See, that makes me wonder if this is the style he wanted all along. I think back when La Gargola was being written, he said that he knew the fans wanted a return to the heavier stuff from WWN and TTOT. He's said that this new album is a return to the more melodic style they'd been going for on Sci-Fi Crimes and Hats Off, and now that he's also said "if the fans don't like it, I'm taking a break," it makes me think he was writing what the fans wanted to hear on La Gargola and North Corridor instead of what was in his heart. If he can't write the music he wants under the name of Chevelle, he's gonna move away from that name so he CAN write what he wants without fans expecting it to be Chevelle's "brand."
This is 10000% a tin foil hat conspiracy theory, but it's just what came to mind when I read that.
I'm pretty sure Chevelle can be rough to upkeep with the family drama behind it. Im glad they were willing to try again.
Honestly? After this hell of a banger, Pete should just push aside any project other than Chevelle. If this song is him making the music HE wants, then he better be ready to keep Chevelle on the very top of his priority list!
Not to diminish his work on any other project of course. Chevelle is just THAT awesome. If this style is what they are more comfortable doing, then we all better buckle up, since it's both what goes on in their hearts, AND it's amazing bangers for the fans.

Holy shit, this somehow exceeded my expectations. Chevelle just knows how to get to me with their music: badass yet emotional guitar work, long ass bridges *including a breakdown*, and a *piano outro*??? Maybe it's just cause I grew up listening to so much Chevelle, but everything they do is exactly what I think makes music good. The whole song I was guessing at/hoping what would come next and every time they delivered. I am so SO excited for the new album guys!!!

Seen Chevelle about 15 times since 2000. Favorite band of all time. Met them in 2010 and they are the most humble guys too.

Wow, Chevelle has to be considered for a Grammy for hard rock with this masterpiece of an album, they are up there as one of the best alternative rock bands that has stood the test of time!!!
Easily one of the best rock albums of the year (so far) & I’d agree with the Grammy nod, sadly the Grammys have been rigged & never give artists/bands who write pure classics a fair shake.

His ability to play mean guitar and sing at the same time at the level he does is literally something to be jealous of.

@@dildojizzbaggins6969 Exactly, I think it's because they only want to make the music that they want to, that can fit in the mainstream but not being a bombastic success, which I think is something that Epic understands the type of band that they are. And surely I doubt that Chevelle has ever cared about the money
What really pissed me off is I guess some people consider this "buttrock", whatever that really means. I've been a fan of them for awhile and I just always considered them good music. A bit Helmet, a bit Tool, but completely their own.

I’ve literally grown up with Chevelle. I was born in 2000 and the first song I ever remember hearing was Send the Pain Below when I was just a few years old. So thankful I was given a dad with a great taste in music

I ran into Chevelle my first time probably 2005 or so middling at anbig rock concert. I think RockFest Kansas City. I had liked fheir singles and all, but hadnt listened to an album or anything at that point. After that first show, instantly bought all of their cds and theyve been number one for me ever since. No one at that concert stuck with me like Chevelle did. Great to see live. Great albums in a day where its a rarity. Ill never miss a Chevelle show if its at all possible to go. Looking forward to the shows in September. Peace everyone. Peace.
JESUS! this slaps. Best lead single they've had in a while, probably since Jars. Their last album was fantastic, but I noticed that Pete wasn't really singing as much on that one, so I'm glad Pete is showing of his vocal abilities on this single. Can't wait to pick up the new album! 2021 is off to a great start for rock.

I think we need those old school bands like Chevelle back, whose lyrics communicated change, love, truth and evolution. Rather than the distractions that the radio plays these days keeping us occupied with money, sex and violence.

@@beingofearth that’s not very Rock n Roll. Rock music is supposed to be angry, energetic, and wild. Rock music is supposed to be music equivalents of cans of Red Bull and Monster drinks. Not saying you can’t have meaningful lyrics, it’s just some of the rappers today are acting more like Rockstars than the actual “Rock” bands today. Oh and where are you from?, because no radio station from where I am plays anything that is full of sex and violence, all the radio plays is full of boring, bland, inoffensive PoP music with no imagination.
They’ve returned with an absolute banger, wow. Chevelle are one of the most consistent bands out there, when so many of their Alternative Metal and Nu-Metal peers have gotten soft and or left the genres, Chevelle just keep being consistent with putting out bangers. Such an underrated band Chevelle are.
Chevelle get better and better with each album and still somehow remain true to their original sound. Hope to see a lot more new work from them in the future.

@@The-Herb-Knight I’ve listened to Chevelle since point #1 was released. I’m assuming you jumped on after This Type of Thinking, circa 2007. Their first three albums don’t even compare to anything else they’ve done; and although all their albums are good, Sci-Fi Crimes and Vena Sera are forgettable.
