You guys are emphasizing that the wrangler is a quicker drag car based on *engines.* Yes, I agree... "torque" wins races. But you guys are neglecting the Gladiator probably got "towing truck gears in the rear end," making it slower off the line. Also, gasoline engines tend to have the torque more readily available across the entire rpm spectrum, where as typically with a diesel you can get loads of torque but you do have to wait longer for it, even with these car companies putting turbos on them. Put the same gears in both vehicles then see what happens.
MethodMarine both have the same gears in the axles
I thought you guys traded in the Rebel for the 7.3?
The Black Forest Gear throwback top has superior sealing from leaks, can be installed by yourself in half an hour, and is made right here in Michigan, USA!
@@MethodMarine umm...incorrect...the turbos are usually for top end power, not low-end torque....diesels have all the torque down low and not much up top...of course that depends on the size of the exhaust housing, variable vane turbos, dumping extra fuel to ignite in the turbo to spool faster, etc
In Australia we have had the 3.0lt V6 Diesel since the introduction of the Grand Cherokee WK2 and its a good reliable engine. Keep up the great work TFL team!
Why Australia get all the nice diesels
@eriktenhag2022 I have a 2021 wrangler ecodiesel. Fantastic jeep. 55k miles no issues.
This video is just what I needed, I’m holding out for my wrangler diesel.
Blake Fogarty they promised the gladiator would also get the diesel..... I’m waiting for that.
It is amazing that for the cost of the Toyota TRD or the gladiator, you can get 4wd, crew cab, DIESEL RAM (as long as you hit one of the three big sales of the year - dodge sales are great, jeep and Toyota sales, not so much).
I wish we could get gobi on the wrangler... have an order for sting gray which im not too thrilled about... also sarge green is supposed to come out soon. Decisions on color
I don’t know guys... that 3rd gen 3.0L EcoDiesel is 80% redesigned- almost a new engine. I wouldn’t want to be FCA’s beta tester.
Hold out till the bugs are worked out
Before you buy an Ecodiesel do yourself a favor and do a lot of research. Check out www.ram1500diesel.com/ I had one in a 1500 and it went to shit at 65k miles, many guys have had more than one engine go south.
Can't wait for the diesel in a Gladiator :)
$$$
or in the 2dr
All those people who purchased the gas Gladiators are going to seriously regret not waiting for diesel. The Pentastar is way too underpowered for a truck!
@DrgnFlys No. On the Wrangler it's a $4,000 option. I assume it will be the same on the Galdiator.
Me too! I spoke to a salesman today and unfortunately this was his response: "It may take a few years. They had been telling us that the diesel would be in the 2007 Wranglers. So it may take some time." : (
So many comments from people who don’t know these drag races are just done for fun. They aren’t saying they make the Wrangler better overall than the other trucks, just quicker over a short distance when unladen.
Same clowns that say tug a wars are the ultimate test of torque and towing lmao.
No kidding! People taking this seriously. One guy below wants to see two wranglers line up so it’s apples to apples. I don’t even know what to say about that one.
David Klein LoL unless you live at high elevations
Theyre both gonna break before 50k miles so they both lose
Honestly, this makes me really impressed with the super duty. It weighs 2000lbs more and barely lost at a mile above sea level. That is impressive.
I agree with that, but acording the TFL previously videos the 2019 PowerWagon did 0-60 in 8.12 seconds on that same track... And that 7.3 godzilla did in 8.51 seconds... I want to see the new Tremor 7.3 against the new PowerWagon!!!
PW 0-60 in 21:48; ua-cam.com/video/yCM7MOyjC00/v-deo.html
@@nilsonfilho8108 I mean, that is fair, but power wagon doesn't have nearly the same tow numbers or payload capacity.
@@xaviermcquiston1604 Yea, i'm just saying that i expected more from the new 7.3 with the 10-speed, specially against the old 6.4 Hemi. Anyway 8.5 seconds still is very fast.
@@nilsonfilho8108 This 7.3L is also brand new though, it'll drop probably at least 1/2 to 3/4 of a second off its 0-60 once the engine gets broken in. I have no doubt it'll outperform the 6.4L Hemi Ram, mostly because Fords own 6.2L already proved that it could outrun the 6.4L Ram's when TFLT drag raced all the gas H.D trucks a couple of years ago.
@@nathanmcdonald610 Yea i remenber, at that time both had 6-speed. And at that time the 2017 PW with 6-speed did the 0-60 in 9.75 seconds, later the 2019 PW with 8-speed did in 8.12 seconds... A huge improve. Maybe the Ford 7.3 win but it will be soooo close. Just my opinion
Love the videos you guys are putting out! Keep killing it.
