Honestly, for gaming there is no need to set a thermal limit. Just undervolt it as much as you can, make sure it is stable (it will hit 95c, it's a form of torture test) and start playing games. While playing games the temperature will be much lower than in synthetic workloads, and you will have the best performance. If you're running a 7950x it's likely that you got a high-end GPU as well, and gaming in high resolution where you will be GPU-bound anyway. If you're an esport player with a 1080p 360hz+ monitor things might be different, because you rely more on the CPU. But for 4K 144hz temps will stay way under 95c in all games I've tried.

Hey there, which one the various presets are you encountering troubles with? Today a new R7 7700X Undervolt video will be released on the channel so you might wanna check that one out, I’ll have one with an MSI motherboard coming soon too!
-20 won't refuce your temperature for a anything over 8 cores. It will lower the voltage correct. Which will increase the mhz to its stock speeds for a longer period so will use the same wattage or more. And temps will be the same but with a higher frequency.
It will also generally reduce the temperature, but yes the end goal with the -20 is to get more performance. If you want just lower temps, do the static option :)
That’s a very good question! Each “point” means an offset that varies between 3mV and 5mV depending on the point on the curve. So -20 would mean -20*(3mV/5mV), which means anywhere from -60mV to -100mV!
Ok, with CO -20 it’s works, but one month ago it was going to blue screen. Why? Dunno. But now it goes, well, I will try with -30 now. Thanks. I have ASUS x670e proart, why it goes to blue screen before? Xyi znaet, but now it works. Upd: Ok, I have worked with -25 CO and 75c, will try with 80c, but it already have bigger scores that stock in cinebench. 30 is blue screen UPD: get -30 work with disabled C-states. Guys, If you want best results you need to disable it. UPD: get -35 by disable df and c states, add ppt as 210, tdc 145, edc 205, +200 override max clock mhz for boost. I get 38078 on cinebench 23 with 85c using silent loop 2, llc- level 5 and 85c limit temp.
Thanks a lot for reporting back with the testing! When testing stability on the new Ryzen, also double check that your EXPO is working, as very often that’s the problem. I definitely agree that disabling C-States help with stability! Thanks a lot for pointing it out!
Thanks for the video. Just wanted to say you should try Nvidia Voice / Broadcast, as it would help a lot for the echoing happening in the beginning of the video as well as the noise. The microphone levels weren't even between cuts and you were clipping a lot in the second half :(

This was incredibly Helpful thank you. I couldn't Understand why my CPU was Killing itself at 70-85 degrees when im doing almost *nothing*. Even Putting the CPU Under 50% Load put the CPU in the danger zone of 90-100C And had a few hard Shut offs. This was a relief, as I went from a Ryzen 7 5800x to this and couldn't understand why my Cooler Struggled SO HARD to keep up.*Its not a wimpy Cooler either* Its baffling why AMD would put so much power and voltage into the CPU and risk burning the thing out when you can sacrifice a tiny bit and Chug WAY less power and have it run way cooler. Thank you so much!
Hey man! I can't assist everyone one-on-one but I do have many videos regarding the 5000 series of Ryzen and how to undervolt them, here on the channel. The procedure is different from the 7000 series!
To be completely fair, if budget isn’t a problem I do think the 13900K is a better CPU overall. But if you’re talking 24/7 rendering, you should have a better efficiency with AMD! If power consumption isn’t an issue either, then I’d say get the 13900K!
"This one will drop 80 watts from your CPU". Really? Are you limiting max MHZ or something? You seem rushed towards the end of the video. Difficult to understand for me. Thanks
Very nice quick tutorial and at point. I have one question because i do a lot of rendering so it is in the productivity category i guess 🙂 My 7950x on max load is doing 94-95c on 5.15-5.2ghz and i don't mind that temperature because i change CPU on every 2y. So my question is can i use your method to increase Ghz per core and keep the same Temps, i mean with curve optimizer only or i need more advanced tweaks for that to achieve? My goal is to have 5.3-5.4ghz on load with temperature which is around 94c? Thanks in advance and keep the good work! 😉
Hey there, first of all thanks a lot! Yes you can use the curve to push it a bit higher clock wise, you could do it either with the curve method or simply with the static method by setting a higher core ratio and higher voltage. First of all set the temp limit to 95C, then play around with it and see how much you can push it :)
Hello my good sir, I'm having a persistent problem with my PC. It is that it keeps randomly rebooting out of the blue. Nothing on startup, just a straight up clean reboot. Sometimes 3 days between, sometimes 5 minutes and it reboots again. All my temps are good, I keep monitoring them with HWinfo. I also tried some of the fixes on reddit. It worked before when I was still in Windows 10 so I thought the issue is resolved, but after I updated to Windows 11, the problem came back. I really don't know what to do at this point so if anyone can help me, I would appreciate that a whole lot. Thank you so much! I also have to add that I started to notice the issue after I enabled PBO (when I was still on Windows10) , so I reverted it to default settings but the problem remained. How do you think should I update, go through all the versions or go straight to the latest one?
Here's what I'd recommend you do (in order) -Update your bios to the latest version -Do a fresh Windows 11 install -Follow my R5 5600X Undervolting tutorial, set it to 4GHz with 1.025V as shown in the tutorial -Follow the RTX 3060 Ti Undervolting tutorial too, set it at a conservative 900mV 1800Mhz with no mem offset This will get rid of your possible OS problems, fix any platform instability and reduce the power consumption/thermal output of the system, so it should fix any problem that's not directly coming from faulty hardware!
I also had that happening about a year ago, turned out it was literally one faulty sector in my 16gb of ram, and if ended up being used, the pc would just reboot. This could happen 4 times a day or once a month, completely random. Run memtests to ensure it's not your ram.

