I am 59 years old and for the 1st time in nearly 40 years I am finally so overwhelmingly hungry to study what took place after the apostles went to heaven. Now I can finally discover exactly how living simply in my faith based on the truth really benefits my life and how it will allow me to share truth with the common man. I spent an entire generation deeply steeped in the Southern Baptist ways and the starch has slowly been washed out out of my mind and heart but not without great pain and suffering. Not only am I born again but my mind is being transformed and it feels wonderful to finally understand the truth of God's word the way it was originally intended. I will indeed continue to watch for all of your videos so God-bless you and keep up this good work for truth!

@@1963wheelerTouched by your testimony. I am from Southern India where the legend is that St Thomas the Apostle came here to evangelize the Jews who were already living here as a part of the diaspora. He established 7 churches here by converting the high class hindu Brahmin families etc etc. In the 7 & 8th centuries Syrian orthodox bishops came here and the church grew bigger . No gospel !only Syriac chanting and Mary worship . that was the Christianity here. I believe the Thomas legend is the gnostic Thomas who is supposed to have come to India. First time the christians here who were under the Syrian orthodox patriarchate heard the Gospel was when British missionaries came here and translated Bible into local language. There was a reformation after understanding the Gospel . The reformed faction is known as Mar thoma Church after the name st Thomas. Not long after a methodist missionary came Dr E. Stanley Jones. He spoke in our annual convention for 50 years continuously. He integrated hinduism into our church . The leaders have become hindus . Evangelism is suppressed. Church is become Ecumenical. A slow take over by the enemy. Thousands of people left . Wherever there is true Church satan sends his envoy and destroys it.

I am a bodisattava incarnated at this time in service to our Brother Yeshua. Due to many negative influences upon the Roma church of Constantine I would greatly suggest that you begin with " The Impersonal Life" by Joseph Benner and learn to unfold the LIGHT within YOUR TRUTH. It was stated long ago that this time the world is passing through will pass away because it is of a low vibration of materialism. Yeshua has been well aware of my presence during this incarnation and even introduced me to a wonderful woman who was my wife of 30 years. He told me of her early departure at that time which has come to pass from ovarian Cancer. No struggle/no pain just the right time. The SUPREME EVOLUTIONARY CREATOR sends forth Fractal of LIVING LIGHT ENERGY impersonally and unconditionally into creation We the creator children in training are to SEEK this LIVING LIGHT through shining and expanding the LIGHT WITHIN extending freely throughout all of Creation Cosmic Law dictates like DRAWS to it self LIKE. The LIGHT IS CENTERED within YOU and it is eternal. I AM a CHRIST baptized in the FIRE of SPIRIT and offer freely to you these GIFTS which were bestowed freely upon me from SOURCE. It is a REQUIREMENT within a free will universe to ACCEPT and then EMBODY that which is offered ; they cannot simply be bestowed without your consent. If you choose to accept and embody the LOVE ENERGY feel and see it flow through your EMOTIONAL BODY, SPIRITUAL BODY, PHYSICAL BODY, attached to a trust of an innocent child fully TRUSTING her mother while in the WOMB>>>>>> prior to being born completely whole and perfect. Did you know, Cleopatra, the Ptolemys were of Greek descent and looked like Greeks and nothing like the Ethiopians.
The Hebrew language was never completely dead.
The name "Jesus" has existed since the 17th century, and God never revealed this name. Jesus (gee-sus) comes from Iesus (ee-sus, this name is found in the KJV of 1611), and Iesus comes from Iesous (ee-sous). Iesous is a transliteration of the Aramaic name Yeshua. Now consider the testimony of the apostle Peter, "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). What does this mean? This means that the names of Jesus, Iesus, and Iesous were never revealed by God, but come to us by the tongue of mankind, and therefore, these names, Jesus, Iesus, and Iesous are counterfeit names never revealed by God. Once again, mankind makes void the revelation of God for their traditions.
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders...?”
He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:
‘This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men..." He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition" (Mark 7:5-9).
God revealed the name of salvation, but mankind rejected the revealed name, YAHSHUA, for names not revealed but produced by the tongue of man.
Jews are a white ruddy people (Lamentations 4:7; 1 Samuel 16:12; Song of Solomon 5:10).
Ham is the progenitor of the Dark Race (Zondervan Dictionary, 1967).
Esau married women of the Hittites, who are the descendants of Ham, and therefore, Esau had black kids (Genesis 26:34).

