It's because of the 2.5Ghz connection the USB Link uses to connect to the headsite. Wi-Fi is usually 2.5Ghz too and will interfere with it. If your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi and you place it near the Link it will cause disconnects.
The issue with the dongle for ps5slim user is due to the usb hard drives on the back that cause interference, you can use an usb extension cord and place your dongle further from the hdd and ssd.
I have an OG PS5 with the dongle in the front. I've only ever had 1 disconnect from a month of use. I'm sure I'll get more over time, but at this stage It's no issue for me. Sound quality, comfort, ease of use, it's an awesome headset.
I tried moving the dongle to the front of my original ps5 and still have the disconnects. Also tried a usb c adapter and still experiencing disconnects. Something is definitely wrong with the usb dongle software whether it’s interference or something else
I have the explores and same issue with connectivity. I have the OG ps5 and use the front port and it still does it. But other than that they made a decent set of ear buds as well.
Here’s two questions I have regarding the Pulse Elite headsets. 1. How do they compare to using a pair of Active Noise Cancelling headphones like Beats Studio Pro for example. Are they better or worse or just about the same? 2. Since the Pulse Elite can connect to any Bluetooth device as well as your PlayStation 5 like a mobile phone, does this also extend to other devices that support Bluetooth like a Nintendo Switch for example? 3. How does this compare to the Pulse Explore earbuds in terms of sound and audio quality and other features like a button to turn up and down the volume via the headphones/earbuds?
I was about to get these until I read the comments lol I’ll just stay with the turtle beach stealths 700 gen 2 😂 seems like PlayStation turning into apple when it comes to their products.
I have an OG PS5 and also got the Pulse 3D headset, and at first I had the issue of disconnecting when the dongle was in the back. I figured it was a range/connection issue from the dongle to the headset so I moved it to the front and it fixed the connection issue Your mileage with the new PS5 or the Elites may vary though
I have to disagree about the sound quality. This headset does have very good clarity but OMG the Bass is terrible. I’ve have multiple headsets over the last few generations of consoles & I have to say I’ve never experienced a headset that just can’t handle ANY bass. If you try to turn the volume anywhere close to the max the bass just clips & distorts. I’m sorry but that’s unacceptable for that price point. And before anyone says “oh just change the sound eq to “Bass Boost” that does absolutely NOTHING. Even with that preset eq the headset still can’t produce REGULAR bass at a decent quality. I returned them the same day👎🏾
Maaan I loved the pulse elite headset…but yesterday as I went to pull the headset over my head the white plastic on the side snapped. Also I preordered these headphones and had them for only 6 months…it’s so frustrating because I loved these headphones
Anyone also has a problem with volume indicator randomly not appearing when using FN buttons on dualsense edge? It also makes the volume adjustment to move only to +1 or -1
I’ve owned my headset for 1 week and have had no connectivity issues with my slim digital. If you want to move the dongle to the front consider picking up a usb a to c adapter
I am also in the "randomly disconnects" club! But I have my dongle connected in the front. So I don't know what gives! OH! It took my like five days to get them connected to the portal!
Yeah, your suggestion doesn't fix the problem. After multiple attempts and fixes proposed by folks near and far, I can say this: It's not heat, it's not distance, it's not a crowded 2.4 GHz environment, and it's not a slim or OG PS5 issue. None of these "fixes" work as the disconnects always return eventually. It is simply bad headphone hardware (or firmware). I am returning mine and will consider repurchasing after there has been confirmation from the community that this issue is resolved.
Happened with me in total of 4 times with my slim. Taking out the dongle, turning off the headset and then dongle back and turning on the headphones always helped.
@@Nico-elpatron I gotta try that.. I have the first og 5 and connect it on the front.. I'm gonna try your idea and see how it goes.. It's been getting to me time to time... Gonna have try that adapter instead on just putting it on the front alone

I’ve returned two different pairs because of the audio sounding distorted and having a random static clicking noise whether it’s during a game, listening to music or watching a video. Hoping the third pair somehow works fine. I even have the dongle on the front of my PS5 just in case it was a connection issue.
