These are beautiful! I love that you’ve used crushed walnut shells as filler. I made so many cross stitch pieces during covid lockdown that I have yet to finish. You have inspired me to get busy on them. 😊👍💖
Thanks so much for making this video, Jennifer-especially for us stitchers who haven’t ever attempted a pillow finish or touched a sewing machine in decades if ever….🤗🌻
Hi Jennifer Thank you for being brave and showing us your first video on attaching trim. I have not done any finishing yet so your sewing method has really helped me! I love all your videos too! Keep them coming! Barb Guenther
Hello from Oklahoma! Thank you so much for sharing your real-time tutorial using walnut shells and chenille trims. I have supplies of both of these products and your video has given me the "boost" to use them. Today is the day! I appreciate your help. Both of your pillows are beautiful!
Wow, thank you so much for showing all the steps in making a finish like this. I can’t imagine what a giant pain it was having to do all the steps around a camera setup! Both finishes look AMAZING! The colors are spot-on, and the patterns are so gorgeous! Thank you again! 😇👍 Meline
Hi Jennifer, what a great tutorial! I have a few that need finishing, I'm definately going to try your method with the crushed walnut. I think they looked adorable when they were finished. Thank again for taking the time to film 😊
Very cute finishes! Thanks for the tutorial. I see so many cross stitch littles finished with various trims, but I don't know how. This was very helpful!
I loved this video. Thank you for showing us the steps to finish pillows from start to finish. I never would of thought of back stitching at the corners I have always just pivoted them. Your pillows turned out great and the colour of the orange matched perfectly.
Thank you so much for showing all the steps to your finished. I've always wanted to try a pillow finish but wasn't positive exactly all the steps I would need to do. Plus I haven't used a sewing machine in a good 35+ years.
Beautiful! Thanks so much for such a detailed video. You are so organized. Love it. I have several pieces stitched and am gearing up to do my very first finish.
Thank you so much for showing this way to finish smalls. I have used sawdust for stuffing and really do like it. I make my pillow sewing all around the four sides then cut a opening in the back for stuffing then a patch over the opening. So thanks again will have to try the walnuts it is always great to learn something new. May your Holidays be great🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
I love the fact that a lot of this is in "real time"! It gave me an idea about how the process will really happen when I tackle something similar. Terrific job!!!
A suggestion for the mess. Pour the walnut shells into your piece with everything on a cookie sheet. It’s pretty much impossible to pour shells or sawdust into one of these without spilling any. Love your finishes. I need to find some Blackbird patterns to try.i just love that owl!
Jennifer, thank you so much for doing this pillow tutorial!! I have been wondering how to sew my chenille trim on my pillow. So thank you for showing me how it is done!!!! Lynn
Thank you for doing this video, even all your little frustrations are a help, and when it comes to finishing like this I can use any help I can get Audrey
Great job on the pillows. 😊 I was thinking it might be easier to fill the pillows if they were sitting upright in a glass, jar, or bowl. Maybe even clear the funnel with the chopstick if the shells get stuck. I love that chenille rickrack.
This video was very helpful! I am a new cross stitcher and currently have several things started, but not finished anything yet..your finishes looked great.....thx for sharing...Kathy
Thank you so much for doing this video. I am about to make some of these little pin cushions and found it very helpful. By the way, if you used the clips to hold the trim in place that might have been easier as this would have kept the trim out of your way. I learnt about pressing the inside on itself which makes for a better finish when you turn the pillow the right way round too. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for the video, I have so many stitched pieces that I've been wanting to finish into small pillows but I'm afraid of messing them up... I have a machine but haven't used it in years soo with that said I just need to start somewhere.. Right? This is such a great help. Would like to see more.. TU again 😊
It takes me a while to find videos. I have yet to finish a pillow but I've been sewing for a very long time. I like the idea of backstitchig at the corners, especially with the walnut shells. I'm curious, why did you use SF101 for interfacing,I find it a bit on the heavy side.
I'm glad you stopped by! As for the interfacing, it's what I have on hand, I use it frequently in my other sewing, and I like it. It is probably a little thicker than it needs to be, but doesn't bother me. I actually purchased a lighter weight Pellon this week, to use in a t-shirt quilt, and I'm thinking of trying that one next to see how I like it!
I am very anal about certain things that do not really matter. I use fabric markers to cover thread that does not match like white in a dark fabric. You do a very nice job that wool was gorgeous and the chenille ricrac. Thank you for taking the time to share.
What color floss did you use for pillow called "Waiting for the Harvest" ? I love that orange! You did a great job in constructing your pillows. They are gorgeous. Thanks for doing the video. You did a great job!!
It was a Victorian Motto floss, I don't recall the color. If you watch the couple of videos before the finishing video I probably talk about it there and give the name.
Jennifer, loved your video. I’m trying to order chenille for the first time, and I don’t know whether to get the mini or jumbo chenille. Which did you use? Thanks!
Hi Venetia, both patterns are by Blackbird Designs. The one with the pumpkins is called Waiting for the Harvest and the other one is Spell of the Moon.
I'm not a finisher in any way, shape or form; however, I enjoyed watching you finish these darling little pinkeeps so, so much, Jennifer! You did such a great job teaching, and they could not possibly have turned out any cuter! 😊😊
Thank you for sharing your talents.
I’m was a pillow virgin til tonight. I need to know how to put chenille on it so I am watching you! I had this video saved in my library
So glad I found you!🥰
Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
Thanks for posting! I’ll be tackling a pillow later today. I hope I survive.
Very nice thank you for sharing.

