Burned my fingers one too many times with the glue gun so for Mothers Day I'm getting a sewing machine. This is the first pillow tutorial I've watched and I feel I've hit the jackpot, thank youuuu. 🌼
Nice pillow !!!! I'm going to make a pillow using your direction. You also taught this 70 something to finish my pillows. Thank you Kari .
Thank you, Carrie! You made adding Rick rack so much easier than it was going to be if I’d just done it the way I had planned. 😂
Glad it was helpful!
You make it look so easy, & it looked absolutely perfect when you were finished!! Thanks for the tutorial, Kari!
Excellent tutorial!! I am no longer "afraid" to ruin a small by trying to finish it myself!! As another poster said: "Game Changer"
Some great tips especially using a contrasting colour in the bobbin, genius!! 🤩

Excellent pillow tutorial! You really explained it for my simple brain! Thank you so much! ✂️🧵🪡
Pro tips! Thank you so much for de-mystifying adding rick rack into the seams. I have a couple of pieces ready for sewing and I can't wait to try it.
Hi Kerri, Thanks for this tutorial. I really like your method and will definitely be using it going forward!
Such a great tutorial! I really appreciate that you showed each step. I’ve got about 6 finished pieces that I can now turn into pillows! Thanks again..Suzette
This tutorial was excellent! I have a bunch of finished cross stitch pieces that are ready to assemble for my dough bowl. You are an excellent teacher and I’m always happy watching your enthusiasm.
Great tutorial thank you for sharing this is very helpful have a wonderful day and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Your tutorial taught me very helpful tips to putting Rick rack in a seam, doing a ladder back stitch to close, using lizard litter for weight in the bottom to have a stand up pillow and loved seeing you sew it on your machine as I’m a visual learner! Thanks so much Kari for sharing what works for you. I’m definitely going to refer back to this video when adding Rick rack to a pillow I finish. Happy stitching from Culpeper, VA
Awesome finishing tutorial!! Thanks so much for sharing ❤❤❤
Wow! So amazing. You make it look so easy. Can’t wait to make my first dough bowl pillow. Thank you so much for this video 😊💙
I’m so excited that you enjoyed the video. Please tag me on Instagram if you share your pillow finished. I would love to see it.
Such a great tip to draw the line and sew in the rick rack! I like that look, as I have just hand stitched it flat around the pillow. I also like the way you closed the back. I just cut a small slit, sew it together and cover with a piece of wool, usually cut into a heart or matching the shape of something in the stitched design. Thank you for your tutorial.
Great tutorial. I’ve never seen that method of the back opening.
I have a couple of pillows that I need to make for some Fall smalls. Thank you for showing how to attach the rick-rack! I have been wanting to do that for a while now but was too scared that I would mess it up and really wasn't sure how to go about it.
Great technique !! I have finished some small pillows, but mine didn't turn out as nice as yours. I appreciate you sharing in this tutorial. Love all your videos !
So anxious to try this. I have made pillows but your methods seems so much easier. Thanks for sharing. Edited to add: I made a pillow this afternoon and loved the results. My ric rac was 7/16 instead of 1/2 inch but otherwise I did exactly as you instructed. This will definitely be my go to way of finishing future pillows. Thank you again.
Dang it!!!! The 31st of August I FFO’d my first pillow small! I do wish I’d had this tutorial then!!! My pillow is loaded with mistakes, however, I’m so danged proud of how it turned out!!! Thank you, Kari, for sharing your amazing talent!
Don’t be so hard on yourself I’m sure the pillow is fantastic tastic trust me my first one was a hot mess express too.
That was a great tutorial! It was funny to hear you try and say Lizard Litter...lol
When you said Lizard Liver...I laughed so hard! 😁
You make my day!
I was looking for a great way to fill my Christmas ornaments and this was perfect! Thanks again.
I love it! Can you please provide the Etsy shop link for those cute labels? Thank you!
This is the BEST tutorial on small pillows using rick rack that I have seen. You answered a number of questions that I have had. Thank you so much. You’ve actually given me the courage to try again. I don’t see where you mentioned where you have your printed labels made. I’d love to have that information. Thank-you.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Fantastic tutorial. A real game changer. Thank you Kari. Can you let me know where you purchased your gorgeous labels please? X
Love this Kari! I’ll be attempting my first pillow finish with this tutorial. Where did you get the labels for the back? Thanks!
Hey Kari - Love this video!!! Can I ask where you purchased your 2022 tags? Wendy
Thank you! I have a lot of pillows stitched, but haven't fully finished them. Time to get to work! I couldn't find the etsy shop where you get your labels in the description box-- am I just missing it?
Great tutorial!! Did you post a link to the Etsy shop for the tags? Thank you! ✂️🧵🪡📍
No Etsy link to your label maker? Great video.
Enjoyed this tutorial very much!!! I can’t seem to find the labels on your site. Can you help me please? Thank you so much 😊
Where do you buy your labels? They are a cute addition.
Beautiful work ~ Can you please link your label maker and charm purchase?
Great tutorial, so enlightening!
Where do you get your great labels?
I get my labels wholesale as I use them for my business and order hundreds at a time. But I know that Etsy has some great custom label options.
Great tips! A couple of questions - I recently unearthed a stitchery perfect for my sewing room. I want to mount and frame it. I planned to use that sticky board and make it the size of the frame instead of doing all the tightening, etc. but now wonder if I should interface it first. And I have a beloved pillow with a huge teddy stitched on it (I think it's linen) in patriot colors but the stitch fabric has pulled away from the cotton fabric because it was used - not just admired by 4 boys! I think I'll take it apart and try to realign the stitch fabric then iron interfacing on it (it was stitched ages ago before this technique was used). Do you think this is the best method or could you think of a better way? Thanks for all your videos - I really enjoy them!
I don’t think you need to interface a framed piece as that’s not going to need to hold up to four boys loving hands. It should be pretty safe on the shelf or on the wall. I definitely would try to salvage in her face the pillow could get tricky though. Best of luck.
Great tutorial..but, I've never used a seeing machine in my life...and my mom never did either so I haven't really seen one used!!! Do you have a beginner machine you would recommend? Is this process beginner friendly? I have lots of smalls that I would love to make pillows with, but the thought of hand stitching sounds endless and messy.