I'm both impressed and amazed, did not expect that
You didn't expect the lighter and much more powerful Wrangler to beat the Gladiator or to beat the naturally-aspirated 3-ton Ram at altitude? Okay.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 no what his Saying is he didnt expct the Fiat Jeep products to even finish the race
Just bought a new black Jeep Gladiator overland Jan. 4th love it!
You must be 5’5
Altitude killing the big blocks but the 3.0 Diesel is great. Great fun thanks.
Lilac Tortoise Definitely played a part but the big loss at that altitude in power for naturally aspirated motors means that the diesel turbo has even more of an advantage.
Altitude is compensated for by the computer. No excuse to say altitude since they are both computer controlled.
SAM Cooper I think non turbo ICE vehicles lose efficiency with less oxygen somewhere in the order of 3% per 1000 foot in altitude. So at 5000ft around 15% in performance loss. It's all about manifold air density and Turbos with good inter coolers increase manifold air density which is why they enhance power even at altitude.
@@0004612 Not true at all. NA engines loose 3% of their HP for every 1Kft of elevation. So at a mile high, the v8 and v6 engines are down 15%. The diesel, since it has a turbo, can still see the same target boost pressures, but it'll just take a little longer to reach those pressures. In other words the diesel will still make the same HP/TQ numbers, it'll just spool up a little slower.
Great job!! I was afraid you'd either wait till end to show race or it would be lame after the race but as usual you guys are funny, engaging & give really good info, love your channels!!!
you guys relationship is honestly inspirational
Hey you guys should start doing drone finish shots from directly above.
Jay P, great idea. It would look so awesome 😎.👍
Yes!!! That's a great idea. Visually very exciting. You could even do a split screen.
I think Alex on Autos ran the 2019 F250 diesel 0-60 in the 6 second range. That’s the one you should have used lol. Something with nearly 1000 ft lbs of torque.
Great video 👍🏼. Love your channel and videos. Would love to see the 4 cylinder turbo vs the diesel
Romana stole my great aunt’s glasses
Big, ugly, transparent framed glasses are pretty trendy these days. Last few years, it was tortoise shell. Before that, it was full black frames or the Malcom X horned rim glasses. I predict the Steve Urkel look we make a comeback pretty soon.
@@AkioWasRight yea but his a 60 year old Man he shouldnt be trendy
@@davidmaldonado9717 This is true.
You guys crack me up 😂Are you needing to go back to some childhood history you missed out on lol 😝 Keep it up chaps it’s hilarious 🤣
THIS VIDEO IS WHAT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THANK YOU A TON!!!!
You guys have the best videos. Love it!
I love how its always "it sounds nice" when a car loses a drag race lol
Great video guys! It's nice to see how the diesel performs.
This video is like lining up the chess club for a sprinting race.
Carolus Magnus 😂
@Carolus Magnus i thought they were technician glasses?
best review I've seen yet awesome.
Just got my JLU rubicon diesel! Loved this video.
Great video!
I am very impressed with these results. I would love to see the same races at sea level
Can’t wait to see that diesel in the Gladiator!!!
That's The Good Word!
Wow! I'm excited to see the Wranglers when the aftermarket comes along with more boost and a tune!
Gladiator---- vanquished
Rebel------ vanquished
Ford------vanquished
Vanquish------- gotta test a Vanquish
*Godzilla
LMFAO a 5.0 f150 would beat any of those trucks
2020 SRT Grand Cherokee?? 4.4 sec. 0-60
I feel like tommy could have won if the f250 was in 4 wheel high and tow haul mode. I have seen faster times in my ram 1500 in tow haul mode. I often call it the sport mode. I have not seen if you guys have tested this. Thank you and keep up the great content.
What frequency were you guys on with those Baofengs?
Awesome video!
I can’t believe the ram lost this is one of my favorite videos you guys have done
The best 0-60 time they got with that diesel jeep was 8.6 seconds. But when they compared their Rebel against the new powerwagen, they were clocking the rebel 0-60 at about 7.5 seconds. so they must have really messed up the rebel's acceleration with tires and exhaust, or there is something else going on with it.
Whoever OK'ed those clear frames on his glasses needs to be brought up on charges.
Love this video!💪😁
Can't wait to see the comparo with the new hybrids.
TFL should do a tire and lift vs stock comparison on the drag strip, fuel economy, and speedo change. I bet going from stock 30 to 35 in tires with a lift would show a big change.
I run 15.3 with 35's and 4.88 gears. 14jk 3.6 .
