Harvey if you do not hook up the choke it will always be on . That choke solenoid is a heater that closes the choke when power is supplied .
Hey G Spot, U got an interesting name there Bud!!! It looked like the choke plunger is pushed down without power which would turn off the choke, I thought applying power would pull the plunger out, thus applying the choke.... I will look at it again... Having said that, for not applying the choke, it does seem to start mighty easy, even when ice cold and it does seem to run rich when warmed up.... Hey Harvey, love your videos they are very informative and entertaining. One question. I got a 125cc Chinese atv now the problem I'm having is that when I turn the key and and press the start button nothing happens, but if I put to a screw driver to touch the two points for the stater solenoid it starts right up. Any suggestions of what could it be? Thanks
Hey James, Sounds like Ur starting solenoid coil is not being powered, if there are 2 smaller wires coming out of Ur starting solenoid, the green one should be shorted to ground when the ATV is ready to start, the other wire, typically red and yellow should have 12VDC on it when U push the starter button... Assuming both are true, then Ur starting solenoid is bad, they cost less then $10 on eBay, I hope this helps, let me know how it turns out.... I have a hammerhead 150! with a murdered wiring set up! I ordered a wire harness but my ? is do you have a detailed vid of how to set one up with a regular key start! it has no turn signals brake lights ect! and the dash is all fucked out! I want to get rid of the stupid key push button start and what wire goes where? ill send you pics of what I have! thanks!!!

I've got a Roketa gk13 250cc single cylinder that has a CDI. I'm in a similar problem where I bought it used with a completely trashed electrical system. Would this method work with mine? And would that involve not using any of the previous rats nest wires?
I am stuck on my atv rebuild because nobody sells the stator pickup that I need. I need the one for cg150 engines that has the shark fin looking mounting tabs. All I can find are the ones with much larger rounded tabs.
Hey Joseph!!! I'm not sure exactly how Ur pulse generator mounts, but, if I were in Ur situation, I would search eBay with, "atv cdi pulse generator", and see what comes up, then I would see if anything there can be adapted to my application... Also search complete ATV ignition.... BTW, I have worked on several hundred ATVs. Hondas, clones, kawasakis, etc.... Only one bad pulse generator and it was mistreated... Lots of wire harness issues, a couple of CDI boxes, and a few opened stators, some mechanically damaged... I hope this helps.... Harvey Spooner Mine was definitely abused. I literally had to buy or rebuild everything on the atv. When I got to the stator I had hoped it was good but when I removed the side cover and removed the pickup it was severely worn to a slant. I tried modifying the one that came with the complete electrics kit but in the end I would have to drill/ tap new holes and that is beyond my comfort level. I might try it once it is a spare engine and if successful I can use it for a shifter kart..
got that kit installed it and i still can't get spark to the plug what else would be wrong in the motor that won't let me get spark thank you bill

So are you totally bypassing the stator here? I am getting weak spark on my hammerhead 250 SS and I think it is the stator so maybe this would be a good way to diagnose that?

My Fox, 150cc carbide Kart will start and idle for a few seconds but then shuts off even if I try and give it gas. It has fresh gas...any ideas???

Hi harvey, i have a Quantum Carbide 150cc buggy that i cannot get started, Seems i have a no spark issue also, only thing being is that Mine is DC fired instead of AC. Would this swap work for me? that rats nest has to go,it would drive me nuts not to mention a fire hazzard. you are the king of pit bike ignition hacks!!!
Hey Roger, the rats nest part is not hooked up, it is running on the pit bike ignition only.... I need to sort thru that rats nest to see what I want to keep.... It will be done right once done with a fuse and everything.... I have not installed a battery on this cart because I don't trust the hacked wiring, even the stuff that I installed....