The soda clicking comes from thin foil planar drivers. In my case it appears when there's too much heat inside the headphones while wearing them. Taking them off for a minute helps with mine
@@Dom91133 I have the static clicking sound also, I think it again comes from a weak connection to the dongle, as a few times it intensifies and then disconnects. You can test this by walking away and see if it gets worse and then disconnects
You forgot to add that they do not currently support volume balance settings between chat and game. Pulse 3D had this option. I hope they add this option as soon as possible because for me it is a big disadvantage. Playing NBA 2K24 with a friend and not being able to talk freely.

Honestly I haven’t used it much on my p5 yet but it’s amazing on pc and every other device, since I can game and connect Bluetooth at the same time. And it connects flawlessly and it’s nice not having to worry about Bluetooth settings just plug and play. I also use it on my work computer bc I’m WFH, again just plug and play for impromptu meetings. And the Bluetooth connectivity works really well too for my phone and tablet and easy to switch between them. The only thing I don’t really like is my own voice sounds muffled when I talk but I get used to it and I already speak soft in the first place. It’s a great all in one device while I’m at home and I don’t think people talk about that at all when it comes to PlayStation link.
Sometimes when I set them down and come back or turn a device on and off I have to reconnect but all I have to do is click the link/power button on the headphones, idk if that would help.
The reason you need a dongle is because bluetooth cannot be used for gaming headphones and even worse the ones with microphone. And there is no universal standard for 2.4Ghz signal for audio purposes, so every company provides their own dongle over, guess what, an universal port which is USB. Could Sony built-in 2.4Ghz audio "dongle" only for their headphones? Yes, but knowing users they would hate the fact Sony forced users into buying their headphones to have that extra comfort of direct console connection and also PlayStatation headphones are not exactly know for being great, Sony is aware other companies have brilliant gaming headphones compatible with PS, so it's pretty pointless to do anything about it. Built-in dongle would require Sony to start selling actually very good and competing headsets, which they don't necessarily wanna do. Also that would mean higher console price, nobody wants that and such built-in feature would never justify an increased price. USB dongle is not a problem, the fact Sony messed up theirs is a problem.
I had to recently get my pulse Elite headband repaired because the headband snapped unfortunately. However, it's a fantastic pair of headphones for the price 🔥🔥
Dang that's sounds like a major design flaw. If it can be proven by some tech person. Perhaps it's possible to make a lawsuit. Have you tried a USB to usbc dong to use it in the front. Or does it really need usba for the signal
I have no issues connecting with the portal. It's how u do it... Do not try when it's off. Connect it to the PS5. MAKE SURE AUDIO is coming out ..then do the PlayStation steps u will hear a noise that's not the usual. And on the portal u will see. PULSE ELITE CONNECTED pop up on portal. Be warned. MUST repair if only wanna use on PlayStation good luck. Great videos
I’ve plugged my dongle into the front of my PS5 since day 1 and I’m returning mine because they disconnect repeatedly. Also disconnects when plugged into my laptop. So I don’t think it’s a heat issue. Both are hardwired with wifi turned off so not sure about wifi interference either.. 🤷🏻♂️
sigh i got these as my early bday gift to myself on the playstation store a week ago and i’ve been playing my games and all of a sudden hear a crackling or like white nose static feedback?? it scared me that they would blowout (bc that happened to my alienware headset) it happens in all games, i have it on bass boost and even if i turn the volume waaaay tf down.. the dongle is getting overheated on the back of my slim like u said so i turned it to the side but it’s still.. ass. idk man i’m stressed i put so much money into all this shit and i can’t afford to replace it. i tried changing the EQ but nothing changes any of it.. like is my set just faulty from PS and i should’ve ordered elsewhere or is it just a thing to get used to ..
