The Culdees were an ancient race of men who came from Ireland to spread the Christian gospel.
They had their own traditions and resisted the takeover by the Romish church until they were banished from obscurity around the 13th century.

Nice video but not even close to the first Christians in Britain. Christianity was brought by the Romans and exported to Ireland via Wales before Columba introduced it back to Iona hundreds of years later

Culdees are a C9th AD monastic community associated with Iona. They were certainly not the first Christians in Britain, a claim which is historically wrong and complete tosh.

Years ago I saw records in Worcester Cathedral library that showed that a culdee priest and his wife had residence there. I don't remember the timeframe. But, I remember being surprised that priests could be married, and living in quarters within the cathedral grounds.
