Maybe a stupid question. But is there a difference between negative ac and dc ? The green wire from stator (ground) is connected to the frame/engine/chassis, but also connected there is the dc negative from battery. So its ok to have both AC and DC ground on the same place ( engine/frame chassis etc).
I just read a wiring diagram before that said you can have an ac or a dc stator depending on the manufacturer. If your wiring hasn't been played with before then maybe you have d.c?

Some pick up have 2 wires, the blue/white and a green/white. What is that green/white wire for, it leads to the cdi next to the ground but it is not grounded to the chassis or to the battery neg cable, as it enters the cdi it exits the ground solid green wire via a resistence of about 1.6-ohms. So if you ever wanted to join these two wires as a single ground you will be doing so without the resistence of 1.6-ohms causing your pick up to fail. Any ideas?😮.... And the reason why you may want to join these two wires is so that you can use a DC cdi in place of an AC cdi in the case that your exciter windings burn out while on the road, instead of having to change your stator you can just use a DC cdi until you get home.???

Hello! Once you have visually verified that there is spark by grounding spark plug to chassis or engine and cranking, then I would check your engines compression. If you plug the spark plug hole with your finger there should be enough compression to blow your finger out (if you do not have a gage).

Kyle, I have a 2021 EZGO Valor with a 150cc (KYEFI) Kymco GY6 EFI engine. It will not run, and this is a common problem (with no fix) among other EZGO GY6 owners. Issues: Lights will not come on, and engine will not start. The horn and backup alarm will work, but they're hardwired straight to the battery that's perfect (verified by shop) with 12.6 volts. I changed the ignition and that fixed it, but as soon as I parked it, it wouldn't run anymore. I changed the ignition again and that fixed it again; however, one day later and it stopped running yet again. I bought another ignition, but that didn't do anything. I bought a fourth ignition and nothing. I can run a wire across two of the four ignition terminals and the lights come on, but it will not run. Do you have any suggestions? Any help is appreciated. Hey Kyle, I like your videos, they are very informative... so, I have a 150cc gy6 and it starts and runs on starting fluid, but not natively with just the gas. Spark seems fine, I replace the coil/spark plug and wire. I've had problems with the air filter system clogging easily. Now it simply will not start and seems to not be getting fuel, or the mixture is bad, not sure what to do next. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Ken
Hi Ken, yes it definitely sounds like you are having an air-fuel mixture problem. I would start by inspecting the carburetor to see if any gas or perhaps too much gas is getting to the intake. If not I would remove the carb and thoroughly clean the inside (bowl, jets, etc). A replacement carb is cheap enough as well. If the engine was running before this probably isn’t the problem but you could possibly have a compression issue.
Hi i want my exhaust to shoot flames ive been told that i should use a coil with a switch hooked up to it now the sparkplug goes to exhaust can you guide me on how to do it

I have a 150cc gy6 engine that runs great after it warms up, but it takes a few minutes to get warmed up. It seems that the electric choke is not working. How can I tell if the choke is not working or if it is not getting electric to it? The electric choke has about 8.5 ohms resistance. The electric wires going to it come from the voltage regulator. How do I check to see if the proper voltage is coming from the voltage regulator? I thought about taking your advice and buying a new carb w/the elec choke on it. But, then would I have to buy something else?
By the way, I don't know if it was related, but recently it would not start due to a very weak spark at the plug. I replaced the DCI box and coil wire. That fixed the starting problem, but now the choke is not working.
I have a gym 150cc scooter replaced engine set valves. Ran great now barely runs acting like dirty fuel replaced the fuel still acting up. Amy suggestions?
This is likely a problem related to air/fuel mixture. go through the carb and make sure nothing is clogging the jets. also make sure the air/fuel mix screw is set correctly and that there are no leaks in the intake manifold.
I would recommend finding the electrical diagram online and trace the voltage with a volt meter or even a test light if you have one. This way you can find at which component you are losing voltage.

