Nice video. I just bought a D500 here in Sweden it is from 1966 and 50.000km was an old airfield firetruck and now a nice pick up. Im a car collector but have only Volvos so i desided to get me an nice american truck to and oboy what i love my dodge truck. Thanks for a great video :)
@TechTimeTraveller thats awesome! I've seen a few busses, but I haven't had the chance to buy one haha. There's a really cool one in a couple of scenes in Duel!
@LambvinskisGarage Thanks!! Up until I came across this one, amazingly located just 20 mi from my house, I'd never heard of Dodge based school buses either. Mine is in really good physical shape- but what you mentioned about mice and tail pipes.. ugh. I finally got the hood on mine open and it's a rat metropolis. I'm really hoping they didn't find their way into the engine. Which I think is a 318 poly.. the alternator is mounted over to the top driver side rather than lower passenger side like on yours.
@@LambvinskisGarageI posted some pics of mine on allpar BTW if you want to see it. I've been searching for more pics of Dodge buses but not a lot found so far.

13:12 You're 100% spot on about that distributor location. I had an old military Dodge with a 318 in it. I used to plow snow for about 25 years and I ended up building a little roof over the distributor so the rain wouldn't mess with it anymore. Love 318's how tough they are but hate that distributor location.
It's amazing how many people don't know that Eastern Orygun and Western Oregon are really TWO completely different states, in pretty much every way. Same with Washington.
How about selling a fellow Sweptline fan a chrome 64 grille, some real nice refrigerator style door handles, and the side trim for a 64 short wheelbase.
1st is a Clean Title under seller's name with VIN on title matching VIN on data plate. Check this before u fall in love with it. I love my '61 short & '64 long.
A very important point omitted concerning two wheel drive one tons. From 1958 until 1968 they had specific wheels and drums. I have a 68 and a 65 D-300. The drums are impossible to find in usable condition. They can be relined but it is an expensive proposition 2k for both rear drums. The wheels like the drums are 6 on 7.250 bolt pattern . My 68 has 750.16 split rim tube/liner, my 65 has 17.5 which are tubeless, both very difficult to find. Axle swap is difficult and expensive, due to gearing and brake issues..
Yes! I did not know that at the time of making this video, I may make a new one with more information. This D400 needs rear axles aswell, unfortunately.
I just got a super solid 68 power wagon only issue was the cab mounts are rotten inside the cab other then that it was immaculate. Ohh and the wooden floor boards in box are gone. But we found the entire history of the truck in the glove box including the owners manual from the dealer with the info of the company that bought it
did "sweptline only refer to the cargo bed style? i read in old magazine ads that the old-style bed with external fenders was called the "utiline" by dodge , and the newer style bed that has integral fenders and is wide as the cab was called the sweptline
From my understanding, only the standard bed with the check mark is called a sweptline. You are correct that the external fender or step side beds are called utilines! I'm not sure what they would call them with a flat bed or the wide bed. Either way, I call them all sweptlines if they're 1961-1971 trucks.
Question: On the floor of that orange stake body: What is that headlight bucket from? I need buckets from a Grumman Olson Kurbside. Is that from behind the trims on a sweptline?
Unfortunately the 69 d200 I have is rusted all the way up to the bottom door hinges. Not sure the cab is worth fixing. Unfortunately you dudes live a long way from me.
Have you done any work to the front brakes on the D500? Do you know where I can buy a hub socket for the front axle? It seems to be about 2+1/4" octagon but I'm not sure and am having trouble finding that size online. Any guidance is appreciated!
I have no! We haven't done much with the bigger D or W series stuff. Maybe ask some of the Facebook groups, they can possibly steer you in the right direction! There's some pretty good ones! Sweptline Owners Club, and Dodge Sweptline trucks
i am looking for a Hyro-Vac brake booster for a 1966 D500 if you know of one. Truck only has 50,000 miles on it was parked for years brakes work but no booster power
Oh man we generally don't do stuff with trucks over D400, I think maybe the D200 has a booster but it's a goofy one. If you send me an email or a message on Facebook or Instagram, I can send you pics.
Has anyone got a Nice short wheelbase bed for a Sweptline for sale ? Also looking for super nice refrigerator style door handles, the stainless / chrome trim for a 64 swb, and a 64 Nice chrome grille ? Making my Nice 70 look like a 64. Thanks
@Kolt Ten that depends on a lot of factors. On the east coast, these trucks bring a lot more money than they do on the west. Then, like I show in the video, all the rust spots are pretty important aswell! If you want, you're more than welcome to send me some pics either by email, Facebook, or Instagram!