You see a similar shift as you see in Judaism! First, it is "Offer your body a living sacrifice"....then it became His Body and Blood as a cacrifice!! So of course you must have an Altar, A Priest, a Temple...
And in Psalms, where sacrifice is Praise..and in Malachi, where "Incense offered continually among Gentiles"...compare to the Incense in Psalms (somewhere around Ps40-42?)
We must be vigilante, mankind seems to want (the Priest to do it all, "just let me live my life"!!?) It is easy to sing songs of "worship", vs Offer Your Body a Living Sacrifice! Look up the original word translated (almost always) as WORSHIP!

However, I do not subscribe to Post-Nicene "new" doctrines which the Pre-Nicene fathers were explicitly and adamantly against, e.g., icons, images and prayers with the dead or for the dead, veneration of theotokos, etc. Hence, I am very Ante-Nicene and primarily Wesleyan. But I do believe we have true brothers in these other denominations.

@Read Father Seraphim Rose Thank you Father Rose, I have the complete set by Philip Schaff of the ante-Nicene, Nicen and post-Nicen Fathers. I do get material from John Chrysostom. However, I aim to digest the ante-Nicene writings first before I get into the others. I know Wesleyans read the Cappadocian "fathers" but, like I said, pre-Nicene first. The more famous ante-Nicene bishops did quite clearly condemn images and icons for whatever reason. 2 Esdras 7 of the Clemetine Apocrypha seems to confirm Luke 16 where the rich man in Hades could not talk with Lazarus in paradise, neither can anyone living talk to departed believers.

However, it is more logical for me to think that post-Nicene teachings are the ones that contain distortions of the "original" ante- Nicene Apostolic teachings, not the other way around. I would put more weight on the generations close to the Apostles teaching rather than centuries after introducing the distortions of time. language and context to the interpretations and succeeding doctrinal "inventions"

The Didache does allow for pouring if need be and baptism is probably the easiest of all commands we were given so I can't imagine why people wouldn't do it.
The Didache isn't scripture, but it does show what very early Christians seemed to believe. Since I already felt the Bible was pretty strong on baptism I have no issue with seeing that it was considered essential. Jesus said "why do you call me Lord but do not do what I commanded?"

I’m 43 and hot for the Lord!
Grew up Catholic , lukewarm, focussing on God and no relationship with Jesus.
Started reading the Bible five years ago . do not consider myself Catholic, but after spending time in various denominations and consuming so much content, I have finally arrived here looking at the church, fathers and apologists.
Really intrigued with orthodoxy also, please pray for me offer encouragement .
Plan on doing a podcast channel myself I just want to share the truth with family and friends and hope they tune into my channel and are encouraged .
God bless everyone in the name of the f Father Son and Holy Spirit

I have a lot of respect for Orthodoxy. I will pray for you today. If God leads you there, may it be a blessing for you. As you are on this journey, I highly recommend looking into other groups that may also be where God leads you. For example, besides Orthodoxy, there are two other groups that I have a lot of respect for. They are the Anabaptist churches and the Restoration Movement churches.
More than anything, may God bless your journey!!! God bless you!

Don't you think it is quite clear what the scripture teaches on that?
For example start by reading what the apostles said was the ONLY laws required by non Jews to follow.
Then look at the patterns laid down by Paul and the apostles in all the letters.
Then notice that in every occasion they gathered on the first day of the week to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
Also note how the book of Hebrews demonstrates that the Sabbath like many other old testament feasts were there to point us to Christ.

    • @Blessed_by_Yeshua
      @Blessed_by_Yeshua 11 місяців тому +3

The Sabbath is something Jesus/Yeshua adhered to-traditionally passed down from the Beginning. A day of rest, and a day to reflect on the phenomenal works of our Creator, YHWH. I like that you see the first day of the week as Resurrection Day, and a celebration thereof.
I believe many Christians whose eyes are beginning to really open don’t want to celebrate “Sunday” as the day of dedication to and worship of our Father since Constantine was a pagan and Constantine gave early Christians one day to worship and he wanted the day they worshipped to be when they (the pagans) worshipped their sun god.
I can see how Christians don’t want to worship on Sun(god)day.
But when put in proper context, it would be better if we didn’t call it Sunday worship, but Resurrection Day worship.