Hey, could u go a little more in detail with the kill switch? I have a agm sp50 and the killswitch doesnt work., there are 4 plugs one for the horn two for the killswitch and one cant plug in in anything because there is nowhere to plug in. Also i have a problem with my lights. The normal light works but the big one doesn't(sometimes it does turn on by itself and then off but the light only turned on once when the light should've been turned off and when i turned it on it turned off?)
I was always under the impression that ignition coils ran on dc, and that the cdi unit changes ac from the stator to dc for the coil, but you said it was ac to the coil so a bit confused.
Depends what type stator you have Ac or dc If you look at the coils on the stator, if it’s bare coils all around, I believe its DC IF there’s some coils that look like they’re wrapped in white tape, its AC. I believe it was ac that charges your battery and dc powers up cdi
What should the resistance read for the Pulse coil from output lead (blu/wht) to ground if good? I'm searched for this part and it isn't found. The stators aren't expensive but I hate to throw it out just because of the pick up coil.
At 5:00 you said connect you black lead from meter to black lead on coil then your red lead to lighter colored terminal. Why would you connect the black lead from meter to power on coil lead? Black is neutral and green is ground?????
I don't understand removing the kill switch wire to by pass the safety switches when I still have to squeeze the brake handle to even get it cranking. I've got some readings sketched down but I don't know if the are correct can I send them to you?
Does anybody have any idea why one would run smooth at cold start but with in two minutes start running very rough? Could that be a coil going bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
why buy a new carb when most you can just open and clean? saves you about 40+ bucks. wth man? i been doing this for 20+years and i try to save ppl money not have them spend when not needed lol.
Well new carbs online are only ~25 bucks for these engines and save you the headache of taking it off, cleaning, putting it back on only to realize it still is not completely cleaned. From my experience its worth the small price to just replace with a new one. But to each their own!
Hi Flacco_flow, I would start by first checking the battery of course and make sure it is charged. Next start at the battery and begin tracing power back through the electrical components with a voltmeter (or a test light just to ensure power is getting through each).
Helpful video except his snacks his lips every time he pauses and starts talking again uhhhh

I would recommend finding the electrical diagram online and trace the voltage with a volt meter or even a test light if you have one. This way you can find at which component you are losing voltage.
does anyone know about wiring on a 250 joncin twin cylinder motor have harness to adapt but there are 3 yellow wires from magneto plus a red/black, one blue and one white for memory anyone got any ideas thanks
You Then Man. Thanks, Like and Subscribed .
Will non resistor spark plugs and or caps harm the c.d.I.on my gy6 scooter?
Great video. I haven’t had time to test my system yet. I pulled my spark plug out and turned the key. No spark the whole time it is trying to crank and then as soon as i turn off the key, i see one little spark. Has anyone ever seen this? Thanks
Look
Hey, could u go a little more in detail with the kill switch? I have a agm sp50 and the killswitch doesnt work., there are 4 plugs one for the horn two for the killswitch and one cant plug in in anything because there is nowhere to plug in. Also i have a problem with my lights. The normal light works but the big one doesn't(sometimes it does turn on by itself and then off but the light only turned on once when the light should've been turned off and when i turned it on it turned off?)
I've got all new parts and not still won't start..
how do i check a gy6 stator that does not have a black red wire out of the stator? it is only a 4 wire stator
I was always under the impression that ignition coils ran on dc, and that the cdi unit changes ac from the stator to dc for the coil, but you said it was ac to the coil so a bit confused.
Depends what type stator you have
Ac or dc
If you look at the coils on the stator, if it’s bare coils all around, I believe its DC
IF there’s some coils that look like they’re wrapped in white tape, its AC.
I believe it was ac that charges your battery and dc powers up cdi
Taking out the plug wire for the kill switch on cdi turns off motor?? When running
What should the resistance read for the
Pulse coil from output lead (blu/wht)
to ground if good? I'm searched for this
part and it isn't found. The stators aren't
expensive but I hate to throw it out just
because of the pick up coil.
At 5:00 you said connect you black lead from meter to black lead on coil then your red lead to lighter colored terminal. Why would you connect the black lead from meter to power on coil lead? Black is neutral and green is ground?????
Green is ground and black i believe is negative
You could also have just 2coils on the stator the charge coil and the main primary coil
Very good video, thank you.
This is great. Thank you.
Had nothing on the red and black wire and ground. Replaced stator and nothing has changed? Where to go on from that?
What about the gy6 that have DC cdi do you know how to check them? thank you
Love the video! Thank you so much and God bless! ❤😃
why buy a new carb when most you can just open and clean? saves you about 40+ bucks. wth man? i been doing this for 20+years and i try to save ppl money not have them spend when not needed lol.
Well new carbs online are only ~25 bucks for these engines and save you the headache of taking it off, cleaning, putting it back on only to realize it still is not completely cleaned. From my experience its worth the small price to just replace with a new one. But to each their own!
Sorry, Pertutti Alto. Thought that didn't look right.

Hello there, I have no spark at all or any of electrical components are receiving any power.
I have a 139qmb Chicago go scooter 100cc bb kit
Hi Flacco_flow, I would start by first checking the battery of course and make sure it is charged. Next start at the battery and begin tracing power back through the electrical components with a voltmeter (or a test light just to ensure power is getting through each).
What is Advantage of 11 pole stator???
Thank you for doing this video