Negative -20 on all cores on pbo and you done .........if your best core support -20 lol :D:D , cause if not you are just introduce yourself instability into your system:D I like that at least say only -20 and not -30 from the beginning like others. Cause in some cases and in some of the sample they are all ready tuned by amd with best voltage for the best core;) and in those cases the best core support very little negative voltage on the ''all ready tunned by amd best core'' ;) - I just see on reedit about 4 posts about sharing experience with pbo on new ryzen 7800x3d and a lot of peoples saying put -30 and call it stable and you done, but after other users ask them if they test them for 24 hours of prime64 or aida64 sha3 bech some of them they come back and report they are getting error on prime or crashes:D - Also i see other 2 peoples saying them best core support only -5 to -10. - Is the same with my 7800X3D to ! Even i can also do -30 on all cores and i get stable cinebench r23 result, and i get all core boost to 5050 Mhz in multi, (in single core it's still the same 5050Mhz that i was hitting with stock settings to), also i get stable boosting, also i get sable safe browse net to and even i get stable in my 2-3 favorite games, ....but.......... after i read that posts on reedit i start testing and discover that after 1 -2 hours of prime 95 the cpu cores start spiting errors on prime 95 and aida sha3 benchmark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - So i decide i will do not keep my cpu with errors reported on prime95 and call it stable like others! and so i have to dial back the best core to -7 !, the other 3 cores to -15/-21/-21, and only the 4 worse cores to -30 to -32!! and only after that my prime 95 report 0 error after 5 hours of testing!!! - But...surprising the difference between -30 and stock is not such a big deal at all in the case of 7800x3d!! lol ( i guess is not even worth the 2-3 day spend it on tuning pbo with prime64 aida 64, y cruncher) , cause i believe this chip being mostly for gaming do not benefit for increase of more higher single clock while using curve -30, like in cases of others ryzen 7000 non X3D cause the speed of single cores still do not surpass the max speed of 5050Mhz (in the case of non x3d is other story cause they can boost higher the single clock frequency with pbo so u have gain there) - My stock 7800x3d was getting 18466 in in cinebench r23, all cores boosting to 4825 Mhz in multi cores, ....and any of the single core hit 5050 Mhz in hwinfo while browse net or youtube. - Mabe my chip was allready tunned by amd from default with best volttage;) !! - And with -30 on all cores i can hit 18836 points(all core boosting to 5050 Mhz in multi vs 4825 Mhz stock in multi,...so 18466 points stock vs 18836 points with -30.... so no such such a big deal ...just a little few points lol:D - Temperature not such a big deal also to....., on stock 76 C on cinebench r23 multi, and with all cores at - 30 it's hit 79- 80 C cause is boost all cores at 5050 Mhz while on stock all cores boosting at 4825 Mhz, and on prime 95 i get same ~ temp 52-62 C with -30 curve or with stock to!( all core boosting to 4675 -4700Mhz) , and at idle is -2 -4 C less , and in game -2-4C less to, still not such a big difference, oh yes and my aio is 360 in push pull configuration.
Thanks a lot for the detailed report! I think what you’re writing about really applied to the X3D chips, which tend to have the CCD with the 3D vCache on top of it be MUCH more sensitive to voltage. -20 will work on 99% of non-X3D chips out there, the 1% might have to tune it back to -15. I will also do a specific X3D oriented tutorial, but have already discovered that you need to do per-core tuning!

