Fresh roasted peppers and home made mayo and tartare sauce will make that crab a king of a meal as it deserves
We do prefer to do everything from scratch but we also occasionally show that these dishes can also be created from simple ingredients you can’t get from your local market.
I was hoping that you would give that huge crab to Jim for a cook-up! 😋

Love, love, love this. I was hoping Jim would come into play when I saw that monster come out of the pot a few days. We call the "brown meat" mustard here in Maryland for our blue crabs since it typically turns bright yellow when we steam them. Thanks for showing folks where their food comes from. Great channel! Cheers from the US!

Yet another fantastic cookery lesson and recipe from the Masterchef Jim. The crab and the mix of ingredients used to make the crab cakes look like they made a lush tasting snack. Loved the idea of adding cream crackers to give a little extra crunch

Hey John, tell Jim we got lemon seeds to germinate by putting them in a shot glass of water on the windowsill. The tree grew for a while, but it wasn't sunny enough in the grey west Midlands for it to do anything fruit wise 😂😂

The amount of delicious meat that comes from a crab is literally ASTOUNDING!
The two I foraged a couple of weeks back, using lessons learned directly from The Fish Locker UA-cam channel, seriously amazed me. I found three legal browns, two cocks, one hen, but again, following The Fish Locker's teachings, put the hen back to sustain the population! Then, after leaving, I was kicking myself, thinking no way would two crabs feed a family of four. We had ample meat, both white and brown, and all ate our fill.
Thank you to the two crabs, for their sacrifice, and, thank you to The Fish Locker, for sharing the passion, expertise, and techniques, to safely forage fresh food to share with my family! The mackerel and rock samphire of a week later was one helluva beautiful meal too!!! Living/Loving the Cornish dream. 🤍
What about dogfish, instead of ling, as a substitute for crab? (A shellfish allergy. You must have done something REALLY bad in a previous life to be born with such a cruel allergy!!!)
Defo feel the lovely creamy texture of dogfish, and the great taste, is REALLY overlooked!
I used to LOVE battered flake/rock salmon and chips, but you just don't see it in chippies any more. 🥺

Brilliant video and with none of the BS adverts pushing tat the creator would never use in reality. Well done John, your channel has come on leaps and bounds since you first started.
Beach fishcakes will be worth a trial particularly when you don't find much of anything in particular, so made from muscles, cockles, razor clams, scallops etc. A muscle sandwich with a spot of salad cream I'd also recommend.

Fascinating, I've been eating crabs my whole life and never heard of the brown meat. We just threw the whole top away. That meal looked delicious!

Just replace the crab with cooked mackerel.