I have a 2018 JGC with the 3.0 diesel. It’s rather quick off the line if you put it in sport mode and load up the drivetrain. Would be interesting to see the JGC vs the wrangler
Epic video.....but I'm conflicted🤔 since the ram 1500 whit the same diesel in the drag test whit the Silverado 3.0 was much slower. What is it, the tune from the factory.......maybe another test should be performed to be sure. Other than that awesome video great work I completely enjoy watching this compared to what's on tv.😀👍
Start at 1:41
This was great. I just drag raced my friend’s son with his beater gran marquise against my Rubi diesel as a joke and it smoked the merc. That 8spd really shifts fast through those gears.
So when are you taking the Jeep diesel to Ike Gauntlet?
Great video
That new diesel is peppy gotta say I'm surprised it beat the ram as I have one of the new 1s with the hemi and they are pretty fast pickups. Can't help but wonder how quick the diesel would be with a delete kit.
Got a 21 rubicon diesel and plan to. Currently on Banks
Can you guys do a 4x4 launch for me in the F250 in tow/haul mode?
Subbed. This is awesome.
Curious to see what the 2.0L turbo Wrangler could do......
same here.
^ This. TFL - make it happen 👍
No different than the v6
@@1titans it will be different. Higher altitude...
I drove one a few weeks ago. It’s genuinely quick.
Poor godzilla , isnt even broken in yet
Really not that big of a deal on a gasser
You guys are hilarious! Awesome! 😆😎🏁
Are you guys going to race the eco diesel vs the hemi 6 4???
Any news when the gladiator will be available with the diesel?
You guys should do a Drag race against the eco diesel the 3.6 the 2.0 Turbo see which one is quicker . I just Ordered my Rubicon unlimited 5 weeks ago and the diesel engine wasn't available yet dam
That was fun guys!
Fun video. I really like the diesel, but considering that I average about 1000 miles per month on my truck, I had better stick with the max tow variant of the EcoBoost F150.
Wow, first surprise was how quick the diesel Jeep is at altitude. Second surprise is how much quicker the new 7.3 super duty is than the Hemi ram!
The Ram is lifted and on bigger tires, the engine in the F-250 was built to make gobs of torque across the whole rev range and has 2 extra gears in the transmission. I don't remember which rear axle they got in the F-250 but if they got the 4.30 (which every Super Duty should have, the 3.73 shouldn't even be an option) then they've really got the gearing, torque, rotating mass, and aerodynamic advantage (remember, the Ford still has that huge chin spoiler on it and they are functional).
So does this mean there is a replacement for displacement...
Yes BOOST!
Is this the last episode that will showcase the TFL Ram Rebel? :(
I always thought it was slower in 4 wheel drive, more middle man between engine and tire. Also, do the 2.0L turbo vs. the diesel next time.
Well, when you think about it this way... Old SRT8 (Jeep WK) was pretty much quickest in its class (and even compared to some other SRT models) because it had AWD. Sure, AWD is NOT same as 4WD, but you know, if it was just rear wheel drive it wouldn't be as quick since it'd just burn tires and wouldn't go anywhere, compared to how it goes when all tires are doing it.
Could some of the diesel experts on here comment on the durability of modern diesel engines? Have always heard diesels should be daily drivers and driven distances to allow the engine to warm up completely. I had a co-worker with a VW Jetta (diesel) with 160K miles, 50+ mpg and a 100 mile roundtrip commute. He was on his 4th set of tires. Will diesel powered Jeeps have greater mileage warranties?
When are you doing 2.0 turbo Jeep vs Jeep diesel ?
Just curious can’t you break your transfer case by drag racing in 4x4 on pavement??????
Why would you? Unless they're drag racing in 4low, but that would be just silly 😅 Tho you got a point in a way... they're driving Fiat cars and yeah, could blow transfer case even if you let it idle 😂
When’s the diesel coming to the dealerships?
And then tune the disel. 420 torque to 550 ?
Insert cat meme when Roman beats Andre
That Super Duty is impressive. That big boy runs 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
Donnie James what's so impressive about it? It lost and will continue to lose because it's a shitty Furd.
Great Matt now you have a car that goes really well with the Mansion. I don't know how you can keep so many irons in the fire.. My 64' small block Vett had 365hp. and was probably half the weight your super Vett. has. By the way love your new dog..
The guy driving the gladiator quietly swaps out his gladiator for stradman 600hp one
Thanks, so now it looks like waiting on the Gladiator diesel is the way to go!!!
Still curious what a desle truck could do against it. pardon typoes.
Remember that white 2014 Q5 TDI you guys reviewed? You should put this against it in a drag!