    • @blackbear1958

I would contend that that scriptures were compiled and authorized by the Apostles, specifically Peter before the death of the Apostles.. They alone were ordained by Jesus and under the Spirits inspiration while they were alive. No other generation of Church Fathers had that personal witness, of Christ and His Resurrection, and the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit reminding them of what they saw and learned.
God did use the Church to preserve the scriptures but it is not the post Apostolic Church that had the authority to declare what was New Testament scripture and what wasn’t.

Constantine introduced no ideas. He grew up separated from his Christian mother. She was perfectly orthodox and had been held under years of house arrest for JESUS. When Constantine freed Christians of the Roman empire from legalized persecution, he was informed of things of which he was ignorant in part by his own mother. All those Bishops at the Council of Nicea merely confirmed all that they had always previously suffered to preserve.
Paphnutios the Bishop of the Upper Thebaid of Upper Egypt had an eye missing from the great persecution. Many Bishops were mamed. A Bishop of Armenia had had all sorts of appendages removed from his face and body, and Constantine wept to see him. These weren't compromisers. Most today are inferior to those at the Nicene Council.

This might be a great channel for me, and it looks like you have not only a huge backlog but are still making videos. I grew up without much of a church tradition other than bible school every summer and a few Sunday schools with my Grandma, maybe 2 or 3 a year. I have no close friends nor family with any church tradition, though some are Christian. Oddly, I have never been atheist just a little lost Christian.
I have been looking for a church the last year or so, and reading the bible, cover to cover, as well as listening to sermons from several denominations, though, so far, they often fall short of my reading, and yet they often enhance my understanding as well. Hopefully, adding this into the mix way, give me the extra biblical accounts that can help me see deeper, with out the tarnish I see from later figures that the churches, that I look into, seem to embrace. If one is right, these older accounts should align with the later churches more and bridge the gap.
Somehow, I am really comfortable reading the scripture, it's just the modern churches I worry about, they often seem to add to the text, things I do not see with in the bible from people who lived 1000 or more years after Christ, and I have yet to find one that feels holy, like when I sit for and hour or so reading the bible myself.

Thank you for the beautiful comment. I am thrilled to hear about how you have read, studied, and come to know your Bible so well. Because you can see truth here or there--as well as false things here or there--, you probably know more about the Bible, God, and Jesus than most Christians. I also appreciate hearing about the path you are on. You are heading in a such a wonderful direction! All of us are on a spiritual journey, and I can see that you are doing very well in yours. :)
I have looked for the perfect church, and I do not believe it exists. But because I read in the Scriptures that God wants me to be part of a church community where I can worship and serve and grow with other Christians, I knew I needed to find a church to call my family. While some churches have not been good fits, today, I'm part of a church that I call family. Again, I don't believe that God wants us to live out our faith without a local gathering of Christians, so I encourage you to find a church where you can live your Christianity along with them. Thanks for your beautiful comment! May God bless you!!!

@@PostApostolicChurch I agree with everything you said there, the lack of a church does feel off, which is why I watch several sermons a week...none are flashy mega-churches or anything, but plain churches that just happen to throw a camera on a tripod throughout the service for a handful of viewers.
I always cross reference what they say with my own reading of scripture, which is why I keep studying it, and learning. I just have not found the place I am meant to be yet, and sometimes I get impatient about it. But maybe it is a test to keep me working at it, so I am never mislead by false nor errant teachings, and I can use some patience anyway. I pray to find the truth, what ever that truth is, near every day. As such I would hate to be mislead. I am sure I'll find my place when I and Christ thinks I am ready. And I am doing what I can to learn the right things and not being content without a proper church there.

