I have always been a big fan of her work; I had not seen this until now. I still keep the album "The Magazine" in heavy rotation on my stereo. I will always love her music. Thanks for sharing.
Love this song so much. This is wonderful, but here's the mark of true greatness, the album version is actually better :). Takes nothing away from this performance though, it's just unusual. Funny, the compression artifacts of the streaming resolution actually create some sustained harmonics that almost sound like the backing vocals on the album version.
Look at her smile at the end there, when she repeats "you are the sweetest boy I know". He really must be. This is sad, simple and elegant. Beautiful.
Absolutely the Dutchess of Coolsville. Her voice and words are so easy and natural, like talking to an old friend.
How many songs of heartbreak have I heard in my life? Hundreds, maybe thousands. But very few have gotten me like that song just did.
She's a legend and loved by all the right people for this reason right here.
Ripped out my heart in true Rickie Lee style, brilliant.
"You nearly tore me from my mind." Such a simple yet powerful line. Brilliant!!
"If there's a sun I'll watch it raise." Who else could understand this lyric until she made us feel it?
This one just gets me where I live, 'you are the sweetest boy i know' sitting here crying
Not only a great song. But i love that full guitar-sound and that whispering voice!
Rickie ever brings tears to my eyes.
Still incredible, still beautiful.
Rickie just brings tears to my eyes ... i absolutely love her
Haven't heard this before or of Rickie Lee Jones - Blown away by the intimacy in the lyrics and performance. Beautiful. Great Post
Rickie is one of a kind, I love her gift dearly. Dig deeper into her work, you'll love her too.
I need to buy this CD. I can hear it here anytime but if this recording is on it, I want to own it for myself!
I did buy it. I just reached up on the CD shelf above the monitor to hold it in reverence.