I put my comment in too early. You are almost finished with the dark pillow and I love the shaggy look of it. I think it is perfect! Good job!

Thank you so very very much for sharing. It's very helpful to me. Now I can pull out some items to finish. TYFS. Hugs and best wishes. Lucinda

Thank you for posting this video! Your pillows look fantastic and I learned a LOT! I may have enough courage to make a pillow of my own this year. 🤞

Thank you so much for the tutorial. It was so helpful.
Thank you for sharing this!!
Thx for sharing. I find ironing interfacing on back if stitched piece makes a big difference.
Awesome finishes and awesome fully finishes. Thanks for sharing. (Pauline S)
Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful and great camera angles! Happy Thanksgiving!

Beautiful work!
Put your ornament in a bowl. THEN, Use funnel and fill. If it slips or some escape the filling bag or pillow, bowl will capture excess fall-out.
And btw, ur pillows are ADORABLE ❤️❤️
Indeed! Super fun and cute!!👏 Thank you for this tutorial. (New sub!)🧵

Came out pretty.

Thank you! It was a Victorian Motto floss, I think the color was Copper Orange.
Great tutorial, beautiful little pillows. I wonder how the pins keep sharp after using this cushion fell with walnut shells?
I think the walnut shells can help keep the pins sharp!
I love the fall color did you use the called for linen and what is your fiber choice I love this look
Great idea, beautiful pieces of handwork, but when you were filling the first cushion it was all off camera... 😏😏😏
Great video can tell me what the cross stitch patterns many thanks
Venetia
You can’t alway add a bit of batty scraps to add fullness in future ones
Hi I would love to know what colours threads was used in waiting for harvest pattern please
Venetia
It was a Victorian Motto floss, I don't recall the color. If you watch the couple of videos before the finishing video I probably talk about it there and give the name.

Thank you again I have ordered the waiting for harvest pattern and would love to know your orange colour threads you used many thanks Venetia
Thanks so much. I think I may be able to do some finishes
I'm not a finisher in any way, shape or form; however, I enjoyed watching you finish these darling little pinkeeps so, so much, Jennifer! You did such a great job teaching, and they could not possibly have turned out any cuter! 😊😊