I enjoy the part that you explain they dealt with the same problems as today. To me, it seems as though this new idea of "don't bring religion into this" leaves humans to think they have power to decide rationalize and fix these things themselves without guidance from the Bible. This idea is pushed into schools sure for religious freedom but ultimately to tell us to let those who are higher in authority decide for us rather than using our God given rationality to see what is right and wrong. I believe God is within us all, and the Holy Spirit makes it so that we can do kind things and continue to do right by others. There is a lot of political and business interest to gain when children are taught at a young age don't use the Bible for guidance. Those who own businesses rather its medical advice, therapy, drugs, people coping with alcoholism turning to their friends/peers for advice is all wrong. The truth is the Bible is here to guide us and help us solve all the same problems, but we have been brain washed to believe Religion and Beliefs are meant to be hushed and kept quiet... why because this only benefits the devil. You cannot do what God has intended for you to do when you're consumed with drugs, addicted to sex, pornography and ultimately its a waste of your time. We know time is very valuable and each person should use their time to do right by others and live by God's will. Using ones time to continue to sin doesn't progress any individual. Ultimately this causes insecurity within, self loathing which is what the devil wants so someone continues to believe they are stuck where they are or cant succeed and they become a selfish, materialistic person who is unable to do right by others. If we stopped worshipping the God's of this world, we'd have way more time to do right by others. Love and Light thats God and Christ I believe in the Holy Trinity God bless.

As I first, for five years ago or more, read the first letters from the pupils to the Sent Out (apostles), I was greatly impressed over how incredible the Faith was in the Assembly of Yeshua. The true Faith is important to learn, and it comes from the first letters of the first generation of Christians, and was followed by honest men.

The farther away from origin any group moves the easier it is to twist words of truth. Genuine believers are encouraged to dig deeper into scripture, culture at the respective times and places where first writings originated, and even sources outside the faith that support historic accounts. I just found your channel, and I'm very excited to learn the scriptures more deeply from learning about what the early Christians understood.
I don't want to appear as though I am "majoring on minors", but I am a stickler for not asserting unproven claims as true (or untrue), just because they SOUND reasonable, or because "they are likely to be true". One example is when people state that none of the original writings by Paul, Peter, or any other New Testament writers exist today. That might be true, and it might not. We don't know, as there are literally thousands of extant manuscripts and partials. It would be more reasonable to state that "it is unlikely that any of the original writings remain". Although this particular claim doesn't have any risky applications, the principle itself is a good one to follow to keep one from making more risky errors.
Thanks again for this labor you've undertaken. It is a great blessing for those of us who want a greater understanding of God's word!

Amazing and well done video. Though I haven't read all the ante Nicene writings I have read a lot of them and even read certain works multiple times. I think Clement of Alexandria's The Stromata is the most amazing book I've ever read besides the Scriptures themselves and even though it's very long I was left wanting more because it ends on such a high note and the complete work is lost. I've also read many of Tertullians writings several times and Lactantius as well. Origen's reply to Celsus is astounding and beautifully written. It might be the best defense of the faith ever written in my opinion. I hope to one day read all the early church leaders writings because they are always so fruitful and inspiring.
For me to find the writings of the early church was a big breath of fresh air because I went 2 years almost with doing nothing but studying scripture and then went out on a search for a church of like minded people, but what I found was buildings full of people who had come to many many different conclusions about the faith than I had from my own private study of the scriptures. I became very isolated and separated from the rest of the world and felt like I must have been missing something. I started to doubt what I had learned and felt so strongly about and convinced of. I Started to study the writings of other men and kept finding glaring lies and false teachings. I went through this search of trying to see if anyone had ever agreed with my understanding of the scripture and it wasn't until I started reading the writings of the early church leaders that I no longer felt crazy and alone because not only had I found men who agreed with my own conclusions, but I had found men who seemed to know God better than any other I had read before. They went so deep and explained God so thoroughly and beautifully that I became addicted to learning from them. They were truly men who knew The Lord and loved him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
I later found out about the "Anabaptist" and others like Peter Chelcicky and his book "Net of Faith" www.elcristianismoprimitivo.com/Netoffaith.htm and Peter Riedemann "Love is Like Fire" www.plough.com/en/ebooks/l/love-is-like-fire and Menno Simons among many others and soon realised the Lord has always had a remnant and that I wasn't crazy.
If you haven't read those books I mentioned above you really should because they are amazing. Especially Net of Faith. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching more of your videos.