The Mic Quality is much better with AI off. However it is marketed to have Ai tech to a certain degree remove background noise but in reality its like splitting up two sounds lowering the quality of the voice and layering a muffled sound of crisps to it. so with your clip with the mic ai my brain was ligit bein tortured because it sounds like your speaking with the crisps sound merged into the voice. not joking it was painful to hear. (im using my Xbox wireless headset rn)
The only 2 bad things about this headset is 1. No chat/game volume button 2. Party chat can hear your talking on the phone when you're Bluetooth is paired Number 1 is absolutely crazy for A FIRST PARTY HEADSET
I find both headphones cuffs irritating and not comfortable just because of the material. It collects easy sweat and makes it feel tighter than most other headsets
Aye ima be honest after a couple months of use the joints it snapped and broke over time im really frustrated because it hasn’t been over a year and they broke on the joint I noticed a small break last month and today when taking off my headset it snapped and putting it back on it wouldn’t stay still idk if other people can relate but they seemed fragile 🤦🏾♂️
Is the dual Bluetooth connection between phone and console good or does it sound bad, like when listening to music on your phone and playing games at the same time does it sound clear or distorted? Please let me know bc I will buy them if this works 👀
I believe heat to be one of the causes for sure. I never had any conection issues until I plugged it on the back of the console and playing for a few hours. The usb dongle was insanely hot and "dead". As soon as it cooled down it went back in the front and no more issues so far. In any case I think this is an issue separated from the random disconnects. PS.: Please don't post the whole mic test again on every video. One time was enough
Thanks for keeping it real in the video man. I own both the headset and the portal but I do have connectivity issues with the headset and my original disk ps5
My red pulse 3d cuts off too then connects back once in a while just like any other type of headsets..just brought the elites but haven’t used them yet I will tomorrow
Man even hustling screws lol. Y'all, go to the Home Depot or Lowes and pick up a pack of 100 #6 x 1/2 flat head Phillips screws for like $8 and color it with a black sharpie. I'm not about to pay $8 for 4 screws.
Why is there a long type-C Cable? Should I connect the cable to both the console and joystick to get all the features_ mainly the 3D sound? What is the use of this long cable?
I do agree with the disconnections being related to the heat. Mine was at the back and it disconnected and it was almost too hot to touch when taking it out. But now even after moving it to the front it still does it and it’s not that hot. Maybe it’s damaged now?
Mine started breaking on the headband at the spot when the black part meets the gray part. Sent in for repair and they sent another back. I won't put them on because I can tell it will happen again
Bullshit it disconnects on the front of the console too I have the horizon forbidden west bundle and I've gone threw 2 of these headphones this third final one I will return it if it screws up and go for the Astros A50
Yeah comfortability is so important for us guys with glasses. I cant use headets that are too tight because it pressess to hard on the side of my glasses/ears.
Im on my 3rd headset on OG PS5. Always plugged into the the front. This disconnection issue keeps coming back. And where TF is the party chat/game sound audio adjustment button?!?!?!
I've never put my dongle on the backside and I'm still getting connection issues. The dongle works with my PC with no problem. When it's in the PS5, it's makes the sound that it connects to the dongle but the PS5 doesn't register that it's my headset.
Original Playstation 5, Plugged into the back, Front and USB extension cord Front and back, All of these have random disconnects, It isn't a placement problem, this is a problem with the dongle or the headphones themselves and we can only hope that it can be resolved with a firmware update, and soon.
I've had the same issue. Sometimes when I turn the mic off on the headset it turns it off on the controller. Sometimes it doesn't. Completely random. Same with the EQ menu. It's supposed to come up with 3 presses of the power button, but that only works some of the time for me.
Had the same problem trying to connect to the portal the directions are not very clear. You have to turn on the portal then turn on the headset then after the headset is on hold the power button for like 8 seconds till the lights start flashing then put next to the portal then a message will pop up to connect the headset on the portal. Then your done. The directions make it seem that that you have to hold power button down will powering on which is wrong
I returned 2 pairs and just picked up my 3rd . Disconnect issues for the 1st. Snapped dongle in half for the 2nd. I did connect the dongle to the back for the 1st time tho. Imma try the front but any disconnect issues and im instantly returning
The only problem I have so far with this headset is hearing myself talk, as in if you cup your hands over your ears and speak that’s what it sounds like to me

sigh i got these as my early bday gift to myself on the playstation store a week ago and i’ve been playing my games and all of a sudden hear a crackling or like white nose static feedback?? it scared me that they would blowout (bc that happened to my alienware headset) it happens in all games, i have it on bass boost and even if i turn the volume waaaay tf down.. the dongle is getting overheated on the back of my slim like u said so i turned it to the side but it’s still.. ass. idk man i’m stressed i put so much money into all this shit and i can’t afford to replace it. i tried changing the EQ but nothing changes any of it.. like is my set just faulty from PS and i should’ve ordered elsewhere or is it just a thing to get used to ..
update?
