neutral, winch it up as far as you can or want, ( I bring bed back down some so that back part comes up and I don't have to bend over that much, and go ahead and strap all for corners regardless if it runs or not or if it even has wheels or not, plus now you also have the winch for extra security ( still need it to lower the vehicle back down.

    Very unprofessional. Almost each strap was put on with no protection to the rim paint. Next, try and make each strap flat and not twisted as in this video.

      comment by someone who has obviously learned & changed his method. Straps WILL damage a wheel

    • @tinystowingtinyunis2957
      @tinystowingtinyunis2957 Рік тому

      Straps won't damage a wheel if they're covered correctly. I cut the toes out of socks and use 2 socks per strap. If I'm cautious on a certain rim, I'll wrap a tshirt on it also. On flatbeds I use 4 to 8 straps per car. 2 per wheel and pulling foward and back on each wheel. In an enclosed trailer I use 2 straps per wheel and 8 straps per car. I've moved thousands of cars in 47 years and multiply it byb4 tires per car. Everyone has a method. Straps weren't designed to be twisted when installed. No need to over tighten all straps

    @darylsparks-sparksautomoti6066 3 роки тому +2

    poor choice for tie down! You'll end up owning a set of rims because those straps will marr the finish.. maybe not bad but enough to be seen & upset your customers

    • @redrustyhill2
      @redrustyhill2 Рік тому

      Its impossible to scratch a wheel with a nylon strap unless you the type of dummy that can get scratched by a wet noodle

    • @darylsparks-sparksautomoti6066
      @darylsparks-sparksautomoti6066 Рік тому

      @redrustyhill2 a strap is a foreign object & it can & will damage the finish on a wheel. Stop using that & save yourself a damage claim. Trying to insult me because I gave you sound advice just shows how incorrigible you are. Enjoy that lawsuit.. it's coming.

    So what happens when you have no rims? If you say "then you get one of your other straps that can be used then", I say why even bother getting these when your other straps will do the job and are more versatile.

    Should be clamping it down to the bed not trying to pull it into each corner

    They tied my car like this once, bent the rim lip and bent the steel cords in the tire. This is the worst way to strap a vehicle. I would not recommend you do this.

    • @kells18
      @kells18 3 роки тому +2

      I can understand the rim, but how the cord. Also was they using chains.

    • @Jason97377
      @Jason97377 3 роки тому +8

      Yeah I agree there’s no pressure on the tire with this style of strapping and I highly doubt that it bent the rim lip, it was probably already and existing damage that you didn’t notice but looked for damage after it was towed and then blamed them for something they most likely did even do
