It took me 1365 random encounters (~5 days) to find a shiny Patrat in Black 2, the only problem was that Patrat wasn't my target. My target was Sewaddle. Flashforward 7600 more encounters and I still haven't found it.
My hardest shiny hunt completed was Miltank in Sword, took me more than 2000 encounters (including shiny charm and 500 ko's) to find I was so relieved afterwards haha
I believe you! With all the optimization that’s been discovered in the past couple years, I’ve been seeing more and more people find it! Definitely a shiny I want to go for one day!

Congratulations man I am very happy for you to get such an amazing shiny on what I consider one of the best games in the series. I loved colosseum and XD and I use to play those all the time. You have some really good shiny hunts under your belt and I look forward to seeing what you get next
@ThedomiNATION thanks man, I'm hoping it finally shines soon cuz it was supposed to be for an all shiny team. I completed an all shiny run of OR faster than getting the single shiny froakie
Well, due to hunting in games with the shiny charm and ways to increase the odds I haven’t had any super egregious hunts thus far but a marked shiny Fletchinder with 11 phases did take me a while. A marked shiny Dragapult hunt only had 4 phases but I had neither the shiny charm nor a lot of herba mystica on my Violet copy so that was quite the wait as well.
@@ThedomiNATION I love to draw, but I don’t have a lot of experience with digital art. Can I ask what program you use & what device it is that you draw on? Also, congrats on trapinch!!

I can feel your pain with this hunt since it took me a while to get Haruko(Hoppip) in the Oasis Poke Spot. Although the hardest one for me would be either be Centauros(Dratini)/Ghotis(8 Goldeen and 2 Seaking) from the LeafGreen Safari Zone at 58670+ Fishing encounters, Dialga from Sinjoh Ruins at 4000 resets, or currently the Roaming Latias from Heartgold at 3000+ resets so far.
Always awesome to see someone get a shiny from the Gamecube games! Congrats on your Trapinch what a crazy find!! Also my hardest (ongoing) hunt probably is the Violet city Slugma from Primo in HGSS. With my current set up a reset takes 10 minutes (pre badge 1).
@@ThedomiNATION Yeah I believe that, it's really niche, only found one french website saying that it's huntable and one spanish video of a guy RNGing one. And thank you!!

Congratulations on the awesome shiny! Looks wicked in XD, the green makes it look like a bug. My hardest shiny hunt was Dusclops in Diamond. The PokeRadar didn't make anything easier, must've had 100 rounds.
This is probably a crazy story. I got a shiny wooper in XD. Which is the rarest spawn from that Poke Spot. I wasn’t even hunting for it. I was just trying to finish up my childhood playthrough of XD.
My longest, most tedious hunt so far has been for Cyndaquil, in Crystal on the 3DS' VC. Thing took 13,285 resets before I found it. About 40-50 of those minimum were premature resets and a handful were resets where I didn't even remember to check if it was Shiny before resetting. All cause I just zoned out so hard in the repetitive cycle of seeing if it had the right gender, then if it had the right HP, then checking, and resetting if any of the three were wrong.
@@ThedomiNATION It really was, especially considering having to learn how Shiny Pokemon even generated in Gen 2 and what to look for. I do wish they kept the shiny colors for the Cynadquil line from Gen 2 as well. BUT I realized a bit after that they actually just swapped them! Mostly. They made the colors of the body swap, so gen 2's standard colors are now the shiny, while Gen 2's shiny colors are now the standard. Helps me appreciate the current shiny appearance more now. Grats on the Trapinch, btw, it's an awesome shade of green in XD.
I was about to click off thinking nothing could be harder than low encounter rate re's or sr for a shiny legendary, then I saw the cursed black lugia and immediately realized the insanity I was about to witness...
What was the rarest for me to hunt was a 5% Hydreigon in Pokemon XY which was 2 and half years ago. It took me 4 months to hunt nonstop. It was over 32k resets (37 phases) with three 3DS
At over 6000 eggs, shiny chikorita in soul silver drove me nearly over the edge. All it took was hatching a different shiny and then it shined in 98 eggs) And at over 1000 eggs in white, Druddigon is starting to get on my nerves.
In relation to what is a shiny lock, aren't the Shadow Pokemon meant to be like traded Pokemon except you just take them, and then they have your OT? Traded Pokemon after gen 1 except in Let's Go have set IVs ect, meaning traded pokem are pretty useful. At least whenever they decided to have them have perfect IVs
I’m actually unsure what about them is set tbh. But to me, I see them as just trainers Pokémon that you can catch. So it was a crazy oversight that they rerolled the shiny value once you caught them as opposed to intentionally shiny locking them in XD
@@Mimiyan_or_Pikapikafan yeah! Obviously there’s no clear cut correct answer but I see shiny locking as taking a Pokémon you can encounter normally and making it so it can never be shiny. Weird ones like the manaphy egg and the shadow shinies feel like they weren’t programmed the same way
is the manaphy egg not shiny locked on the original trainer who received the egg in gen 4? being properly programmed for the shadows to not shine sounds like a design choice from the devs to actively not give you the option to shiny hunt a pokemon you re allowed to collect, therefore a shiny lock
The shadow Pokémon are trainers Pokémon. In colosseum it was an oversight that allowed shadow Pokémon to get rerolled as different Pokémon upon catching them. It simply got fixed. As I stated in the video, if you call it a shiny lock, then you may as well say shiny locking started in gen 2 because all trainers Pokémon are “locked”. As for the manaphy, I think it’s a similar case. It’s a simple event pokemon that’s supposed to be predetermined a certain way but didn’t take into account the way shinies are generated from eggs which can allow it to be shiny on separate save files. The reason it can’t be shiny on the main save is because that’s the save where it gets generated. That one is a little more up in the air though on whether it was an actual intended shiny lock or just the way the event was distributed. Because again you could just say “all of these event Pokémon are shiny locked” like all the other event distribution Pokémon that aren’t shiny. But then what does that make the event Pokémon that are always shiny? 🤔
What's the hardest shiny hunt you have ever completed?