@@ekittykay yeah that shit never went away … lol. it also randomly disconnects and i have to spend 10-15min getting it to reconnect again. 🤷🏼♀️😩

(im using my Xbox wireless headset rn)
yo ckid why dont you show us the eq settings for the pulse elite's arent those exclusive for the ps5
If you can't connect to portal...reboot the portal and try connecting again...tired this multiple times it works everytime
The only 2 bad things about this headset is
1. No chat/game volume button
2. Party chat can hear your talking on the phone when you're Bluetooth is paired
Number 1 is absolutely crazy for A FIRST PARTY HEADSET
I find both headphones cuffs irritating and not comfortable just because of the material. It collects easy sweat and makes it feel tighter than most other headsets
Aye ima be honest after a couple months of use the joints it snapped and broke over time im really frustrated because it hasn’t been over a year and they broke on the joint I noticed a small break last month and today when taking off my headset it snapped and putting it back on it wouldn’t stay still idk if other people can relate but they seemed fragile 🤦🏾♂️
My dongle is in the front, and it disconnects ever time i use it since i bought the elites.....THAT AIN'T COOL SONY !!!!!! SOOO ANNOYING
But bro!!! You paid $8 for a pack of 4 screws?!? Some pulled you major. Simply measure width. Go to general store and get couple cents scree
Biggest piece of shit tech I’ve ever bought.
CHALLENGE: Take a shot everytime he says "y'all"
Jokes aside great video!
Does anyone know if it works as well with PC?
3:15 bass heads should just get the Razer Kaira Pro with "Hypersense" (aka haptic feedback built into the earcups). Nothing has more bass.
Thanks for keeping it real in the video man. I own both the headset and the portal but I do have connectivity issues with the headset and my original disk ps5
Always 💯 fam. Appreciate you watching
Just to add to the statistics, mine also disconnects. Had to return them. In my case, I have an OG PS5 and I would connect to the front.
My red pulse 3d cuts off too then connects back once in a while just like any other type of headsets..just brought the elites but haven’t used them yet I will tomorrow
where my early fam at 💪🔥
Let's go!
Does everyone ear cuffs wiggle loosely or is it just mine
Hey, can you still provide the link for the screws you got? Ha it's not in the description. Good video though.
Get a Type-C male to female USB-A high-speed cable for the PS5 Slim n plug the dongle in front of the console.
Mine started breaking on the headband at the spot when the black part meets the gray part. Sent in for repair and they sent another back. I won't put them on because I can tell it will happen again
how is the bass ??
Happends to me every day on my old ps5 and I've always plugged the USB dongle in the front too, sony needs to hurry yo and patch these issues
My pair does not disconnect, click, pop or even distort unless volume is turned up to max. I'm on PC using the dongle.
Im on my 3rd headset on OG PS5. Always plugged into the the front. This disconnection issue keeps coming back. And where TF is the party chat/game sound audio adjustment button?!?!?!
Idk my boy my elite and portal wrk flawlessly now the ps5 slim it’s facts it disconnects continuously
I've never put my dongle on the backside and I'm still getting connection issues. The dongle works with my PC with no problem. When it's in the PS5, it's makes the sound that it connects to the dongle but the PS5 doesn't register that it's my headset.
My Update on durability: It randomly broke at the seems on both sides by the screws that connect the over head band
Original Playstation 5, Plugged into the back, Front and USB extension cord Front and back, All of these have random disconnects, It isn't a placement problem, this is a problem with the dongle or the headphones themselves and we can only hope that it can be resolved with a firmware update, and soon.
Naw I have the same problem with disconnection, mine is in the front. Only thing PlayStation told me to do is just reconnect with holding the button 😒
Great product…but the constant disconnections are a massive issue and would advise not to purchase, unless Sony resolves the issue…
Mine is not attached in the back but it still disconnects randomly
I have random disconnects and sometimes when I mute my mic and unmute it it doesn’t work or some reason
That's odd I've never had mic issues. I wonder if it has something to do with the AI...better watch what you say when you think it's muted haha
The only problem I have so far with this headset is hearing myself talk, as in if you cup your hands over your ears and speak that’s what it sounds like to me
Great vid!!! But I’m still having trouble with the voice chat and in game sound slider, please make a video on how to fix this issue thanks
Same!!