I thought you guys traded off the Ram. How is it you have both the Ram and the new F-250 Godzilla along with the new Gladiator at the same time?
Lived in Denver for 5 years, foggy day is quite a rare occasion.
Andrey Starovoytov it’s all the pot smoke......
I had always thought they were going to put that cummins 2.8 in that jeep. When did they decide to go with the euro oil burner?
little that Cummins only meets emissions requirements for vehicles up to model year 1999 and is made in China. It has a decent share of issues wearing out cylinder liners too quickly.
@@ethans7682 ahhh thanks man, i did not know that.
Honestly how many codes did the two cars throw after this drag race
I just looked at when they did a drag race on the power wagon and it did it in 8.12 seconds.... so the new ram 2500 with the 8 speed is just as fast if not faster then the new ford 7.3.! Should make for good reviews for the HD gas IKE!
Just a question, is the exhaust rusted?
Cricketer Den I noticed that too. On the ram? Great quality products
The very concept of “drag racing” a Jeep is hilarious to me. But thanks for doing the vid :)
Would have been great to see you drag the Jeep EcoDiesel vs. the Silverado 3.0 Duramax.
Oh yes..
Did Andre buy the Rebel?....I am picking up my Gladiator in a few weeks and was going to wait for the Diesel but the 3.6 gas is tested and a lot more reliable. Besides Cummins FCA has struggled with reliability with their internal diesel quality
Eco diesel isn't a Cummings. It's made by VM Motori S.p.A., an Italian company. They have made motors for a lot of car companies. Everyone except FCA seems to dump them after just a few years.
Jeff Johnson I know I didn’t say that the eco diesel was a Cummins I was saying that the FCA built diesels have problems and that generally Cummins don’t have problem because they aren’t built by FCA
Wow, was blown away by these results. I thought the 3.0 was the slowest of them all great video!! Cant wait to see the eco diesel in the gladiator, I think that will be the ticket!.
Love my Ram EcoD, but a diesel Gladiator would be my dream vehicle. I believe my tuned Ecodiesel is a bit quicker, at least to 60, than my last hemi Ram.
I’m getting a diesel either way but I can’t decide I’ve the gladiator or rubicon wrangler
I love the idea of that diesel torque and better mpg's, but $250 to change the oil and filling up your DPF fluid ever 2500 miles... is it worth it?
I didn't expect the Jeep diesel and Ram would be quite that slow. My 2014 F-150 5.0 SuperCab 2wd does a consistent 0-60 between 6.2-6.3s and a 1/4 in the low 15s range. It was doing that before the intake and exhaust. That's not even really fast at all. Maybe the mile above sea level is the reason for the high 0-60 times and my times being lower is because I live in Florida at about 72ft above sea level.
Please try ford f150 ecoboost 3.5 vs wrangler diesel
Roman... that's EXACTLY how I laugh when little civics and Mazda 3s try to take me in my sahara eco diesel. I love you guys! Hahaha
4:21 I wish I loved anything as much as Andre loves that Rebel.
Looking forward to Jeep 3.0 vs gm 1500 3.0 diesel
My dad has that ram reble same color and even the rollbar on the back
How would 6.7power stroke do?
6.7L would have blown the jeep out of water.
Did Andre have the Rebel in 4hi? I have a 2017 Rebel that stock hit 0-60 in 6.6 seconds
FYI: We’re at a mile above sea level
@@TFLcar yeah I forgot about that
The bigger tires also hurt acceleration. Considering the lift, tires, elevation, etc. it was still just barely slower--and sounded a ton better while doing it!
I love you guys!
Torque is just a vague proxy for the power curve. Power under the curve, the energy imparted to the vehicle, is all that counts. The Wrangler, 4300lb with 260lb and a turbo canceling altitude effects and taking advantage of the misty conditions for intake charge cooling, has an advantage over naturally aspirated engines in heavier vehicles. The 7.3L was close in wt/hp, but it lost power because of the altitude. They were very close.
For a Wrangler, the diesel definitely ups the game in ways it doesn't in the Ram 1500.
😳 wow that’s awesome!!!
I’d like to see a Gladiator diesel vs a 2 door 2.0🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🇺🇸🇺🇸
Guys this was great!
If only you guys had a long test track like Carwow
yea this track is tiny, not at all meant to be drag racing on, even for these small tests
what is that diesel rubicon wrangler ?
Tommy should’ve brought your Cayenne
Tommy should’ve used Tow/Haul
Does the Gladiator weigh less than a Wrangler?
Where are the videos on the new F250?
Wow, I'm impressed!
