Most of the time, I ask myself if the person deserves the fine tools they have. In your case, I wonder if the high quality tools realize the master craftsman they have. I am bowled over (no pun intended) by your mathematical genius with wood. Absolutely stunning work. I salute you.
My husband and son are wood-workers. They made lion claw base oak tables at one time. Made and sold more than 10 of them. I understand how hard what you do is to accomplish. You not only accomplish it, you do it very well and are able to teach others to do it, also. Only 1 in 10,000 people can successfully teach what what they do well. You are in that rare percentage. Wonderful job, great video tutorial.
Wow. Talk about focused and attention to detail. It takes a great deal of patience and dedication to do a bowl like this. It’s magnificent. Michael Angelo would be proud.
Hi, Tom. Just discovered your channel. Sir, your work is absolutely exquisite! The amount of work you do BEFORE the piece even goes to the lathe is incredible! THANK YOU for inspiring us with your skill. Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA.
Wow! You have the patience of a Saint and do some of the most beautiful work I've ever seen. My father in law has an old lathe in his garage. I've got to try some of the simple projects.
and i thought, Olivier Gomis is crazy with his segment works sir, you're way beyond crazy XD that patience to do this i would totally rage quit after a while
Perhaps unlike any other builder in a segmented bowl turning. Because the pcs are blocks not segmented? Resulting in almost a brick work look. UNREAL COOL TOOLS. The index wheel. The height gauge. Etc. All make for some true, plumb. Square glue ups. So the pattern comes out so very evenly. Its a watch again video in pattern menu g! Very nice job. Dr ent size too!
I have to say I honestly always thought woodworking was something that would be boring but this is absolutely amazing and it makes me want to get into it
and i thought, Olivier Gomis is crazy with his segment works sir, you're way beyond crazy XD that patience to do this i would totally rage quit after a while
It would take me 17 years to complete this, the pattern would be wrong and then I'd have a catch on my.lasy pass when I was turning it. This guy is talented
AT LAST, A Video that doesn't start with an ad that no one wanted to watch anyway, I will enjoy this video to the end, I just know I will. Thank you very much Sir:....
Geraldo - Pindamonhangaba- SP- Brasil Congratulations, your work is extraordinary. I would like to know two things: 1 - How long did it take you to complete this sin? 2 - What is the value for sale of a part of these? Geraldo - Pindamonhangaba- SP- Brazil
Thanks, yes these bowls take a lot of time. Normally I don't make them to sell them, but if someone wants to buy one I will sell it, I would sell this one for $1,200.
im looking at this bowl just thinking how much i would sell it for if i made it , because i definitely would spend a grip on it and thats out of my character
OMG! How meticulous and time-consuming, gluing all those teeny tiny pieces, but worth it in the end. Wonder how long that took? And I'm a little surprised he didn't use Milliput to close up the holes?
I noticed you sanding down the sharp edges of the open segments on the lathe. Is that a critical step before you actually touch your turning tools to the bowl?
This has 112 segments per row and the open space is 12%, you need to divide (360 / 112) * 0.88 is the angle, but because the piece has an angle on both sides (think about a slice of pie) you need to divide by 2 to give the answer of 1.41 degrees.
Amazing work! Thank you very much for sharing it with the wood turning community.
An extreme amount of work that only few people would have the patience to go with. My respect sir!
I am blown away by the amount of time, patience, and accuracy of your work. This project beats anything I have ever seen in the way of woodworking.
That’s how you turn some priceless pieces of wood to a treasure. Amazing 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello, very good work, you have some video where you can mona the machine to assemble the segments.
I am not sure what mona the machine means. I show how I glue the pieces, there is not much more than that.
YOUR WORK IS SIMPLY ASTONISH, I AM A BEGINNER IN OPEN SEG. BUT I DON'T THINK I WILL BE ABEL TO DO SUCH A WORK, AT LEAST FOR KNOW
Respect ! Il faut concevoir, préparer les pièces avec grande précision ... et tourner le résultat sans se tromper.
ludovic vautier : je n'y connais rien, mais j'admire la dose de compétences variées qu'il faut. Est-ce une erreur ?

Where can I get that program 🤔 , your work is just amazing 👏
Go to : woodturnerpro.com/software/woodturnerpro.htm
@@TomLohman I don't see your segment jig but the $130 is that advised for someone like me who has not made anything before? 🤔
look at my website "segmentedturning.org" or email me at tomlohman@earthlink.net
I noticed you sanding down the sharp edges of the open segments on the lathe. Is that a critical step before you actually touch your turning tools to the bowl?
This is how I do it, if you use a bowl gouge you may not need to sand. I use Easy Wood Tools and they are a little aggressive.
Incredible work!
Paciencia infinita, artesanía pura, exquisitez. Una maravilla.
May know the angle are you cutting every piece please because im tryng to make something like that but its look diferent
This has 112 segments per row and the open space is 12%, you need to divide (360 / 112) * 0.88 is the angle, but because the piece has an angle on both sides (think about a slice of pie) you need to divide by 2 to give the answer of 1.41 degrees.
Dear sir i have no idea how you can do that but bravo .