Again lower voltage manual and increases frequency wil just boot higher frequencies for longer but the temps will get to the same
Not sure what the logic behind this is, because using these exact instructions dropped my idle temps on my 7950x3d by literally 10c
It will also generally reduce the temperature, but yes the end goal with the -20 is to get more performance. If you want just lower temps, do the static option :)
what is minus -20 ?? Is it 20 Milivolts?? Or 200 Milivolts ??
That’s a very good question! Each “point” means an offset that varies between 3mV and 5mV depending on the point on the curve. So -20 would mean -20*(3mV/5mV), which means anywhere from -60mV to -100mV!
@@ImWateringPSUs Wow thats to complicated with this curve, its easier on Intel side
30 is blue screen
UPD: get -30 work with disabled C-states.
The microphone levels weren't even between cuts and you were clipping a lot in the second half :(
Glad you liked the video, I'll definiteely check out Nvidia Voice thankyou!
so wait can i just choose the preset then i have same bios as you instead of doing all that?
Yes, but only if you subscribe to the channel
Are these settings right for the Gigabyte B650M motherboard?
Yes! But only if you subscribe to the channel :)
thanks for this video, btw, can you suggest which mobo to get for 7950x, (im scared of anything Asus, like lately am5 Asus mobos getting blue screens of death and bad bios destroying cpu and ram ) im stuck between Asus Proart x670e and Asrock Taichi x670e , for 3d , game design, and rendering
I'm glad I could help! Personally, I'd get the Taichi. Great board all around and better value, you're not losing anything compared to the Proart!
Hi. I've done that but my PC restarded twice in a matter of 3 hours maybe. I am using AIO cooling and I didn't see my CPU crossing 50 degrees. I used your numbers, when with the Curve to be 20 and Theraml Throttling 75. Any advice? I am using MB TUF Gaming X670E-PLUS Wifi one with CPU 7950X3D.
Set the curve to 10 or 15 and you should be good :) But it only works if you subscribe
Why when I installed Ryzen Master on my Legion 7 pro amd 7000 it said that not supporting this processor?
They have yet to add it! Try the BIOS or AATU
So I did the static core volt change and set it to 1.2V, but my ryzen master still says 1.39-1.45V, I had to go to creator page and manually set the volt to 1.25 and that seemed to work. But why did it not work in bios?
That's weird, did you update your BIOS to the latest version?
Hi bro thanks for the video .. When I use -20 curve I am getting bsod loop the next day morning when i start pc .. is this because I hit silicon lottery very bad ??
and also few of my usb ports not working when I undervolting why is this happening ? any idea plzz help
Subbed! Testing all of this now, I'll post my results after for those interested.
Thanks a lot for the support my man :)
seems undervolt is the new norm you would think like msi would have a easy button
And what happens with the value of PPT is not touched?
I’d recommend you follow all the steps shown😅
nice guide, TY!
I was wondering why i didnt have the options as in this video but i needed to update my bios, they were still very first ones from when socket am5 was new
ALL PBO crash my system and i need to remove the battery and start over. The static setting run fine so now and i was able to drop temp. my system ran at 80 C on idle and was very noisy. Asrock X370 Pro GT with AMD 7950x, MSI 360 mag v2 LQ ( which is a noisy crap ) i'm thinking of replacing it with Noctua DH15. any toughts ?
Oh wow, sorry to hear that! Even -10
PBO with a temperature setting of 80/85C still crashes on you? Regarding the cooler, I actually have a dedicated video about running the 7950X on air and I was using a Xilence M906, I think it’s definitely worth it in terms of both noise & price!

