    What kind of game would you like to see from Larian?

    • @cavik977
      @cavik977 6 місяців тому

      The obvious thing to expect from them would be Divinity Original Sin 3, but who can really say?
      Though I would like to see them to try their hands with a brand new setting. From what they tell me of the Divinity setting, some holes in the overall lore were starting to form with the latest games

      they heavily implied that are gonna release an original I.P Game next and then work on divinity original sin 3 afterwards.

      I'd be down for a Larian game in a sci-fi setting.

      I don't really care - I'm sure it will be an RPG and it will be great and that's enough for me.
      I have played all Larian games so far, starting with their first one (Divine Divinity) and I won't stop playing their games now, that's for sure.
      To all the people who are dissapointed about no DLC: I get where you're coming from but all you have to focus on is that no DLC for BG3 means that Larians next game will be finished sooner....and that's a good thing.

      It would be so freaking cool if Larian took on Knights of the Old Republic 3.

    I just want official mod support. After that BG3 will be complete and ascend to greatest game of all

    Wizards of the Coast owns the rights to D&D and the Bladurs gate setting so it is theoretically possible some other company could make a BG 4 but lets face it none of them could hold a candle to Larian. In the interview Sven suggested they would aim for a 4 year development time on their new IP so we will have to pencil that into our 2028 calendars :)

      Agreed 100%. Larian's way of thinking and working is very rare in the gaming industry these days (at least from non-indie companies) So if WotC do give the IP to another studio to make BG4, obviously I'd be interested but I'd also be cautiously optimistic. Especially if they use the same characters there's just so much that could go wrong. A new story is one thing, but being able to handle the characters well is another. Anyway I could talk about this forever so I'll stop rambling now haha 😅
      (also, yeah I've defintely marked my calendar 😎)

    I begrudgingly agree-BG3 is a complete story and all it needs to be, despite how much we want more.
    However, I would *love* mini games with the Origin characters, set before the Nautiloid. Imagine playing a day in the life of each character. Karlach and Astarion’s awful, heartbreaking activities. Wyll hunting in Avernus. Gale’s folly! Shadowheart’s now forgotten experiences of her cloister life. Lae’zel’s insight into the reality of Githyanki life. Perhaps even a horribly macabre Dark Urge prequel too.
    While we know what they were doing before fate brought them together, how that happened is very different. I would love even deeper character studies of them with unique gameplay.

    its funny how they teased the country of Amn in the updated endings. Which was an expansion for bg2.

  • @DeutscherDummer
    @DeutscherDummer 6 місяців тому +1

    I'm not disappointed about the lack of a sequel, but I am disappointed about the lack of DLC. Partially because of the recent semi-teaser with Withers new dialogue, but also just because going beyond level 12 would have been really cool. BG1 did that via the sequel and both Neverwinter Nights games went to higher levels too. NWN2 was the last D&D licenced RPG before BG3, and that was 15+ years ago, knowing that Larians proven hands worked on the universe would have been great. Now we might get another drought (of good D&D games at least). Good DLC can be some of the best parts of games, Dragon Age, NWN2 or any of the Soulsborne stuff prove that.
    With all that said, I get them wanting to dream bigger and different. Knowing where to stop can be a virtue. I listened to the interview and it seems Sven is convinced this is what the studio wants to do, so that at least is wonderful to hear. Many people mentioned WoTC being a bad company to work with, Sven himself said that many of Larian's original contacts were laid off, all of that might have something to do with this choice.

    Complete story is debatable.
    A lot of the companions feel half done, to me. *Cough* Karlach, *cough* Wyll *cough* Minthara
    What annoys me more is why set up the DLC/BG4 with the Withers speech if by the time it was released they weren't gonna do a DLC or sequel.

      Set up a sequel with the Withers speech? What?

      Because, as they said in the interview, they'd originally planned to make some, but then changed their mind because their hearts weren't into it

    If DOS is a guide, we should see a Definitive Edition for BG3 by October or so. They usually make a ton of improvements by that time, and an excellent entry point for those who have not played the game yet !

    wishful thinking but I think it would be AMAZING if they released a toolset to make custom campaigns, similar to Bioware with Dragon Age: Origins. With the multiplayer and mechanics I could see BG3's format working as a tool for custom games with the support.

    I was kind of hoping that they would have done Icewind Dale 3 for the next game. Or A Temple of Elemental Evil sequel.

    • @HH-hd7nd
      @HH-hd7nd 6 місяців тому +1

      Temple of Elemental Evil already has a sequel - a tabletop campaign titled Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil released in 2001 for D&D 3.0. It was written by Monte Cook and is a direct sequel of the 1985 original Temple of Elemental Evil.

      I have that module, but at that time I wasn't really playing any campaigns, I was just buying them and reading them because I enjoyed the stories in them. Still I would love a good CRPG interpretation of it.

    Respect to Larian for being aware that they didn’t really want to make dlc or a BG4.
    Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great game and if it was made because people wanted to make it then I’d rather they made other games they want to do.
    So I’m looking forward to what they have planned. ^^
    Also, congrats on nearing 5k! I haven’t been watching for long but I’ve been enjoying your content so far. Be sure to make the content you want to make as well. 👍

    As disappointing as it is to not have a DLC for BG3 from Larian, I think it's better that they've decided to detach themselves from DnD and Hasbro/WoTC.
    Larian has ideas about what they want to do and now also possess an experienced team that can create something ambitious. It's better that they get to do what they want and not what some failing corporation wants them to.

      agree, it's disappointing that the baldur's gate storyline won't be continued but it's definitely for the better that they can operate as an indie game company focused on what they want instead of being tied to a mega corporation

    Here's me -coping- hoping that although the next game is not BG4, that is not to say we won't see any of the characters again in future games.
    A cameo of certain origin characters from their "best" endings would be neat. Let's imagine a certain new god being mentioned in scripture for example.

    Larian doing their own IP is good. Remember Westwood Studios? They made Dune RTS, then went on their own IP C&C, unrestricted by any lore or mechanics. And wow, did that new franchise rock. Wishing Larian go wild on their next game, look forward to it
