I got into my 08 turbo eight years ago and have never regretted my purchase. I have, during my ownership, have done all the maintenance and upgrades to my car. Other than a stage 1 tune, my Porsche has become my perfect 997.1 turbo. 😊 I have an E46 M3 as a stablemate to my amazing Porsche and recently added a 3rd gen John Cooper Works Mini as my new daily driver. Both the Porsche and M3 are taken out whenever I have an itch to drive them. As far as I am concerned, I have the perfect garage for me😊 As far as I am concerned, I feel I have the perfect generation of Porsche 911 turbo and BMW M3 sitting in my garage. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love the analog driving experience both cars provide every time I take either out for a good drive😊
I have a 997.1 tip turbo as well. Don't let people crap on the tip. Yeah I sometimes miss rowing gears but that transmission is very good and can take punishment as well as help you maintain still-to-this-day incredible acceleration.@@tomburns890
Literally probably the best all round Porsche 911 out there...hence the price. Speed, looks, feel, pedigree, classic design but with modern reliability. I mean people put 200k miles on these. That's ridiculous for a performance car with 480hp and a 0-60 time sub 4 sec. Ferrari's with 30k miles are considered high mileage. Genuinely, as a car enthusiast, this car blows my mind. Worth mentioning that whilst this car is expensive it still costs the same as a base Carrera 993. Could be considered a bargain still.
Depends on the person. I love mine. In the U.S they came w 480hp. Had the 991 turbo and went back to my 997 turbo techart. This car is a drivers car. It's analog. It's not all electric steering and you feel every bit of the car.
I’m one of those who changed a 2014 991.1 turbo S to a 2011 997.2 Turbo S. For me is all about the driving dynamics and the feelings than the newest tech.
I got my 2007 GT3 new. I drive quickly with a lot of great new GT3’s. My car can still keep up. I’ve never gotten out of it without thinking this is the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen and the most fun.
The wheels are fire on it. The 997 turbo manual is got more desirable because of the transmisson and lot of people don’t like the growing size of the model and a touchscreen mountains what is in the 992 series.
Mezger, as in Stan Mezger. A Porsche engineer behind the GT1 engine that won LeMans. Mezger engines are endurance racing engines first fitted to the 935 as early as 1976. Then the 962 and then 959, 993, 996, 997 in turbo form only.
@@jimklawitter23292009 was first year the interior was refreshed with what became the .2 interior, but still a .1 mezger car. These are commonly referred to as a 1.5.
997.1 Turbo Similar to a Nissan Z because it’s 6 cylinder and 400ish hp?!?!? So I suppose it’s also similar to an M3, supra GR, Kia Stinger and an XJ220 too?? Let’s ignore the fact that it’s a V6 vs a boxer 6 or it’s a front engine/RWD vs a rear engined/AWD car 😂😂
Yup, I have one and I get out of first ASAP, first and second are gone in a blink, it's all about the enormous surge in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and, if enough road, 5th!
Only a fool would pay over $90k USD for one of the most highly produced water cooled 911s in modern times, mezger or not these cars have coolant issues, ram issues and with a $8k invest only match the performance of a DFI Turbo with a tune. 997.2 were a 1/4 of volume of 997.1 cars and the 3.8 DFI is still used today 14yrs later

Man we have similar taste! Now that I’m done making babies, I should be able to afford to get my M3 back and then add this amazing 997 turbo!
This has always been my favorite Generation Porsche 911 Turbo model.
yeah its awesome
@@TheGoldenDrive I had a 996 turbo stick & now a 997.1 turbo with Tiptronic. I do like the 997 the most too.

I own an 08, these cars are not only awesome as is, but tuning them to their potential, makes true super cars!

It is a bargain however there are less and less available for sale I’ve been looking for the past two years for a second one 😂
Dream garage is a 997 Turbo hopped-up by Protomotive and a 997 GT3 RS by Sharkwerks. Nothing more needed.
Yeeeeessssss, the 997 gt3rs is one of my favorite cars ever
Add a 997 GT2 RS also

$200k in Australia. Ouch. Dream of having one though.
I got mine 3 years ago. I really wanted a Porsche turbo and the 997 made the most sense between a 993 and a 992
I’m one of those who changed a 2014 991.1 turbo S to a 2011 997.2 Turbo S. For me is all about the driving dynamics and the feelings than the newest tech.
997 is lost on this man

Very fun video…first time seeing your channel.
Thanks for the kind words, appreciate if
997 Turbo is the GOAT.
did bro just call me buttercup?
Hahaha yep
I think he did sugar 🙂
hahaaha
I have the same car except mine has the new PCCM plus updated and it has the carbon giber trim.
That’s so awesome
Is he really comparing a 997 turbo to a Nissan ? This guy must have a problem
Yes I did, and yes I do have a problem😂
Whats the hype around Mezcar though?

@@snolvr100 *Hans Mezger. And the 996/7 GT3/RS (which is non-turbo ofc) also had the Mezger engine.
@@slqer Sorry, yes it is Hans. Not sure why I typed Stan lol.
Cheapest in Aus is $182,000. There are heaps for sale and the go as high as $325,000
That’s insane
Yeah 160k Canadian. Had me concerned for a moment because I assumed USD. I don't want these to skyrocket lol
Hahaha yeah it’s Canadian. So like 130k US
I thought the 997.2 dont carry metzger engines. I was under the assumption it was changed to direct injection after the gen 1 turbo
2009 was the engine change.
@@jimklawitter2329 ya, and the car is 2011 so that’s why I am confused as why it is referred to metzeger

looks like a brand new car. I think I'm getting old.
Poor guy has no idea about this car . Continuously pulling it in first thinking its fast, when he should be ripping it at 3k rpm from third

8% difference than a 996 over double $ oh hell no