Thank you!!!!
Any chance you would be able to assist me with undervolting my 5800x? I just cant seem to get a decent undervolt :(
Hey man! I can't assist everyone one-on-one but I do have many videos regarding the 5000 series of Ryzen and how to undervolt them, here on the channel. The procedure is different from the 7000 series!
4:03 there goes the spit on the monitor :D :D :D
p.s. thanks for the tutorial!
You got me😂😂😂
are these applicable for 7950x3d?
The X3D chips are generally locked, but if you manage to apply the curve with certain bioses, then YES!
Yes, it can be undevolt with CO
i put -20 and 75c max but for some reason my pc instantly restart after couple of minutes.
Try -10 75C :) And subscribe to the channel
Would you still go with 7950x over 13900k for constant rendering 24/7?
To be completely fair, if budget isn’t a problem I do think the 13900K is a better CPU overall. But if you’re talking 24/7 rendering, you should have a better efficiency with AMD! If power consumption isn’t an issue either, then I’d say get the 13900K!
I reset my locked bios on a prebuilt buy power pc and since then my cpu temps keep climbing until they hit 112 and shit off
I think there might be a mounting issue with the cooler tbh
"This one will drop 80 watts from your CPU". Really? Are you limiting max MHZ or something? You seem rushed towards the end of the video. Difficult to understand for me. Thanks
Dont see those settings in my 7950x asus prime x670e-pro
I’d say cross reference with my other CPU Undervolting tutorials (I have a playlist) so you can get the naming right!
Very nice quick tutorial and at point.
I have one question because i do a lot of rendering so it is in the productivity category i guess 🙂
My 7950x on max load is doing 94-95c on 5.15-5.2ghz and i don't mind that temperature because i change CPU on every 2y.
Ryzen 5 5600x
Colorful RTX 3060TI
ASRock B550M HDV
Team Elite 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL22
Kingston PCIE4 500GB M.2 NVME SSD
CoolerMaster 750W 80+ Bronze Non-Modular
EDIT: I also noticed I am several versions behind on the BIOS (I'm on 2.10 while the latest is 2.62). How do you think should I update, go through all the versions or go straight to the latest one?
Maybe just cleanly reinstall windows, but it's hard to distant-diagnose this. Seems like your Windows is the problem though obviously
Here's what I'd recommend you do (in order)
-Update your bios to the latest version
-Do a fresh Windows 11 install
-Follow my R5 5600X Undervolting tutorial, set it to 4GHz with 1.025V as shown in the tutorial
-Follow the RTX 3060 Ti Undervolting tutorial too, set it at a conservative 900mV 1800Mhz with no mem offset
This will get rid of your possible OS problems, fix any platform instability and reduce the power consumption/thermal output of the system, so it should fix any problem that's not directly coming from faulty hardware!
I also had that happening about a year ago, turned out it was literally one faulty sector in my 16gb of ram, and if ended up being used, the pc would just reboot. This could happen 4 times a day or once a month, completely random. Run memtests to ensure it's not your ram.
Now my pc is not working is lagging hard I reset all the stuff thanks
Blue screen on 7950x with 20 and 80 degrees, now call for a repair lol what is this
help me with 7950x3d please
Same settings! :)
I used 85c in pbo helped performance 31000 to 33000

Merci sa m'a vraiment aidé ❤
Glad I could help :)
The problem with that setting is your running 240 watts at the outlet..
Which one? They do DRAMATICALLY drop power consumption, test them out!
@@ImWateringPSUs I run 10 7950x miners. 1.200 v 4700mhz is 240 at the wall wattage. 0.995 v 4300 mhz gives me 160 watt at wall.. I lose alittle h/s rate with lower setting.
@@ImWateringPSUs Forgot to tell you I don't run no GPU so with that you will for sure be over 300 at wall wattage. Also my temp is 58c with lower setting and 75c with higher.
I reach 365watt at 1.31v 5.3ghz all core 😂 too much
@@_xewo_9856 wow what is temp 95
Did it with Ryzen 7 5700x

@@ImWateringPSUswait it made my temps high lol
Negative -20 on all cores on pbo and you done .........if your best core support -20 lol :D:D , cause if not you are just introduce yourself instability into your system:D
I like that at least say only -20 and not -30 from the beginning like others.
Cause in some cases and in some of the sample they are all ready tuned by amd with best voltage for the best core;) and in those cases the best core support very little negative voltage on the ''all ready tunned by amd best core'' ;)
- I just see on reedit about 4 posts about sharing experience with pbo on new ryzen 7800x3d and a lot of peoples saying put -30 and call it stable and you done, but after other users ask them if they test them for 24 hours of prime64 or aida64 sha3 bech some of them they come back and report they are getting error on prime or crashes:D
- Also i see other 2 peoples saying them best core support only -5 to -10.
- But...surprising the difference between -30 and stock is not such a big deal at all in the case of 7800x3d!! lol
( i guess is not even worth the 2-3 day spend it on tuning pbo with prime64 aida 64, y cruncher) , cause i believe this chip being mostly for gaming do not benefit for increase of more higher single clock while using curve -30, like in cases of others ryzen 7000 non X3D cause the speed of single cores still do not surpass the max speed of 5050Mhz
(in the case of non x3d is other story cause they can boost higher the single clock frequency with pbo so u have gain there)
- My stock 7800x3d was getting 18466 in in cinebench r23, all cores boosting to 4825 Mhz in multi cores, ....and any of the single core hit 5050 Mhz in hwinfo while browse net or youtube.
- Mabe my chip was allready tunned by amd from default with best volttage;) !!
- And with -30 on all cores i can hit 18836 points(all core boosting to 5050 Mhz in multi vs 4825 Mhz stock in multi,...so 18466 points stock vs 18836 points with -30.... so no such such a big deal ...just a little few points lol:D
- Temperature not such a big deal also to....., on stock 76 C on cinebench r23 multi, and with all cores at - 30 it's hit 79- 80 C cause is boost all cores at 5050 Mhz while on stock all cores boosting at 4825 Mhz, and on prime 95 i get same ~ temp 52-62 C with -30 curve or with stock to!( all core boosting to 4675 -4700Mhz) , and at idle is -2 -4 C less , and in game -2-4C less to, still not such a big difference, oh yes and my aio is 360 in push pull configuration.
Have an older b450 asrock that iI smacked a 5900x into it
