That is so cool!! BTW, we called those "Armstrong" power steering units. 8) One of my best buddies, who is no longer with us, collected 60's cars. He always said if your going to collect cars you need a tilt bed roll-off truck. That 318 is perfect! High lift, short duration cam, power down low. LOL Wonder if there is Alcoa wheels to fit that? With dark red paint that would look cool!! Hmm, maybe an aluminum roll-back for sale some place? With very little work, and some 'lipstick', she could look really cool!! It's so easy to snag a car too. Back end up and back, hook a Y cable, and drag it up/down and on. Away you go. 8) --gary
My Dad had a used 1972 Dodge Maxivan with a 318. It’s almost eerie to me how that truck sounds identical. I heard it, and I knew what it was for sure. Thanks for the video Sam! I’d love to see that finished up and running on your videos! Stay Safe!!!
That poly 318 is like you said its a “ semi hemi” these engines are small Displacement but have alot Of torque and a strong block hence why they’re the “ A Series” engines compared to the “ LA series” 273,318,340 and 360. If Chrysler would’ve kept to that design and made a 340 version with alot of different intake options it would’ve changed the small block game big time. Good video like always Sam.
There’s another one with an actual dump body. Just setting in the desert just east of Twentynine Palms. Looks like it has fairly decent sheet metal on it.
That’s a super clean neat old truck with endless potential. That could someday make a cool project for the channel. It’d be worth hanging on to. Could make a cool ramp truck with a common rail and a 6 speed
2 questions after watching it through. #1 Are those wheels the rim lock one's? I've heard they can be fairly dangerous. #2 Do you ever look around and say "I have to stop buying trucks!" I'm just curious, love the content and it's entertaining but I can't keep up with the projects! 😂
These trucks here these trucks are the best trucks for tow trucks, trucks, and flats. They for tongue and stuff the good trucks are nice coming in and the nice of the stacks and put all LA lights on. Take them off the door frame and put a new fruit. Put them on a new frame. Put your seats in there. Use new nutribula Dodge parts lucid. Take out the old drop for let's drop a new Cummins in there. And they're coming to give some power. Our take their old rims off take them old dolls off luke's bleach in everything
Is it possible to put 180 horsepower 1988 12 valve down in that get rid of that gas junk don't get me wrong 318 are awesome they just don't belong in a truck that big but if you was to stay with gas Resto mod that with an 8 L V10 and an nv 5600 behind it then it would have some power wouldn't be slow either but anyway it's a cool truck
No way that should be a poly if it is someone definently installed one should have kept it original but the 225 was pretty gutless the poly is much torqier.
Yes, that is a 318 Polyspherical engine. Production ended in 1966. The original 6 cyl engine would have been a Slant 6.
They continued production of the A engine for several years after 66 for the Trucks.
@@bobkanno6797correct but the poly 318 ended in 1966
I had a 1970 D200 with a 318 engine, loved it.❤
That’s a pretty badass truck and it sounds pretty healthy too.

On the brake bleeding I got myself a vacuum bleeder to connect to my air tank. Definitely would recommend looking into one
A flatbed medium duty 2 wd Dodge is a win every time!

One cool old truck keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
Wow , needs to be an old school ramp truck , would be so cool !!!
Super clean honestly, can't wait for more vids on it.
Cool old truck. 🎉 Great for the fleet.
Nice sweatshirt brother, looks good on you!
What a neat medium duty truck.

That engine still sounds strong. 👍🏻
Awesome truck.
I believe when you turn the truck over and it doesn't have spark until you let off the key, means a bad ballast resistor, cheap easy part to replace.
Not in love with all old trucks, but it was nice when each brand or type had their own personalities.

I’d 100% be down for that. Dump truck might be handy also on it own.
@@samsonandrew7652 Yes dump truck would be handy for your business. If you did that, it would need a VBelt logging sticker on the door 👌🏻
Ballist resister has a start circuit and a run circuit
Heck yeah brother 👍🏻🇺🇸
The old Dodge emblem, the "fratzog", closely resembles the Triforce.

Hey Sam, are you going to make it into a functioning dump truck for your company? I like the truck. I like the old tech.
They ran the slant 6 engines all the way up to the 600 series trucks.

Rebuild the Ticking motor that you were going to put in Grandma’s truck and drop it in that bad Cherry.
CHRYSLER I guess wasn’t a big fan of standardization. I thought they switched to the famous gear reduction starter by the early 1970’s.
I'm starting to think that you have a thing for Dodges.
Well he did say it ran when he parked it. 😂
Old school cool .i see a cummins swap .Denis from santa rosa ca
Looks like you need a ballast resistor
Old sweet potato truck. Make a great home base wrecker just add the slide deck and you have a new favorite toy truck.
Call the 318 wide block
Need to put a roll back on it
Be nice tow rig and all purpose truck. And Cummins swap it lol
PTA Cummins in it

That’s what im doing to my crew cab sweptline. 97 215 pump 5 speed chassis swapped.
@@samsonandrew7652 total coolness with all the awesome sauce I'll stay tuned to see that

Yeah someone definitely installed it
5 years is nothing
That’s what the truck said
